Waingate Cottage

This was a lovely well equipped cottage in a beautiful setting.

The house was well furnished, decorated and felt very homely. We had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

We arrived at the cottage for a family/girls get together and there was 8 of us.

The cottage was immaculate and clean. There was a well stocked kitchen with all the utensils and cooking equipment needed for a large group. The beds were comfortable and we were left a lovely little welcome pack and guide for the home. There was cows just over the wall who came to see us and it was fun to watch the chickens be fed. Lovely seating area at the rear. Amazing location. We want to come back!!

We stayed here from 9th - 13th may.

And we were blown away by how ideal this was for our family. We have family a 5 minute walk away from this house so it was so convenient for us. The house was big enough for all of us to be comfortable. And the garden was stunning. It was so lovely to see the cows over the wall and then the chickens! The kids loved it. One of the nights we lit the fire, and we couldn’t find matches. So we text the host and within ten minutes we had matches. Honestly, couldn’t recommend this house more. Will be staying again for sure. Amazing.

What a beautiful place to stay, relax with friends and family in a home from home.

It's our 4th time staying here and we just LOVE it. The cottage is spacious, with all the amenities to make your stay wonderful. Despite It's size the cottage is warm and cos, light that log burner and relax with a glass of wine. Every room has a wonderful view across fields and the garden. The lane is quiet, so if you want to make a noise, no one will hear you. The owner, Julie is lovely, she'll pop by to make sure you're all settled in. You are welcomed as you come into the kitchen with a complimentary bottle of wine, milk, eggs and lovely flowers. The WIFI is good too. Plenty of lovely walks, there's some shops in the village and your not far from all the great places to visit. I've already booked for next February. I've only ever stayed in winter, but I can image being there in summer, the garden is lovely and a relax in the hot tub would make a perfect end to a summer's day. Honestly, this place is a MUST to stay.

The cottage was absolutely lovely.

It was even nicer in person than it looks on the pictures, just 2 min walk from a lovely view of the estuary and having fresh eggs from the farm made it a really special weekend for my mum's 60th birthday.

Everything was perfect. The difficulty we encountered that no shops can be reached on foot. Otherwise, it was excellent experience.

The garden was a highlight as the children could run around and explore without us worrying. Extremely comfortable. We only found the games in the drawers though when we were packing up. Very easy to get to Lake Windermere - would highly recommend the train!

A lovely peaceful retreat with a pretty private garden. Plenty of space for eight, with a very well equipped kitchen/dining area and a comfortable lounge.

An outstanding holiday home that exceeded expectations (and the photos).

The house is beautiful, spacious, warm and very well equipped. The location is incredible, so beautiful and peaceful and a very short walk to the spectacular Bay with lots of local footpaths. Not too far to the national park either. We had an amazing time here and would thoroughly recommend it to anybody.

We loved the cottage and location to some great days out.

Holker Hall, the steam train and boat ride to Bowness being 2 highlights. The house had everything we needed and lovely decor and homely comforts.

Very quiet huge garden which the kids loved and our dog. We loved our stay and can’t wait to re visit. 30 mins away from Windermere however we did travel around lots I would definitely recommend this place to anyone wanting to visit the Lake District.

It's the 3rd time we've stayed and it's still a wow factor when you walk in the door.

Just so homely. Julie the owner is fabulous, a gentle check in to see if everything is OK. Always there if you need her, not we have ever had to as everything is spot on. It's the little attention to detail that welcome you. Milk and eggs in the fridge, fresh flowers and a bottle of wine to get the holiday started. Toasty warm too (only stayed in Feb). Light the log burner, glass of wine and relax. Beautiful garden and fields surrounding you and no one else to disturb you. Beautiful walks literally around the corner into the bay, stunning. The rooms are lovely, plenty of room and if you need it the WiFi is excellent too. It is one of the nicest places I've stayed in. That's why I'm going back next Feb, can't wait. 10 out 10.

