Valley View

There were various matters which required attention and perhaps meant that the property and experience were not up to the standards expected for booking such a large property through Sykes.

These were dealt with via separate correspondence with Jackie in Premium & MUS team and Julie the owner's property manager.

Absolutely brilliant time away at Valley View, fabulous house with so much room for everyone.

Will definitely return.

Valley view is a great place for a large group .

We were 24 people and not once did we feel that there was any in adequacy . Games room is nice and the kids and adults had a great time alike . We were not bothered about the TV so it was not a consideration . Local amenities , groceries were a 2 min drive or 10min walk . Cant ask for more

Wonderful place got every thing you need

great house for our trip, facilities are fantastic.

Only problem was the heating upstairs, however within a couple of hours we had portable heaters to sort the problem out. would recommend for any large family group, suits all age groups.

Overall it is a good property.

Although the garden is in need of care but as it was winter we didn’t need to use it. In the description it said you might need to check it is secure but in fact it is completely insecure to the car park and the road. The two large bedrooms without windows are a baffling configuration as obviously no one wants to be in them. The dining area is very good with enough chairs for everyone to eat comfortably. In the kitchen despite two dish washers it is difficult to manage with one sink for washing veg and washing up bigger dishes. I think it would be helpful to only have pans that work on the induction hob. We wasted time trying to use pans that didn’t function with the hob and creating extra washing up in the process. Also would be useful to have larger pans and serving dishes. The supply of plates, glasses and cutlery was very good. Julie and Leanne were good to deal with with problems. The plumber came to help with the heating but sadly one bedroom never heated up. The hob failing was slightly tricky cooking for so many but Leanne managed to come up with an alternative for our last night. Our duvet cover was so thin I had to go out and buy a blanket. Would have been good to have slightly higher quality and possibly above a 4 tog for December! Better instructions for the rubbish. We couldn’t understand why we were separating the rubbish in the kitchen only to put them altogether in the bin area. Surely there should be separate bins in the bin area to make the process easier for the waste removal company? Perhaps just explain it better? Overall a good property, apart from the windowless bedrooms it worked well for us. I hope the feedback is constructive.

We were a large family group and valley view was the perfect venue.

The Christmas trees provided were magnificent. We had the most wonderful time there.

The house and location were lovely.

The set up and the bedrooms were really nice and our group had a wonderful time. A couple of suggestions would be some basic supplies like tea bags, sugar, cooking oil etc. Also blinds or something for the downstairs living area windows would help with privacy and any noise concerns. We had a brilliant time tho and would like to thank you for having us.

Beautiful house in a great location to a village with some decent pubs . The house is spacious and clean . The games room Is an added bonus . Impressed with how quiet the downstairs bedrooms are. Would definitely recommend .

We had a great long weekend stay at Valley View.

The house is really lovely and decorated amazingly, there are so many rooms to relax and unwind in. We had a slight water issue on our second day, but we rang the owners and they sorted it within half an hour! We were so impressed with how efficient and approachable they were. Both the property owners and the Holiday Lets Coordinator were so helpful whenever we needed them. Valley View is the perfect place to chill with a large group of family or friends and is in a great area not far from shops and restaurants. We would definitely return to Valley View and highly recommend to anyone looking to book :)

The house looks as good as the photos which is a great start as you enter the hallway.

All the bedrooms and bathrooms were great with very comfy beds. The centre piece of the house is the kitchen which for a party of 16 was perfect. A few problems which took some gloss off, no hot water in the kitchen so we had to boil the kettle to do the washing up of which there was plenty. Also, only providing one tea towel in a house that size was extremely irritating, and they don't sell them in the Co-op! Overall, everyone loved it and I would highly recommend it for a work or family gathering.

The house itself was beautiful and spotlessly clean.

The only downside was that some of the rooms didn’t have hot water. Even though someone came to try and fix it, the issue wasn’t fully resolved, so a few of us had to share bathrooms despite most rooms having their own. On the positive side, the dining room was stunning — definitely the highlight of the house. As a family, we loved gathering there and spending time together.

Great place, clean and large suited our family needs.

Games room very disappointing for many of the family. Quality of pool table and tt table poor. No other board games to speak of.

When we arrived at the property the Fridge Freezer was not working properly.

We were celebrating a special birthday so as you can imagine we had lots of food including meat and a birthday cake to keep fresh for the following day. The first night was spent worrying about the food. We actually had to put the cake in the freezer as the freezer was normal fridge temperature and the fridge was a constant 21 degrees for some reason. We informed the owner who said they couldn’t get anyone there until the morning which was useless for us as the food would have been ruined and we were concerned about leaving food in the freezer overnight. My husband worked on it trying to reset it for most of the night and by around 1.30am it seemed to start working properly. We looked after the property well, we even cleaned it before we left and made sure there was no rubbish. 4 days after we left my mother noticed a debited payment on her card from Sykes for £299. Shocked, I messaged the owner who told me there was damage to a set of drawers. We still to this day have absolutely no idea what damage they were referring to and are still in discussions about it now. Avoid at all cost.

