Browside was perfect for our family of 11.

The children loved the hot tub. The kitchen is well equipped and having all those bathrooms was amazing! We had a wonderful week. Thank you.

We had a brilliant weekend at Browside.

It was comfortable and well equipped for a party of 14. The only downside was the capacity of the ovens which are quite small when catering for a large party. The Aga was out of use which would have given us more cooking space. That said we managed ok as we had mostly prepared. It was great to have lots of parking and the location was beautiful and within easy access of everything we wanted to do. We really enjoyed the hot tub. We would definitely go back. Thank you

Browside was comfortable and very well equipped. Helen was friendly and helpful.

Overall we were very happy with the accommodation.

One minor gripe was that the bike store was not really a drying room as we've known them. It wasn't really a problem though as there was a good tumble dryer to dry out damp clothes (we had a very wet week!). Also, it was a bit crowded in the vestibule for a group kitting up for a day on the hills. By putting a few old chairs in the bike store this would solve the problem. The hot tub was excellent.

Well appointed accommodation and spotlessly clean, the location is beautiful and the view spectacular, the bungalow layout worked perfectly for our multi aged party, access to the accommodation is up stairs so disabled access limited, perfect location to experience and explore the area.

Well maintained and equipped. Great to have so many ensuites and modern family bathroom with a family group aged one to 94! Well maintained property with hot tub Good off road parking and well tended gardens. Views were stunning. Such a convenient location too. Helen (owner) was available but unobtrusive and friendly. We would definitely book this property again.

Had a great stay, the house was very well equipped and comfortable for the us.

We were a multi generational family of 12 staying there and everyone was well suited. Two dishwashers was amazing and the hot tub so good.

This property is spacious, modern and well equipped for any adventure groups requirements.

The layout offers quiet areas for those who need time away from the grandkids. Beautiful scenery from the living areas, great outdoor areas for sitting and eating, good parking. Location is excellent for walk to the Lake and within walking distance to nearby pubs and Coniston for those who are able. Helen, the host is friendly and always available to assist and advise. Glad we found it.

Lovely house. Friendly owners. Not much to fault. Only gave 4 for cleanliness as the fridge water dispenser was not clean, also 1 person felt his pillows smelled. Apart from these tiny things Browside was immaculate, a tribute to the cleaning staff considering its size.

Six adults, two children and one dog all had a wonderful holiday.

The house was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space. Any problems we had were quickly resolved by the owners but could have been sorted by us if we’d taken the time to read the handbook

Browside is set overlooking beautiful countryside.

The owners live next door and met us to show us round. They are very helpful and friendly and not intrusive in any way. The facilities of Browside are fantastic and just what we needed for 12 adults, 4 children and a dog. The baby twins and parents were accommodated in a bedroom near the kitchen and living area, away from the other bedrooms. No one else was kept awake at night. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms spacious enough for holiday clothes etc.

Perfect for our 80th birthday away weekend.

Lovely views from the cottage and lots of walks if you’re energetic. There’s a pub 15-20min walk along a disused railway line, perfect for lunch and a nice wood burning stove to come home to. When your muscles are aching there’s always the hot tub……perfect

Great house very warm everything you need , comfortable bedrooms and spotless .

We stayed at Browside for 3 nights with 13 adults and 3 babies for my husbands 30th birthday and was nothing short of incredible!

The views are something else!! Plenty of space, comfortable beds, nice cosy home! Would recommend to absolutely anybody and we will definitely be returning! The owners were lovely too which is always a bonus⭐️

Super accommodation, highly recommended plus beautiful scenery.

Our car club have a spring tour each year and this year 13 of us from the North London MG Club took a trek up to Coniston Water, a 300 ish mile drive, but well worth it.

We had many varied drives through the area as well as some very enjoyable walks and visits to local villages, towns and attractions, oh and can recommend NHS 111 and the Westmoreland Hospital in Kendal. The house was more than adequate for all of us and the facilities and equipment were appropriate. We enjoyed our stay and all the new born lambs in the adjacent field.

Great property that allowed large family to get together in a wonderful location.

Plenty of free entertainment for the kids, watching the farmer herding his sheep. Will recommend to friends.

The property is ideally set up for a large family or group gathering.

The house is in good order, nicely decorated and well furnished. The kitchen is particularly well equipped with more than enough cookware, serving dishes, crockery and cutlery. The bedrooms are a good size and very comfortable. We particularly appreciated that most of the rooms had an en-suite. The hot tub was great fun, especially after a walk. Any queries we had both prior to and during our stay were promptly answered. We will undoubtedly be back.

This is a great place to stay, it was immaculate, the bedrooms and living rooms were really comfortable and the kitchen very well stocked.

Unfortunately we had atrocious weather but apart from that we had a fab holiday

Bathrooms had very slight smell of damp or mould. Otherwise faultless.

