“We had a Monday to Friday stay and chose this cottage due to price, location to Scafell Pike and availability.”

The cottage was fine indeed. The welcome pack was a pint of milk and there was some tea, coffee, sugar in the cupboard on arrival. It was May so we didn't use the fire or heating, the house was warm enough. The beds and showers were good. We didn't see any dirt etc but we don't go looking for it. Parking was on the main road but our little Corsa was fine where it was. Information on bin collection days would be great as we arrived to an overflowing bin. By chance i was outside mid-week when the bin men arrived so that cleared that up. I found the tv difficult to use as the remote for it has no markings on some of the buttons and i couldn't remember what button did what (mainly for accessing streaming services). There's no local shop with the nearest shop being The Coop in Seascale (about 3 miles away) which was a doddle to get to by car and has a Chinese takeaway, a pizza takeaway and pharmacy opposite it. The village bakery, we used once and did a nice bacon butty. We didn't try the village pubs. The cottage had enough utensils etc for the 2 of us. The towels and bedding were lovely and the towels were large enough to go around my big waist! The loft bedroom was quite warm due to the great weather of the week but my wife absolutely loved the big bed. Parking at Wasdale head for getting up Scafell was £9.50 for the day by coins but you can pay by card in the NT office when its open. There's also toilets and a water bottle filling station at the car park place. Signs were easy to follow and if not, there's enough people bobbing up and down Scafell to track. We even met a very fit lady who cycled from Gosforth regularly to then get up and down Scafell to litter pick it! Back to the cottage; overall we would stay here again for sure as everything we did use in the cottage worked fine for us.