A large, homely cottage in quiet countryside.

Having just spent Christmas here we can not recommend this property enough!

Absolutely stunning cottage in a picturesque setting. Very rural peaceful feel but also a short walk into town and just an 8min drive to Cartmel and Grange over Sands. Beds super comfy. Kitchen stocked with every essential you could possibly need. Powerful showers. Spotless throughout. Decorated beautifully for Christmas too, thanks to the lovely owner. We hope to visit back again in the future! Do not hesitate to book here! You will love it!!

We, all six of us, had a very comfortable stay in this wonderful farm house.

As the cook in the family I really enjoyed getting to use the Rayburn. There wasn't anything about this property short of ideal. many thanks to Julie and her family. Woud love to return.

Fantastic 3 night break for Cartmel Races, Cottage/House has everything you need, 8 in our party plus 1 dog and everyone had enough space .

Wonderful garden with fruit trees, fully enclosed. Lovely walks in either direction. Julie the host popped in on our first night to check everything was ok Thank you for the welcome bottle of wine, it helped drown our sorrows after no winners at the races :) Highly recommend Waingate Cottage, 2 mins to Flookburgh and just over 8 mins to Cartmel. Perfect.

We had a lovely time in this spacious and well-equipped cottage, 6 adults and our dog Tilly.

The enclosed garden was perfect for meals outside around the large patio table. The immediate area is quiet, but its not far to places like Cartmel and Grange over Sands. If I had to be picky, I would say there could be more clothes hangers, but everything else was perfect! There are plenty of leaflets with ideas for days out. Julie was easy to contact and friendly, she left flowers and wine for us on our arrival. A great cottage for a family holiday!

Excellent holiday home, had all the facilities available and everything was a short distance away otherwise.

We had shopping delivered which worked out well, and Julie went above and beyond in regards to helping us. She was warm, friendly and approachable. Cannot recommend a stay here enough, it was wonderful.

This cottage was perfect for us in every way, with our family group ranging from 1 to 59 years + dog!

Every thought has been given to comfort and requirements, such as the choice of wall hanging facilities rather than domineering wardrobes, to the superbly comfortable beds. The garden is secluded and peaceful, ideal for relaxing and playing, and further enhanced by having cows for neighbours. The nearby estuary is a short walk and we heard and saw skylarks there. The owner, Julie, is very friendly and provided lovely welcome items, such as flowers and wine! We have been visiting the Lakes for many years and it has been a delight to find somewhere so peaceful in a school holiday week, so we could easily access busier areas when we wanted to, then come back to this haven of tranquility to recover!

We had a fabulous time at Waingate Cottage.

It was a home away from home. Our host was so friendly and kind, nothing was too much trouble. The house itself was very well equipped, extremely clean, the gardens were spacious and enclosed. Very safe for our 3yr old to run around. The location is excellent, so handy for getting to the Lakes, roughly 30-35mins from Windermere. Beautiful walks can be taken from the house, there is a little corner shop nearby as well as some restaurants a short drive away. We had 6 adults, 1 child and a dog in our party and the house held us all without any bother. Very spacious house, we would 100% recommend Waingate Cottage and we would definitely stay again. Thank you so much!

What a stunning cottage!

Thanks to the owners for a lovely stay in sunny Waingate Cottage. The garden is secure for children and curious dogs (although the calves in the next door field did push through the gate and explored the garden on one day!) Cottage is beautifully presented and very comfortable. There were 3 adults snd 1 child to feed and we did struggle with the half hob (there is a range but we didn't want to run the whole thing and heat the house given the glorious weather we had). A bread knife would be a welcome addition too! Such minor minor things though and neither would prevent us from booking again. Cottage is rural but accessible for amenities although finding a large supermarket locally completely stumped us. Lovely days out on the steam railway and Lake Windermere steamers. Plenty to do although no local sand beaches (all within 30 mins were just mudflats). Thanks again and for the lovely welcome pack - much appreciated. Last thing of note Cottage is very child friendly - cot (although no bedding) and stair gates were provided and accommodate for. Travelled with toddler and perfectly safe. Thank you for that!