Valley View was an incredible place to stay!

The kitchen is a great place to host a dinner along with conservatory opening out onto the garden with hot tun as a great addition. There is also a games room which has pool and table tennis. All of the bedrooms are stunning mostly with en-suites. We stayed here for a 30th celebration and would 100% recommend this place to anyone!

The house is absolutely wonderful - perfectly sized and configured for a large party of friends who were reuniting from all over the country for a birthday party.

The conservatory was brilliant for us to have a sit down dinner to celebrate. All of the bedrooms were comfortable and well sized. Julie and Leanne were so helpful responding to queries. By the end of our stay all of our guests were asking if we could rebook again for next year!

We’ve just got back from Valley View House and it is an amazing house which caters for all ages , we went for my sons 30th birthday , from booking it and the contact with Julie the manager it was a very simple process , the house has 11 bedrooms which are so clean and very spacious, there’s a games room which the kids loved and 3 sitting areas a large dining area which seats everyone and a massive kitchen with everything in it , there’s lots of seating outside and a hottub , I would definitely recommend this house it is lovely , we are definitely going to go back , we was there 3 nights but could of stayed longer , we hired a private chef called Marcus who cooked for us on the Saturday night which was also amazing and I’d recommend him aswell .

Lovely place.

Very spacious. Allready to go when we got there. Area is beautiful. Lovely views but close to amenities and plenty to do. Lots of parking for large parties. Would recommend.

We have just had an amazing weekend at Valley View for my husbands 60th birthday Early check in and later checkout a bonus Met by Leanne and Phil who took us around explaining everything We have stayed before a few years ago It has been renovated to a high standard and extra bedrooms added All are clean and modern The new kitchen was the centre point Two of every appliance Three ovens which are ideal for large groups We hired a chef so definitely a bonus for that The space is extensive So many downstairs rooms where you could sneak off and chill reading or putting your feet up Grandkids and adults spent fun time in the hot tub which was undercover so despite being windy and cold was accessible Elderly parents had downstairs bedroom with bathroom and this was ideal due to mobility issues We spent time in the beautiful games room and had a ball playing ping pong and pool We made use of the logs left and made an open fire in the living room My only ask would maybe be some throws for the colder days to snuggle into Locality spot on short walk of 6 minutes to village with shops and pubs Cant beat this house I would highly recommend it to any large group of people of any age It has something for everyone

We all had a great time, the house was great.

Plenty of space for everybody, in fact we didn't even use the conservatory lounge area. A big coat rack in the entrance, would have been useful instead of us piling all our coats on a couple of chairs. We had 7 other houses around the country were considering, we did ask if we could come & look around. When you are spending almost £10,000, we didn't think that was unreasonable. But we were told no for security reasons?? . We have relatives in Liverpool, so we decided we would stay with them for a few days & visit the house. as we had done to other properties on our search. When we arrived the doors & windows were open, as the painters were working. Jordan asked if he could help, & we told him we wanted a look at the house. He was brilliant, showed us around told us you would have 2 christmas trees, the fire place with open fire. Where to eat down town & the shops. He sold it to us straight away. Our only worry was only one fridge, & when we turned up you had a second one , perfect. Thank you again

Valley View in Dallyon-in-Furness was one of the best stays we've had in Cumbria!

Even though we saw some negative reviews beforehand, we couldn’t find any real faults. If I had to be extra critical, maybe having some coffee powder or kitchen towels would’ve been nice, but everything else was perfect. The space is ideal for 24 people, with lots of room for the kids to run around. The kitchen and dining area were fantastic, and it truly felt like a home away from home. The number of bathrooms was great, and the hot tub was a standout! Plus, the property is well-built so sound doesn’t carry—another big bonus. Highly recommend for large groups looking for a comfortable, spacious retreat!

No oven gloves, no large pots, not enough storage in one of the ground floor bedrooms and one on of the upstairs bedrooms, grass not cut, but otherwise fabulous.

This property has huge potential and overall as we made do with what we had we were happy with our stay.

