Excellent cottage, tastefully prepared for a comfortable stay in a village which is an authentic lived-in environment.

Not at all twee, but of real architectural interest with some hidden gems, in a stunning setting.

Very clean and quiet cottage with well equipped kitchen and lovely patio!

Clean and comfortable cottage in a lovely area.

Had all the basics for a good stay. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the courtyard garden, though more comfortable outdoor chairs would be preferable. Aside from that, couldn't fault the cottage.

We had problems staying at this cottage which I reported to the owner and I have delayed this review for a week half expecting to here back from the owners , but I haven't .

The cottage is an end terrace house on the main road through St Bees , almost opposite a junction where the front door is inches away from the double yellow lines outside , there is no footpath , so entry is via the back door . This is via a narrow lane . It is possible just to drive into the lane and reverse into the parking space . getting out again is a nightmare unless the lady opposite has her gates open , but you can't rely on that . I actually damaged one of my wing mirrors. On arriving it was apparent that the outside sink was blocked as it was full of water and every time we emptied the kitchen sink it flowed down the yard . On entering the cottage felt cold and damp and we found black mould on the kitchen/passage door frame I couldn't get the heating to work till the next day when I discovered that the thermostat need new batteries. We also noticed that the sitting room curtain rail was snapped. I e-mailed the owner and reported these. During the next few days we discovered more mould along the kitchen skirting boards .And more alarming inside the seal of the freezer door which happened to be split with more mould inside it So what with the problems with the cottage , the parking and the damage to my car , we decided to come home early it became too stress full for us both..

A clever adaptation of an older property.

In a great location for rail and road connections (and the weather certainly helped!). Perhaps a little small for the advertised four adults?

The stay was disappointing.

There was a smell of damp throughout the house and actually things left in the living room were actually damp and we found on times it was warmer outside than in the house. The heating wouldn’t stay on and flicked off after around 15 mins of being turned on. Also it was clear to see pets had stayed there although an advertised as not pet friendly which left 2 of our party with dog allergies not enjoying being there. On top of that the hoover didn’t work so couldn’t even give it a good clean. On a positive note cleanliness aside from the pets was fine though and the beds were very comfortable.

Just returned from a weekend stay.

The sun came out and the beach was lovely. The only word of warning is the car space. I have a Volvo xc40. The short track is very narrow. I reversed in with great effort and needed my friend to guide me. Getting out was even harder we had to open the gates opposite otherwise I would still be there! The cottage was great, comfy bed and clean. Thanks

Lovely cottage, had everything we needed.

Short walk to the beach. Ideal location for driving to the Lakes. Had a lovely holiday.

The cottage had everything you need.

Bedding looked new and beds were very comfy. etc. Perfectly situated to walk to the beach and visit the northern lakes. Would recommend to anyone looking for a small cottage sleeping 4.

Wonderful, cosy little cottage.

Good base for the Lakes and other attractions. Really close Ennerdale water, which was our favourite lake. We have visited Aira Force, The Lake’s Distillery, The Lake District wild life park. It was nice to come back to our cosy cottage at the end of the day.

Though warned the parking is very tight for an average family car, It is very difficult to get out and requires reversing down a narrow curved lane onto main road.

We resorted to parking on main road and walking back to cottage. There was no teapot!! and though I don't always iron on holiday there was no iron either. Also toilet didn't always flush and had to lower ball cock to fill cistern Beds were very comfortable and oven easy to operate An outside table you could eat off would raise the facilities to a better standard as the back garden is a suntrap Had a great holiday, near fantastic scenery and weather very kind
