“My hubby and I had a wonderful weeks stay at Longwell house the location was perfect and central to get to every location within the lakes, it’s situated well back of the main road be careful when going down to the farm as there are sheep feeding at the beginning and are sometimes on the road leading down but they will move and go onto the grass it’s quite a way down to the farm but keep to the left and you will come to the houses you can park on the left and the house is in the middle.”

You will be greeted by Christine who will show you around the house and tell you a little about it !!! The house is beautiful you will not be disappointed it has everything you need for your stay it’s very warm and welcoming just like the owners, there is a brown folder on the dresser in the lounge with all you need to know and there are instructions on how to use the oven and washing machine/dryer and the dishwasher if you are unsure, the log burner is easy there is a cupboard at the back of the sofa with kindle paper and lighters in and a basket of wood logs at the side and instructions in the folder how to prepare and light it, if you have never done one before. The Farm was very quiet but getting ready for lambing as we were coming away, very peaceful and quiet pitch black at night but very warm and cozy. The weather was not good rained the whole time for our stay but that didn’t stop us from going out couldn’t do the foot path walks because the visibility was awful we did go to Beetham on the only dry day we had and did the fairy steps walk that’s a good 3-4 hour walk in the forest you need your walking boots for that as it’s quite muddy but a good walk.We had a lovely week at Longwell House very relaxing and Chris and Andrew the owners are so welcoming, and we will be returning, we hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

The property

Selside 1.6 miles.

Longwell House is a beautifully situated two bedroom semi-detached cottage that is both modern yet calm and cosy, like a great cottage should be.

Every room in the property has big windows that allow guests the chance to take in the picturesque landscape during their whole stay here.

On the ground floor, after you walk in, guests are met with a very large and modern kitchen and dining area that is complete with everything needed to cook big family meals, and do so in front of the electric stove.

After a long day exploring the surrounding hills, you can relax in the sitting room on one of the sofas, watch some television and enjoy the wood burning stove.

Up the impressive staircase are the two comfortable king-size double bedrooms one with an en-suite bathroom and the other with an en-suite shower room, meaning all guests can stay here in comfort.

Outside of the property is an enclosed lawned garden along with a small patio area for relaxing if the weather is nice.

Beyond that are rolling green hills that make the countryside a pleasure to gaze out at.

The nearest town to the property is Kendal in Cumbria, where guests can find shops, pubs, restaurants and all the other amenities you may need.

Due to the nature of the area, guests are usually keen to take long walks to soak up the natural beauty or visit the abundance of historical museums, churches and castles that are dotted around the region.

With room for four people, this loveable cottage is perfect for families and groups of friends who want to escape to the country in typical cottage fashion, but have all the modern amenities from home.

Longwell House is the perfect holiday home for a family break or a larger celebration when booked with Longwell Cottage.
