Mill End

The house is 5 star cannot find a fault, also the garden is 5 star, fully enclosed, dogs loved it, ate every meal out side, garden so private, can't wait to go back.

Had a great stay at this lovely cottage from first entering the home, we knew it would be perfect, lovely secure garden, if you have dogs, loved the sound of the river running by, in fact we wished we had booked extra days, owners Trevor and Heidi, lovely couple, next property if you needed them, perfect location to explore the lake district.

This is the second time I have stayed at this property with family and it doesn’t disappoint.

The house is very spacious and has a very homely feel to it. It has everything you could possibly need and is in easy reach of places to visit. The three bedrooms are a great size and the beds are comfy. It is also dog friendly which is great. The garden is secure, bigger dogs could get out by the garden gate, but we never leave our dog in the garden unattended when we are away so not a problem for us. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be visiting again.

This is a fabulous property with everything you would need provided.

Garden is enclosed and perfect for our dog. Only 10 minutes drive from Pooley Bridge.

Lovely spacious accommodation.

Very clean. They’d just about thought of everything you might need for a relaxing holiday.Location is very good with river running down the side of property. Was lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the river. Great walks nearby. Excellent for dogs. Only complaint was that the vacuum provided wasn’t very good at picking up the hair from our two goldies, but then is any vacuum. Would definitely go back there and recommend to others.

This was our second visit to Mill End and again met our expectations.

Property was spotlessly clean, comfortable and the neat enclosed garden ideal for our dog. An excellent welcome pack was much appreciated. Hopefully we’ll be back again in the future.

My family and I spent 5 nights at this property over Christmas.

We all loved the house which had everything you needed and it had been fully decorated for Christmas too. A lovely welcome hamper which was very thoughtful of the owners. A visit from the owners on Christmas Day to make sure everything was ok. The property has a big enclosed garden which is next to a river which was very peaceful. We had some lovely walks in the surrounding area. Would highly recommend this property for a relaxing stay. Would definately love to stay at this property again.

A lovely welcome pack provided - thank you. We found the hosts to be very friendly and welcoming and could not do any more to make us feel welcome. Really well equipped kitchen. The whole house was spotlessly clean. Loved it! Thank you.

Mill-end was a beautiful house well presented and the large garden was very secure for pets and right near the river, On warmer days would have been a nice place to sit outside, It is hard to stay anything was wrong but the bed in the large/main bedroom was very uncomfortable, but no one issues with anything other than that

This was our second visit & altho’ the weather wasn’t as good as in May, Mill End was lovely - cosy & warm to come back to every day after being out and about.

It really does have everything you need to enjoy your time there & dogs are not forgotten either. Thanks again to Trevor for making us feel so welcome again.

The cottage was well equipped and had everything we needed. It was immaculate and spacious. The garden was lovely with the river views and we all enjoyed the lovely welcome pack. We are already looking to book again.

This was the second time we had stayed at Mill End but this was a different season than the last time.

Loved the sound of the river rushing past the property and the view of the river is so pretty. The property was as we remembered it - very comfortable and warm with lots of thoughtful touches, including the welcome pack. The property was lovely and clean and is so nicely decorated. Just one little niggle - the taps are not marked for hot and cold water. Not a real problem for us but might be a concern with small children. Would happily stay there again.

This house and location are absolutely beautiful.

It is pet friendly which is great. The house has everything you could possibly need. The furnishings are comfortable, the rooms are a lovely size, beds are comfortable and the welcome basket is a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Everything has been finished to a high standadd. The garden is set next to a river and is a lively place to relax. Only downside is that if you have a large dog, it could easily jump up on the small wall in the back garden and go between a fence and gate to get out to the front of the prperty and on to the road, so not totally secure. This is stated in the instruction manual in the house but not sure if it stated it on the Sykes page. Wasnt a problem for us as we didnt leave our dog unattended in the garden. I would 100% recommend this property and look forward to a return visit.

Mill End is a really comfortable property with all the facilities you could want or need for any length of stay. We had the most amazing stay at Mill End with our two children and dogs!

There was everything we could have asked for, from milk left in the fridge for us and cleaning products ready to use throughout the week! We will definitely be back ☺️

What exceptional holiday accommodation.