We had a brilliant week in this amazing property- we loved everything about it, what a gem!

This accommodation was used for an extended family holiday with 6 adults and two children + a Spaniel.

Fortunately the weather was better than forecast and plenty of opportunity for walking and climbing from the house. Mountain biking facilities in nearby Grizedale Forest and boating in Coniston Water. The house however is so comfortable and well equipped that poor weather would have been bearable. The hot tub is first class and was very popular. At the risk of blocking our own plans to rebook we would highly recommend Browside as a holiday venue for up to 14 people in a rural setting with plenty of off road parking.

Our second visit with two more small Grandchildren this time.

We were greeted by Helen the owner on arrival who was happy to help with anything if needed. The house is lovely and ideal for a family of mixed generations. So much room for everyone to relax and enjoy the holiday and beautiful surroundings. Such a well equipped and very clean property too with everything you could possibly need. Cross the road and there is a footpath with a pleasant half a mile walk to the lovely pub at Torver. We had a lovely week despite some rather damp weather but then it is the Lake District so just come prepared for four seasons in one day. We would highly recommend the property and would love to come back. Thank you Helen.

A huge house in a great location with plenty of room and situated with views of Lake Coniston.

A great base to explore the wider Lake District and of course take on the 'Old Man'.

Lovely sized house, great views.

Could of done with being cleaned properly before our arrival. Beds were uncomfortable. Would of been nice to control the hot tub temperature ourselves.

Comfortable beds, lots of lovely clean bathrooms and loads of space to lounge in. The kitchen had everything we needed and two dishwashers came in very handy. We are an extended family ranging from 3 to 66 plus a dog and we all agreed it’s the best stay we’ve had

We had a lovely holiday and the children enjoyed the hot tub.

We had several enjoyable local walks. We were a bit surprised that we had to strip the beds etc as we were not aware of this as a contractual obligation. This niggle aside we had a lovely time.

Had a wonderful time. Cottage was great with all facilities and utilities needed. Hot tubs fantastic. Owners on hand if any problems but did not interfere at all. Fantastic location. Perhaps only downside was that a couple of the showers were very small especially in ensuite of bedroom off the lounge. We will certainly book again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Browside was an excellent property for all our family to stay.

Everything we needed within the property was provided. The two dishwashers were essential for fourteen of us and the washing machine and tumble dryer were well used as the weather was wet and kids liked getting wet and muddy. We all enjoyed the weeks break and would recommend the property for its location and facilities.

Knives in kitchen need replacing, no peeler or garlic press.

Browside was a perfect choice for our family get together ( 3 couples and 2 widowed) with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms.

which were all comfortable and spotless. It is in a lovely situation with beautiful views. The lounge was fine for 8 but would be crowded with 14. The sofas are very large and too wide in the seat to be comfortable and one of them sags badly. Would suggest some smaller sofas and one or two more chairs.. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of crockery, glassware and pans etc but the kitchen knives need sharpening or a knife sharpener provided. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Browside and would return.

Fantastic views and great walks of various lengths. The house was clean and warm and the hot tub was a great treat! Kitchen had everything we needed and we were cooking for 13 people! Would definitely stay again.

Wonderful house plenty big enough for 2 couples and 2 families of 4.

Great location, lovely to sit in not tub and look out at views. Coniston a 40 minute walk away with small co op, and spar. Garage and good chip shop in village. The entertainment from the sheep and dogs was added bonus. Steep drive and steps to house could cause some problems, but house itself all on one level. Would thoroughly recommend.

Everything three families needed was there, particularly the en suite bathrooms.

The attention to detail was impressive - eg flowers on the table on arrival and lots of information about the Lake District and local walks, it was exceptionally well equipped, very clean, the teenages enjoyed the hot tub, there was adequate parking and the garden was dog proof. There was even a TV in each room! It was a memorable week, no rain and temperature in the lower 30s! A great place for a family reunion.

Just enjoyed a fabulous extended family holiday at Browside.

There were 8 of us plus 1 dog. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy both the property and the surrounding beautiful countryside. Great access to the local pathways and facilities. The walk to Coniston was around the 5k mark going along the lake side and full of things to see. Paddling in the lake was very popular. The hot tub was clean, well used and great after a busy day exploring. We would thoroughly recommend the accommodation and the location. Watching the local farmer and his dogs round up the sheep in the adjoining field, was the icing on the cake.

12 of us stayed in Browside this weekend and were all very happy.

Cottage is well positioned in a great location Very clean and tidy Kitchen has everything you need to cook, clean, wash. Plenty of room in the house Very good.

Two dishwashers is a great idea with such a large group. Hot tub was great for adults and kids even if raining you are warm and can appreciate the stunning views.

Stayed at Browside as a family of 14+1 for a 60th birthday celebration.