We all had a fabulous time as a family at Waingate celebrating both sets of parents 50th Golden Wedding Anniversaries which they celebrate later this year.

The cottage was beautiful, very well appointed and Julie was the hostess with mostest. A lovely weekend, thanks.

We had a fantastic week at the cottage and couldn’t have been any happier.

The cottage is so well equipped and comfortable. Great kitchen / dining in which we loved playing games and sitting as our little Boy baked. Host was so welcoming and gave us good advice for a good walk which we managed. We recommend the pub in the village and used the bakery and shop. Great base and we enjoyed Grange over Sands and managed a day trip to Blackpool. Would highly recommend!!!

Waingate cottage is a fabulous place to stay.

A home from home. It's full of charm and a great place to relax and wind down. The facilities are excellent and if you like to cook and chat with friends, then the kitchen diner is a great place to enjoy wonderful times with people you love to be with. The wifi is excellent too. Great walks and stunning views surround you and it's a great place to explore the South Lakes. I've already booked my next stay.

The property is exactly as described, warm, cosy, extremely clean and has all the facilities you need for an enjoyable and comfortable stay.

Nothing was too much trouble for the owner who greeted us upon arrival and gave some really helpful advice. As our stay was during the christmas period, the touches that were implemented were perfect.....christmas tree, decorations, dining table beautifully decorated, chocolates, honestly, it was perfect. The area is beautiful and tranquil, but not too far from shops and I highly recommend a trip to the beach which is only 10 mins drive away, fantastic promenade. Thank you Julie for everything.

We stayed here for a girls weekend that we do once a year.

The house is absolutely beautiful, good sized rooms, and very clean! On arrival the owner checked in with us which was lovely and any problems we had she was easy to contact and assisted us! We had a fab stay and would definitely stay here again!

Hidden gem!

Ideal base for exploring the South Lakes area. A fully equipped house complete with a thoughtful welcome pack. A very warm property with a nice enclosed garden. Our host, Julie, took the time to call in on our arrival date to check if everything was okay, a nice, personal touch. Will hopefully stay again when returning to the area.

Wow, what a find!

Peaceful location on the edge of a working farm. Cottage fully equipped with everything you could possibly want, lovely and clean and a nice welcome pack and fresh flowers to. My granddaughters stopped with us for the weekend and when going for a walk we bumped into Julie the owner who let them help her feed a calf, they were delighted, absolutely loved cows as neighbours. We were blessed with good weather so could sit in the lovely cottage garden, overall a truly memorable holiday, thank you Julie

Omg ,we're do we start.

..we arrived 3 ladies of a certain age to the beautiful cottage... There was a lovely bunch of lillies plus wine bread and milk,how thoughtful.thank you so much...there was loads of room and every were was spotless... The garden is beautiful ,a peaceful safe haven...trees flowers ,and a washing line,there is outdoor furniture for those lazy sunny days...the whole house is catered for every need you need ,Julie is on hand to help you with anything you need and is so kind... We made friends with the cows in the field who were so friendly... Would I go again ? In a flash... It's perfect for escaping ,relaxing and us 3 ladies loved it...my review is also for my 3 friends as well as they feel the same about waingates...thank you for allowing us your beautiful cottage for the week to the Wilson family xx

Wonderful cottage in a fantastic location close to The Lakes and just over the hill to Morecambe Bay.

Everything you need is provided including a welcome pack that was a really nice touch. Walks nearby are great and having animals coming up to your garden wall was an absolute treat.

Thank You Julie for another Lovely Weekend at Waingate, this time we brought The Family who all loved it too ☺ Immaculately Clean, a nice Welcome pack, Comfy Beds spacious rooms, plenty of games to keep the Younger ones Happy and a lovely Cottage Garden that I am sure in better weather will be Idyllic to sit and take a Wee Glass and soak up the Sun.

