“Good location for exploring the Lakes.”

The cottage requires maintenance and better cleaning. The living room and kitchen floors were dirty, dust and cobwebs in many areas, and the shower mat was mouldy. The cottage was very cold (it was June but a typically unpredictable English summer), and there are individual electric heaters in the living room, bathroom and bedrooms, but none in the kitchen or entrance/upstairs hallway so we had to keep putting on the heaters seperately to warm up the house, and then it would get cold again very quickly when we turned them off. Needs insulation and central heating. Would not recommend staying with children or elderly people due to the temperature. No handwash in the kitchen. Very dated.

Dear Guests, Thank you for your feedback. I’m so sorry our cottage did not meet your expectations. I can only apologise. Response to your comments.. The heating system is efficient if the heaters are left on during your stay and turned up or down according to the temperature. There is also an electric flame fire in the sitting room to boost heat in the evenings. My cleaner is very reliable and we have not had any complaints of this nature during the 10 years of letting No7, but I will let her know your comments. Hand wash and other cleaning products are kept under the sink and usually well stocked. To reassure you, we have had families with young children staying and also returning. We are in our 70’s and stay 4 times a year, in all seasons. and frequently doing maintenance to keep No7 looking pleasant and welcoming for our guests. Property Owner

The property

A cosy mid-terrace cottage, formerly homes for the local bobbin mill-workers, located in the sleepy village of Spark Bridge, just 5.5 miles from Ulverston.

This comfy cottage enjoys views across the river to the rear, and is just ten minutes’ drive from Coniston Water on the boundary of the beautiful Lake District National Park.

As soon as you step inside, you’ll immediately feel welcome.

The open plan living area, with its cosy sitting area and kitchen/diner, provides a perfect place to settle together.

A stable door opens onto the garden, with steps leading down to extensive shared lawns, garden chairs and benches and the River Crake.

With lovely accommodation, which has been tastefully enhanced to maximise the original features, the cottage offers one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and a shower room on the first floor.

Outside, at the rear, there are open grounds shared with the rest of the terrace, which stretches down to the river.

Just a short walk takes you to the village pub and benches on the village green alongside the River Crake, while two miles up the road in Greenodd you will find a couple more pubs, a bakery, a butcher's shop, a fish and chip shop and a convenience store.

Being ideally situated on the edge of the Lake District, there are lots of beautiful areas to explore, including the quaint Lakeland village of Hawkshead, which is just 20 minutes drive away, whilst from the cottage itself you can step out and enjoy numerous paths and bridleways running through spectacular countryside.

For a fun-filled family day, why not pop over to the Haverthwaite and Lakeside Steam Railway, and embark on a steam train to Lakeside, before joining the Windermere Steamer for a cruise up the most famous lake in the district?

This charming cottage will make an excellent base for friends, families and couples seeking a character holiday home.