Spacious, clean and comfortable, with ample room in the garden for our dog. We had a wonderful stay here, with the majority of the lakes within a short drive away. Owners are friendly and on hand if there are any queries. We would highly recommend a stay at Mill End.

Spotlessly clean and beautifully presented with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Large secure garden for the dogs and the river running alongside the property was the icing on the cake. A beautiful house with everything that you would need.

We enjoyed our stay and pretty much saw most of this area. The house is lovely to relax in which is needed as there isn’t many good eateries in the area.The gutter on the double bedrooms needs clearing or fixing as due to the amount of rain could be heard all night. A nice relaxing house to stay in.

We had an absolutely fab time at Mill End & we wished we didn’t have to go home !

The property was perfect in every way for us & our dog - in fact the photos didn’t do it justice. The garden was a great size - the dog loved it & could run around freely because it was fully fenced. It was also very private & because of the good weather, we ate outside whenever we could. Trevor, the owner, was great - very helpful & friendly & there if we needed him. The only down side was that we had to go home - but we know we’ll be booking again for next year.

Our 3 kids and dog loved it! Such a relief having had a few bad experiences elsewhere. One of the best holiday properties we have stayed in. Location is great for getting to all the popular destinations. Loved being next to the river and the sound of the water flowing at night. Garden was great for the dog. Lovely to receive the welcome pack and lots of thoughtful additions which made the stay even more comfortable and effortless. Owners lived next door and were very welcoming whilst unobtrusive, struck the balance perfectly. We will definitely return. Thank you for making it such an enjoyable stay!

The accommodation was excellent- the photos really didn’t do the property justice.

Big, spacious and spotlessly clean. I loved the sound of the river and there were some good running routes. The property was excellently equipped. If I was been extra picky I’d say I couldn’t find a hairdryer although I’m sure there was one.

Had a lovely stay over Christmas, house is very spacious, clean and comfortable.

Fully equipped and in a peaceful location. Owners welcoming and not far away if you need them. The house was decorated for Christmas which was lovely as I was worried that it wouldn’t feel like Christmas being away from home. My furry princess loved being able to run in the secure garden.

Best holiday cottage l have stayed in

Mill End suited our needs perfectly.

Very close to Penrith and its facilities but on a cul de sac in a village setting. Being so close to the M6 we had concerns about the possibility of traffic noise. Fear not, because we never heard any road noise but only the gentle babble from the river next to the property. As we were on a motoring holiday due to mobility issues we were within easy reach of most of the lakes but some of the routes were a bit challenging. However, as we had visited the area before we knew what to expect. but beware potholes! We would rate Mill End as one of the best properties that we have had as a holiday let. The owner lives next door which is handy in case of any issues that you might encounter. (We couldn't work out how to get the TV system to work to begin with.) Nothing has been overlooked to make our say comfortable and pleasant. A home from home.

Such a lovely house in a great location, nice and quiet, the sound of the river at night is amazing.

It was super clean and really well equipped. Despite some rainy weather we had some great walks (Lowther castle loop not too far away) and Pooley Bridge/Ullswater only 10 minutes drive away. The dogs loved the garden too. Owner friendly and local but not obtrusive. We would definitely return

The property was a fantastic place for ourselves and the dogs everything was perfect and a lovely welcome pack awaited us on arrival, a great location with the river Eamont running alongside the garden and a lovely quiet lane to walk the dogs.

The locals who we met when walking the dogs were very friendly and helpful. Lots of places to visit within easy reach, Penrith, Pooley bridge, Glenridding, Keswick to name but a few. Trevor the owner who lives near by helped us understand the TV instructions de to us being techniphobes and said he was available if there was anything we needed. Would recommend Mill End to anybody looking for a great holiday rental. 5+ stars .

Where to start with this property it was incredible.