We had a wonderful 3 night stay from 12th January 2023 We arrived at tea time and despite the cold, wet and windy evening, the cottage was so warm and cosy.

Fresh flowers, milk, eggs and a bottle of wine were a lovely touch too. There was nothing we could fault and we look forward to returning in the not too distant future.

Waingate Cottage was Perfect we had a 3 night stay, the Cottage is Clean, Spacious well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Beds are comfy, showers good even the Woodburner was set. We had rain most of the weekend but the Cottage was so nice we didn't care

Perfect hideaway great host Julie who provided a fantastic welcome pack.

The cottage was extremely clean. Our stay was faultless, relaxing and the perfect base to explore the Lake District.

Beautifully presented and maintained only thing to be careful with is the hot water it runs very very hot.

That's not a fault it's just to be aware if you have children. Great garden space peaceful and quiet.

Six of us - a three generational family - all really loved the property and its location.

Nothing to find fault with, could highlight so many plus points, but in particular standards of housekeeping. I know that many say they intend to return to a cottage and mean it, but somehow not quite get around to it, but I mean it, we will definitely be back!

The cottage was beautiful the welcome gift and fresh flowers in two rooms I thought was really kind and thoughtful.

The views were lovely we will definitely be returning. We all loved how peaceful it was it made the holiday . It’s great to have as a base to go exploring the country side and lakes and then after the end of a busy day to go back to silence was most welcoming

Great property, great host, great weekend!

The house is beautiful and well equipped. The couches and beds are really comfortable so we all slept well. The cottage is in a lovely location which is a 2 minute walk from the shore. We went to the local chip shop (next door to the post office) which was nice but we were advised to book the Pheasant for food. Unfortunately we couldn’t get a table as we tried to book too late but we had a few recommendations for this place. (We considered the Hope and Anchor for food but this is more geared up for drinks). We would definitely stay again!

The cottage was really clean, spacious, I loved all the antique furniture and the Aga.

Great games available to use, comfortable beds, lots of dried foods/condiments to use too. The only thing missing was a hairdryer.

A fabulous property in a beautiful location.

I have to say this is one of the best cottages I have stayed in. Plenty of room, each bedroom has a stunning view. The kitchen is fantastic, the rayburn is easy to use, although there is another oven and hob. Large dining table for everyone to gather around and chat whilst preparing food. Lovely living room too, that gets nice and toasty when you light the fire. Beautiful secluded garden (can imagine it being wonderful in summer sitting out there). Plenty of lovely walks on your doorstep. Just walk around the corner on you are on the shore, haven for bird life. What made our stay extra special, were all the little touches. Bread (nice crusty one), milk, Red wine as a welcome. Washing up liquid, handwash, sanitizers etc. We felt instantly at home. Julie, popped by soon after we arrived just ot make sure we were Ok and to run us through a few things. She was always on hand if we needed her, but no need, we had everything. One last thing the WIFI was excellent. This property is well worth a visit. I shall be going back next year.

Waingate cottage is stunning.

The rooms were warm, clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bonus of being there at Christmas was the beautiful Christmas decorations and of course the wood burner which for me personally, was a wrench to leave!! The only one thing missing if I was to nit pick would be a hairdryer but not really an issue. Julie was on hand to answer any questions we had before we traveled which was fantastic. Would definitely return in the warmer months to explore the beautiful surroundings more thoroughly.

The cottage was absolutely perfect for our weekend stay with family.

Set in a beautiful location, close to the sea and surrounded by fields, the cottage was spacious yet cosy. The hosts were really welcoming, meeting us as we arrived and leaving us plenty of logs for the log burner and some treats and beautiful flowers for our stay. The cottage was beautifully presented and very clean and it was clear to see that lots of thought had gone into making sure that Covid risks were reduced. There was clear information available about everything we needed to know and everything was there that was needed for our stay. We absolutely loved our stay at Waingate Cottage and could not fault it. The owners have gone to great lengths to ensure this is a lovely, welcoming place to stay.

