The property

Hall Bank Cottage is tucked away between Grasmere and Ambleside, in the Lake District village of Rydal. Dating back to the 17th century, displaying its original beams, an open log fire and warm, uplifting colour schemes, this charm-filled cottage offers the ideal getaway for families and friends. With a spacious interior and walks from the doorstep, enjoy a well-deserved break. Enter via the porch or the entrance lobby, kick off your walking boots and get ready to relax into the evening. Receive a warm welcome from the reading room, which occupies small woodburner wrapped in a wooden surround. The lounge offers a traditional feel with an open log fire adding warmth to the room, whilst the snug is bright and airy with a pretty window seat. Just off from the sitting room in the dining room, which features the original spice cupboard. Lastly, the ground floor plays host to a utility and a laundry room, whist upstairs are the bedrooms, followed by two family bathrooms. Outside is a large enclosed garden with lawns to the front and off-road parking for three cars. A short walk will bring you to Rydal Water, one of the smallest lakes in the area, yet one of the most popular due to its connections to Wordsworth. It has attracted artists and poets for centuries. There is a cosy pub nearby and a tea room within the grounds of Rydal Hall and many facilities at the pretty village of Grasmere. Attractions at Windermere include The World of Beatrix Potter and Bowness Bay, and you also have Wray Castle and Loughrigg Fell, with fantastic views form its summit. A wonderful choice for your next break to Cumbria.

About the location

RYDAL

Ambleside 1.6 miles; Grasmere 2.7 miles.

Lying to the north of Ambleside and Windermere, Rydal is a charming unspoilt village full of history and which has changed little in the last two hundred years. Rydal Water with its shoreline walks adds an extra tranquillity to the location, which is one of the central most points of the Lake District. Home to William Wordsworth for some years there are many walks spreading out from Rydal with spectacular views. Wander along hillside paths to Grasmere, or up the impressive Rydal Fell and Nab Scar with fantastic scenery spanning as far as the hills on the west coast on a clear day. Or stroll through Rydal Park with its ancient and magnificent trees, past the thunderous waterfalls, revered by Wordsworth, and on to Ambleside with its numerous shops, restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes. Only a short drive away is Windermere with its water sports and boat cruises on Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake.