The youngest member of the family was 1 whilst the oldest is 86. The cottage is gorgeous with incredible views in a really nice location. The owners are always available and responsive to any queries. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

Ideal place for a lovely walking holiday, close to Coniston Lake and the village of Coniston with plenty of amenities, lovely modern spacious house, hot tub a bonus, would recommend.

Bit of a mixed stay.

Some good stuff, quite a bit disappointing stuff too. I won’t write too extensively, but here are the highlights of what I would have wanted to know before booking (or if I had already booked what was coming). The good: - location is great and the views are amazing - the hot tub is lovely and clean/modern and is well maintained - big fridge and freezer The less good: - very poorly stocked. Not even sugar and tea. Literally you will have to bring or buy everything you need. It’s quite frustrating and not what I expect or have experienced from other holiday houses in this price bracket. - the knives are blunt, and the pots are old and food sticks to it. Bring your own (add it to the list of your own stuff you need to bring). - the owner/manager lives next door and you have virtually no privacy. We had 6 people plus a baby staying for the week and needed a bigger place cos my brother and his family (2 adults 2 kids) came for the weekend. Total 11 people in a house advertised for 14. We also on the Saturday had a friend staying in the area (2 adults, 1 kid) and invited them for lunch. Had the owner come to us and say the house is only for 14 people and we aren’t allowed to have more and also that we only booked for 11 people. Didn’t seem to believe us when we explained that we were the usual people and had a couple and their kid over for lunch. This is indicative of always feeling like we were being watched. Not terribly relaxing. - damp smell in one of the rooms and we had to move out of that room and close the door. We had the extra room to be able to do so, but if we didn’t, it would have been a problem.

Its a very comfortable spacious home great for families.

However due to situation not suitable for anyone with disabilities. We would def stay again.

The views from the property were fabulous including from the hot tub!

The property itself was very comfortable and clean, the kitchen well equipped. Every bedroom was en suite which made life very easy. The owner was very friendly and informative about walks, shops etc. The parking is fine, the driveway is no longer shared and there are gates to the road you can close if you have small children as we did. The steps outside do mean that very small children need to be supervised.

The house was very clean and modern, hot tub was fantastic and the views absolutely stunning.

Helen was very helpful and her cottages were lovely , so homely.

The area was in driving distance of any walks we wanted to do. On top of old man Coniston and a little pub in Torver ( The Wilson arms) . We had a lovely meal and they accommodated 18 of us, no problems . I We would highly recommend the two cottages , added bonus hot tub which everyone enjoyed .

We found it a super property for a large group with excellent sleeping facilities and entertaining areas coupled with lovely views from the house.

Well located with great walks direct from door and also for Kayaking on Coniston water. It was a perfect fit for our group with a short walk to the pubs in Tover a real bonus.

Description of house stated it had an enclosed garden-while this was true in that there were fences all around the property it was misleading in that the space was not at all suitable for 3 young children; there were lots of steps and a steep driveway.

If we had known this we would have looked elsewhere.In all other respects the house was excellent.

Helen, the owner was so lovely and helpful; her holiday house was ideal for our group of friends to get together and relax.

The hot tub was a really nice luxury, fantastic looking across the countryside and the patio decking was a lovely place to sit in the sunshine. The kitchen is really well equipped, good laundry facilities, very clean bathrooms and bedrooms. An excellent house all round! Looking forward to a return visit in the future.

Helen and Allan have created a wonderful holiday home from the original two bedroom bungalow to today's 14 person retreat.

The furnishings and appointments were uniformly of a very high standard and clearly maintenance and best quality appointments were important to the hosts. We found the location ideal for our family gathering and the views from picture windows were enchanting especially when the local shepherd was working his sheep with three dogs simultaneously. It gave us a wonderful Lake District holiday -and the hot tub played its part, too!

Lovely walk for evening meals at the Wilsons Arms nearby at Torver

This is a fantastic house and the owners are lovely, If there was anything we wanted that was not provided we only had to ask.

The house has a lovely warm welcoming feel to it which makes you feel at home straight away. All the rooms are tastefully decorated and the beds are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well kitted out with everything you need for whatever you want to cook, even cake tins if you feel in the mood for baking. Both the dining room and the lounge have views to die for and the seating in both very comfortable. The hot tub was an added bonus and the decked patio area looked out over Coniston water. There were 10 of us staying + 2 dogs for 2 weeks and at no time did it feel crowded. We all had a fantastic holiday and could have stayed for ever. There is an excellent pub approx 1/2 mile walk down a footpath (ex railwayline) which does excellent food and allows dogs in the bar and also another on the way to Coniston, Probably about a mile away. The Fish and Chip shop in the village is excellent and so is Sara's Indian Restaurant and take away. There are 3 small supermarkets, the co op, a Premier shop and the spar at the garage, also an excellent bakers, so you can shop local if you do not want to spend your time travelling to Kendal for the major supermarkets. We would highly recommend this house and we intend to go back in the not to distant future.