Home from home.

Everything provided. Very quiet as only walkers passing the frontof the cottage. Julie only two minutes away at farm if needed. She provided recommendations on places to eat and visit. Our grandsons were able to run round in the field opposite. Ideal for walking picking up many routes. The play park in the village was excellent for the children. Not sure you could walk to a pub in 10 minutes though! We had rain most days so the log burner was very welcoming. Thank you Julie for a great holiday. Would love to return in the future.

We had a great time with in this really comfortable, attractive cottage, which is tucked away in a peaceful spot.

It was a good location with many of the lakes’ tourist attractions less than an hour’s drive away, through spectacular countryside. The owners were helpfully nearby but gave us complete privacy. The WiFi was good too - vital when you’ve got four teenagers in the house! We’d go back!

What an amazing cottage, we had a wonderful break.

The cottage had everything we needed and the garden was a stunning peaceful sun trap. Julie was lovely and popped once to check we had everything then was at the end of the phone if we needed anything. Highly recommend staying here and will 100% be back, hopefully when it's cooler as my husband was disappointed not lighting the gorgeous fire. Fantastic break!!!

Absolutely gorgeous cottage.

Surpassed my expectations. After a hard year in the NHS it was just what I needed to get away from it all. Gorgeous cottage with great facilities. Lovely owners and welcome pack. Location is idyllic but not too remote. Fish and chip shop and bakery in the village excellent. The village pub also A* Windermere is a short drive away and was worth the visit. I would definitely return to Waingate.

Waingate is a large comfortable delightful house which is immaculately clean and very well equipped.

The owners are really friendly and helpful but never intrusive. We had a wonderful relaxing holiday in a beautiful area within easy reach of the lakes.

We loved our little break.

Julie was so warm and welcoming and the cottage was incredibly clean and well-kept. One of our highlights was spending the evening around the log fire. Close to Windermere and other Lake District destinations, we would recommend Waingate Cottage to anybody!

If you DO NOT like a cosy warm and isolated cottage, cattle in the next field, access to costal walks, easy access to the lakes, viewing the milky way and shooting stars in complete darkness, only hearing the birds and the odd bovine noise in the day, a secure garden for your dog, then this is not the place for you ;-) We had a great break in these testing times, Julie was an excellent host and the welcome pack was well received.

Lovely owner (Julie). Everything in the accomodation you needed. A firepit for outside would be great though for the cooler nights. We will definitely book this place again.

Lovely cottage in a quiet location but easy to access all the Lake District has to offer. Cottage spotlessly clean with excellent facilities and friendly hosts. Couldn't ask for anything more.

There was a lovely warm welcome from the owner as we arrived.

She was very helpful with local information and had left a smashing welcome pack that included fresh local produce. The cottage was authentic with flag floors to the hall and kitchen which were wonderful. The cottage is well equipped with lots of space with 4 beds and 2 bathrooms. Plenty of hot water for long bath or shower after a day walking. The area is full of beautiful walks- the sea is less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage.We have been to this cottage twice now and will go again. Highly recommend it.

hi,Our stay at winegates was very good.

Unfortunately 3days into our holiday I was taken poorly and ended up in Furness Infirmary.The owners of the property made sure tha my wife had everything she needed,they went that" extra mile." to make sure she was ok.The property is in fairly good condition ,just a bit of "TLC"needed in a few places,apart from that ,very comfortable.Plenty of good walks in the immediate area,the nearest pub,in flookburgh,its ok ,food ok beer very expensive compared to other places.

When we arrived there was a welcoming log burner in the living room making the whole cottage cosy and warm.

The cottage was very comfortable with tasteful decor and lots of extra equipment making it a home from home vacation. We spent the weekend there to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday but the added bonus of the Christmas tree and decorations were a lovely touch.