I almost don't want to tell people how good it is lol. The house was absolutely spotless, the cleanest place I've ever stayed. The house is decorated to a very high standard and not a scuff or mark on any of the walls. Soo many glasses (great choice) and mugs, plates etc. I spent alot of time in the kitchen it's absolutely stunning. This property had so many tvs as well, not that i personally watched anything. Sofas are so comfy and soo much room. Beds were very very comfy, if I had to say one negative thing the pillows are a bit firm and uncomfortable but that's minor. The garden is so beautiful and to hear the river was just heaven. Mill End really is such a special place that I've fallen in love with. All very secure for our dog as well. The owners Trev and Heidi are really lovely and helpful and friendly. Although they live across from the property you don't feel like they are on top of you like I've felt in pervious holiday homes. I can not wait to come back, I was really sad to leave, it's deffo stolen a piece of my heart. Thank you ever so much and we will see yous again xx

Just got back from a stay at Mill End, fab weather which meant the dogs could enjoy the wonderful enclosed garden!

Owners were very friendly and was great knowing they were next door if we needed them. A great location and very close to some fab walks. I can highly recommend Mill End - a real home from home and lovely and spacious!

The house is beautiful and finished to a very high standard with all mod cons. Kitchen has everything you need. Generous welcome basket. Very comfy beds. Falling asleep to the sound of the river and waking up to the sound of the birds singing. Ample parking. Enjoyed the garden overlooking the river. Our dog absolutely loved it. A well designed, spacious house, with a high standard of furnishings and fittings.

It was spotless, well equipped and very comfortable. The garden is large and enclosed, and there are areas nearby where you can walk your dog. Absolutely no complaints; we enjoyed our stay. We have been on self catering holidays for many years, and this was one of the best houses we have stayed in. It is located in a small, quiet village near Penrith within driving distance of the main attractions of the Lake District.

Mill End is ideally located for exploring the Lake District.

It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen is spacious with a huge island to sit at. The Easter welcome basket was a thoughtful treat. The lounge was very comfortable with a cosy electric fire. It was lovely to sit on the patio listening to the river rushing by. We would definitely return to this property.

What an amazing Christmas break we had at Mill End.

The owners were amazing. Thank you to the owners for making us so welcome you had thought of everything. The owners met us when we got there & said don’t hesitate to ask for anything. The house is at a very high standard & loved that they had decorated the house for Christmas. They had left a very generous welcome basket. A very lovely touch. I have already booked for this year!!!

Lovely house and lovely area.

We arrived on the Monday we had that sigh of relief you have when you arrive at a strange location you’ve booked online, when you drive through the local area. Town of Penrith was on the door step and the villlage the house is located is somewhere you can walk through at night without fear. Virtually crime free. The house is located next to the river which gave a nice relaxing sound when you sleep. No need for Alexa to play relaxing sounds! The house is beautiful. We brought everything we need from tea towels to Salt and pepper but there is no need as the owners had stocked the house with all the essentials, even a welcome basket. Kitchen is a huge cooking and social area with a kitchen island and massive fridge/freezer. To our delight, we forgot to bring ice however the fridge dispenser had an ice option ( took the heat off me!). Living room comfy with electric fire place and the bedrooms where well set up with plenty of places for guests. The garden is fully sealed in for the dog to run around with no worries. We had a brilliant week at Mill end house. Top tip, try the crown pub in the village. Michael the landlord is a great character and does a mixture of English and Thai food. My only negative ( and this negative is only small) the pillows were a little bulky and hard. We would book again and bring those with us.

What a fabulous find couldn’t of wanted for more.

Everything you would need with a great location and good views of the river. Didn’t want to leave, the pictures do not do the property justice. We stay away a lot all over the country but have family in Penrith and have stayed at a few cottages but cannot praise this one high enough very thoughtful owners have thought of everything to give you a home from home. Sadly there’s only five stars would of like to give them 10.

Excellent welcome pack was provided. Property was spotlessly clean, comfortable and everything we needed was there. Neat and tidy secure garden .. perfect for us and our dog. Communication with owners was excellent. We wouldn’t hesitate to return on any future visits to the Lake District.

Mill End is a lovely house in a beautiful setting.

The sound of the river was most relaxing, and it was wonderful to have a 'resident' heron. The house was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated with everything you could want, extremely clean and a well-stocked welcome pack, including milk in the fridge - most welcome as we were desperate for a cup of tea when we arrived and had not brought milk with us! The owners were lovely and most approachable. Would be very happy to revisit at a future date.
