Enjoyable stay at Christine’s Stable.

There was a generous welcome pack upon arrival. The accommodation was comfortable, clean and had all the amenities required. We were also very lucky with a spell of hot weather. Owners very friendly and welcoming. Would recommend this property.

We stayed in the cottage with our two childern for a fortnight and had a wonderful experience.

It was spotlessly clean and fully equipped with all the amenities we needed. We especially appreciated the thoughtful basic survival kit (coffee, tea, sugar, butter, bread, butter cokies) provided by the owner at our arrival. The cottage is located on a very quiet farm a few miles east of Shap, away from the main tourist areas, which suited us perfectly. It lies conveniently between the Lake District, the Northern Pennines, and the Yorkshire Dales National Park, offering plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding countryside. Parking is available directly in front of the cottage, and there is a small terrace where you can relax and enjoy the afternoons and evenings. We received a very warm welcome from the owner and would highly recommend this cottage for anyone visiting the Lake District area.

We had a fantastic stay at The Stables.

The cottage was perfect and was very well equipped, it had everything we could possibly need. It was very clean and comfortable. The children loved seeing the ponies just outside the front door and none of us wanted to leave! It was a great base for exploring the area and we will definitely be back.

Our stay in the stable was great.

Nigel the owner was helpful from the start. The place is large, three good sized bedrooms which easily catered to the five of us. The back garden had ponies in which my youngest was thrilled at. The place was also spotless, everything was very clean. Oh and the views are amazing! Can’t help but praise the place.

The setting is very peaceful, the cottage is extremely well equipped and there was a useful welcome pack waiting for us. Helen had put some absolutely beautiful roses out. It is 5 minutes (by car) to the Butchers Arms pub which does really good food.

Wonderful peaceful location and a warm welcome to very comfortable accommodation.

The area is full of lovely villages, great walk and bikes rides (don't forget your climbing legs...). Very close to the Lake District but hardly any traffic and just as beautiful, so no need to stray west of the M6!

It is well decorated throughout. The owner is very friendly and we were greeted on arrival. There was a complementary basket of food and drink items. We had a lovely stay and on reading the visitors book everybody enjoys this property. I would rate it 10/10

Lovely spacious rooms and an ideal location to visit all the lakes and attractions. Sarah was very helpful on the phone prior to our arrival and Nigel come to greet us when we reached the cottage, there was even a little hamper with a few essentials, which makes all the difference to a nice stay. I would definitely recommend this property and we hope to return again in the future. Thank You.

Property done to a very high standard, although on a farm very quiet and relaxing,Nigel the owner came and introduced himself to us on arrival and we were delighted with the welcome pack left for us,such was the level of service that we had a problem with a slightly leaking kettle and it was replaced the same day,all in all absolutely fabulous place to stay.

We found the house was very spacious, homely and comfortable.

It was also in a beautiful setting. Mr. Jackson and Helen were very welcoming.

A very clean, comfortable and spacious property in a great setting.

There’s everything you’d need for a family holiday, with a well appointed kitchen and washer / dryer. The rooms are all large, with loads of built in storage and we found the beds comfortable. Nigel came and introduced himself at the start, and was very welcoming. It was a nice touch to have some of the basics (tea, coffee, bread, washing up liquid and even shower gel) put out for us. I’d highly recommend a stay here. You’re not right “on” one of the Lakes, but we preferred the quieter setting and everything’s just a short drive away. There’s a lot of footpaths and local walks immediately around the farm, if you’re more active than us.

The Stable is a lovely, peaceful retreat.

It contains everything you need for a relaxing holiday and Nigel is always on hand if you have any queries or need anything. It's the perfect location for visiting The Lakes or The Dales (and there's an amazing fish and chip shop just down the road)!! This was our third visit and we will definitely book again next year!

It had everything we needed to enjoy our week away. Nigel is an extremely genial host and made us feel most welcolme to his farm. An excellent place to stay if you want peace and solitude but easy access to the Lakes and the Yorkshire Dales.

The cottage was close to all the places we wanted to visit. The ponies were wonderful, the children really enjoyed seeing them. The cottage had everything you could need and Nigel was great at sorting anything we needed.

Really enjoyed meeting the ponies and cats. Visits to Durham, Raby Castle, High Force and Ullswater were easy and well worth doing. A truly beautiful part of the country and ideal for relaxing and getting away from it all.

A lovely chintzy property nestled into the countryside.

Close enough to both Penrith and Kendal for those who want some shopping or days out, but far enough away that you hear nothing but the sound of nature. The owners couldn’t be more accommodating, would recommend to anyone.

I wanted a holiday away from interference which you failed at delivering with your emails and texts. I’d hesitate to use your company again because of this.

This is a pleasant cottage with spacious rooms in a quiet rural location.

It worked well for our party of 5 plus two toddlers, who slept on a mattress we put on the floor. Tip: if you need a hair dryer or more than the bare minimum of toilet paper, bring them with you.

We all had a fabulous relaxing holiday.

Lovely cottage in a fairly remote and peaceful location.

The cottage itself is roomy and has everything you need, the owners were friendly and on hand if you had any problems. Although tucked away down a lane it's in a good position to explore the area, various days out are within range. There are a couple of excellent pubs nearby (driving distance!) for good food and a handy sized Coop shop for all shopping needs. Definitely somewhere we would return to in the future.

Owners very friendly and helpful. Only disappointment was lack of Christmas decorations/tree as staying over Christmas week.

We arrived on a cold dreich day. The fire was lit and the couple ensured that we were settled in before leaving us in peace. If it's a quiet peaceful retreat you're after then look no further. All in all, we liked the place so much that we bought it--only kidding! However, on arrival to Scotland, we rebooked. That I feel sums up our confidence and feelings for the cottage and the couple who run it.

Neat, comfortable and lovely cottage which is great for a family getaway, has all the facilities you will need for self catering plus location and views are fantastic.

The placed we stayed was super comfortable and the overall experience was brilliant from the time we booked the cottage until we left.

It's located in middle of farm far from the crowd yet is reachable within all tourist attractions.The owners were in touch through out and gave us tips about the places to visit.Definitely recommend this place for a comfy and peaceful stay.

A very peaceful spot, and lovely welcome by the owners - Mr and Mrs Jackson.

( with a tiny bit of updating it would be PERFECTION - and you can't say that about many places - including home!!) This is an ideal location with beautiful places to visit in any direction. The community pub, in nearby Crosby Ravensworth has good food and beer and is very welcoming - will probably need to book. After many weeks of hot sun we had some wet days, but it didn't spoil our holiday. You just need the correct clothes! We would not hesitate to book The Stables again

Nice coder table place with tranquility

We loved the location as it was quiet and off the beaten track.

Short drives to the various walking points like Glenridding and Pooley Bridge for walks around Ullswater, Buttermere and Haweswater. Eating out in the evening was a problem except for the Chippy about 10 mins drive, and 20 mins to the George & Dragon, an excellent restaurant. The cottage had all the home comforts, a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. Both Mr and Mrs Jackson were most welcoming and helpful during our stay. We would love to return to The Stables!