The setting is perfect for a week away from the hustle and bustle of normal life. A very relaxing place to stay with everything needed for an enjoyable time with family and friends.

Everything about the property was perfect.

Super clean, spacious, quiet and shops only few minutes walk away. I can see the property being perfect for a large family however definitely perfect for a group of friends like us too. We had the perfect weather too, warm and sunny during the day and clear bright sky filled with stars at night. Thank you making our trip very memorable.

We had a lovely week in Waingate cottage and would definitely recommend it.

There were eight of us staying there, aged 70 to 14 years of age. Everything was as per description and photo’s. Owners were very helpful and there were some lovely touches when we arrived including fresh eggs, bread, flowers, milk and wine. The cottage was spacious and we weren’t treading on each others toes. There were 3 generations and we had a lovely time playing games in the evening and having lots of laughs making special memories. Would recommend the local bakery and The Pheasant Inn for lovely food and very pleasant staff. Thank you

Good location with easy access to shore and walks, Cartmel and Holker Hall and further afield to the lakes. Lovely enclosed garden for dog and child to safely play. Waingate is set in lovely rural setting surrounded by fields at bottom of the lane is the salt marshes there are some lovely walks around flookburgh.

Our party included 6 adults, a 9 year old, 2 babies and small dog this property is more than big enough to accommodate these 3 families. We all stayed the same time last year and had a fabulous time, weather was excellent and most meals were taken in the lovely cottage garden. A visit to the fat flour bakery is a must in the village a short walk from Waingate where you will find the biggest nicest vanilla slice, best bakery in the area. Julie one of the owners of the property is very accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. A lovely farmhouse to spend time with your family a good holiday was had by all including the dog.

Lovely spacious cottage that felt like home from home and everything we needed was there. Clean towels and lovely fresh bedlinen meant a really good nights sleep I would definitely visit again and highly recommend it. This was also my first holiday rental and it was so easy.

A very well equipped and comfortable holiday home which was beautifully prepared for our stay.

The owner was very welcoming and helpful. The garden was attractive and secure for our dog. A number of walks are possible straight from the cottage and we particularly liked being able to walk the few yards to the salt marsh and beach. There are several attractions within a short drive and access to the southern Lake District is easy.

We had a lovely stay at Waingate cottage.

The cottage was clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing home from home stay. We got a lovely welcome from Julie on the day of our arrival which made us feel very welcome and she assured us if we had any problems or questions we only needed to ask. It was the perfect cottage for our dog Alfie too, with a great sized fully enclosed garden for home to play in. He certainly felt right at home too. The local area was lovely, although the roads at times can be a bit hair raising. Most places we found were extremely dog friendly, so always found somewhere to eat out with no trouble bringing Alfie along. All in all a great holiday and great base to explore the surrounding area. Will definitely be looking to book again in the future.

The house is set in a beautiful and peaceful location but within easy reach of lots of places. We thoroughly recommend staying here.

The accommodation was stunning - it far exceeded our expectations and the pictures of the property do not do it justice.

The family who own the property were extremely accommodating and friendly, ready to help if we needed. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed for the stay. The spacious garden was ideal for the children to run around in and lovely for BBQs in the evenings. We will definitely be going back!

My whole family spent a week at Waingate Cottage, in total 6 adults 2 children, baby and Ted the schmoodle.

The property was lovely, very sympathetically renovated with furniture to fit the style of the property, the garden was very well laid out and nicely kept with plenty of flowers and apple trees, a lovely cottage garden which was a total credit to Julie and her Family. I would very much recommend this property we had a lovely week all together with plenty of room for all the family, I would not hesitate to rent this property again it was lovely and quiet and no one bothered us. The area around the cottage was very interesting, 5 minute walk to the marshland and a lot of really nice walks. There is plenty to do in the area and plenty of facilities. A must is to visit the artisan bakery for one of the very special vanilla slices big enough to feed 2 people also had a lovely meal in the pheasant inn, 5 minutes away in the car. A big thank you to Julie for making us so welcome hope to come back next year.

This cottage is fabulous.

First time user of Sykes and WOW - we were not let down, in fact, the cottage was actually better than the photos. Fabulously quiet, that was the best thing about it and the beds were so comfy - my husband and I felt so relaxed. The village is great and has the amenities you want. The weather was the best we have had for years and that made the experience even better. We spent a lot of time in the garden relaxing - again so quiet. We live in Glasgow and to get away from the hustle and bustle of City life was amazing.

Waingate cottage is a wonderful location to explore the South Lakes, either by car or by foot - which was great news to the designated drivers as there a number of great pubs nearby.

It is secluded without being isolated. The cottage itself comfortably accommodated 8 adults. It is immaculately kept and has great facilities, all the home comforts!

I booked Waingate so my family and I could have some quality time away to celebrate my 50th Birthday.

It did not disappoint! We loved everything about the cottage, it has been sympathetically renovated, we liked the mix of modern and traditional furnishings.The cottage is spacious, and the sofas and beds were really comfortable. For 8 people the two bathrooms are totally a must! The garden is lovely and it was great to be there during lambing season, we liked that the cottage is on a working farm, in fact we were all saying we would love a go on the farmers quad bike, it looks like great fun buzzing up and down the hill. We loved the fact there were no street lights outside the cottage, it is a real escape venue. The wifi is intermittent, but we knew this when we booked and was not a problem for us. The Hope and Anchor pub had been recently refurbished too, we spent my birthday in the beer garden, can highly recommend the food as well as the hospitality and service of the team. Oh one last thing, If you sneak into Flookburgh for a cheeky ice cream and want to keep it a secret from the family left behind in the cottage, don't mention it to the farmer, he totally dobbed us in to my brother! Hahahaha! And yes, it is really lovely to know they are there in case of any problems, we would all love to go back again! Thanks Julie for a great holiday. xx

Waingate Cottage is a hidden gem.

It's so quiet and peaceful and within very easy reach of the superb walks and sights the Lake District has to offer. The cottage is spacious, light and well fitted, with very comfortable beds. It's really warm and cosy and also has a log burning stove for extra comfort. The enclosed garden is beautiful and perfect for dogs and children. The hosts were friendly, helpful and welcoming but completely unobtrusive. The staff at Sykes are great and were very helpful in providing details about the cottage, placing a reservation and finally completing our booking. Really straightforward- would definitely recommend!

This cottage was booked as a treat for myself and family from my son over the mother’s day weekend.

We were met by Julie the owner who was genuinely warm and friendly. She let us in to give us a quick guide re the aga/ heating etc. which was very helpful as it wasn’t the warmest of weather! As well as a lovely welcome pack of goodies she had also filled a jug with fresh pink roses for mother’s day !! The cottage had four bedrooms that were done in a traditional style with original period furniture and fireplaces. The bed linen was all crisp and white as were the plentiful towels provided. There were two showers in the bathrooms that ran independently of each other ie: one from the boiler and the other electric so they could be used at the same time to minimise waiting for the eight of us. The log burner in the lounge was all set for its first fire with plenty of logs and kindling provided. This was great to come home too after our daily dog walk. The cottage itself was set in a beautiful garden with mature trees and an old well ( no longer in use ) . It’s was all enclosed and felt very safe. It’s location was perfect for doorstep country, village and coastal walks so no need for the car which is always a bonus!! In all I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough and hope that I can return in the not so distant future. Thanks again Julie for providing such a beautiful home from home cottage!

Perfect perfect cottage - this place is a tardis - the photos don’t do it justice, beautifully clean, four double bedrooms, amazing shower, crisp white bed linen and everything you need in the kitchen to cook for eight adults.

The owner is very accommodating and always available to help with anything. We will be staying here again and again it’s just so lovely.

Amazing holiday, welcomed by the owner who told us where she would be if we had any problems, wine fresh bread and nibbles waiting for us on arrival.