However unfortunately there were a number of issues which aren’t really acceptable in a stay of this size. 1. Firstly the cooker was out of action. We were given small electric conductors which kept cutting out and simply didn’t provide enough heat for the large pots we were trying to cook in (25+ people). The camping gas conductors were an improvement but the 4 gas canisters finished in no time. The engineer was unable to fix the cooker even though we were told it would be fixed on the third day. 2. The boiler was not working on arrival. The downstairs and 2 bathrooms upstairs did not have hot water. People shared bathrooms in the first night but this was inconvenient. 3. After the plumber came to fix the boiler we still had no use of the thermostat to put the heating on. It was cold for August with a storm most evenings. Despite being told the electrician would come we heard nothing for the rest of the stay. 4. Unfortunately certain parts of the house were not properly cleaned on arrival I.e downstairs bathrooms. 5. The conservatory room started leaking on our final night. Albeit there was a pretty bad storm but it did leave a large puddle in the morning. 6. The shower pressure in most bathrooms was poor and also the bathtub in many didn’t drain quick enough. 7. There wasn’t enough toilet roll for the number of bathrooms/guests. These were the main issues. In reality we think we should be compensated c.10% of our costs for these problems.

Valley View is one half of a converted hotel in the middle of the unpretentious town of Dalton, just 5 minutes drive from the stunning Cumbrian coast.

It is incredibly spacious and whilst some of bedroom furniture and general woodwork could do with updating, the decor is generally in keeping with a grand old hotel. Highlights include a fabulous games room, multiple lounges and an enclosed garden. The large kitchen could really do with a second fridge and a new cooker hob. Yes, there were some issues which are to be expected with a property of this size and age - the conservatory roof leaked and the power tripped on a couple of occasions - but the maintenance team dealt with each of our calls within the hour. At over £8k for a week in August, I think the price point was a little high, compared to similar properties I have stayed in. But overall, Valley View is a wonderful property for a large, multi-generational gathering within a short drive of a stunning National Trust beach and also close to the Lakes.

Valley View is a lovely place, it has the potential to be great.

The house was a great place for our large family get away. It could do with some upgrading. The furniture was a bit grubby with a lot of marks a stains on the sofas and chairs. The kitchen area is lovely and very modern, we had to phone the out of hours service to find the cutlery as it is hidden in a secret draw, within a draw. The hot tub is a lovely touch however the few family members who used it, only stayed in for 5 minutes as they said the water was smelly and felt a bit grubby, they had to get out and shower. Overall we had a lovely stay, but it just feels like a bit of TLC is needed especially given the price we paid.

We had a fantastic weekend, the house was exactly what we were looking for and did not disappoint.

It was extremely spacious and catered for all needs. We particularly enjoyed the games room and hot tub. It was lovely to be able to eat together at the spacious table overlooking the beautiful garden. The only thing that could be added is another fridge as the one provided wasn’t really big enough for the amount of people we had.

Hi, we had a lovely time at Valley View for a 70th and 30th birthday break.

There was 22 of us and the house was great for such a large amount of people.. A couple of minor issues but did not spoil the holiday. A small leak in a glass pane in the dining room areas which was noticed as we had rain on Saturday, we had no hot water for a period of time but contacted the number given and they returned the call promptly and told us how to rectify the problem. The house was very clean and amenities excellent, only down fall was some of the beds were a bit uncomfortable. On the whole though would go back again and we had a great weekend.

Overall the house was good.

The downstairs communal areas were excellent and easily accommodated our extended family of 24. The kitchen, dining, cosy lounge and games room were in constant use and felt very comfortable. The single large fridge we found to be in adequate for our group and in the Summer we're sure it would certainly not cope with drinks and food. The showers were pretty useless and believe there was only one that was ok out of the 7 on offer.

We spent the weekend here to celebrate my Wife's 50th birthday with her family and friends.

overall our experience was satisfactory and the house games room and large kitchen were the highlights. We found the various hot water systems a little confusing to be honest and there were issues with running hot water in all rooms consistently so we had to share bathrooms to allow people to shower which was not ideal The heating systems didn't seem to work consistently either with the right side of the house feeling cold (games room side) even though the hive thermostat indicated the heating was working We used all the fire logs we bought and ended up purchasing more from Booths to keep warm We also had issues with the lighting (games room area) and electric showers with a call out required for some mains breaker switches to be reset by the emergency weekend support team

We had high expectations of the property from the pictures on the listing.

Upon arrival however even our lofty expectations were exceeded; the place is spectacular. Valley View is a massive property, and the facilities are fantastic. The hot tub is massive and modern and fit for a large party. The beds are all large, clean and brand new, the dining facilities were just brilliant, and we had a fantastic meals across the large dining area. The kitchen itself was also tremendous. It was myself who arranged our trip, but every person from our large party personally congratulated me on my choice of housing for our trip. Everyone was blown away with the place. We will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you to all the staff who had the place looking pristine upon our arrival, we had a very memorable weekend

This property is truly amazing!

I spent time there for my 70th birthday with 18 members of my family. It was so spacious we could all get together in one very large and comfy lounge and their were several other lounges and a games room for when we wanted to sit in smaller groups. My 3 year old grandson had the time of his life roaming around and playing in all of the rooms. The dining facilities were fantastic and we could all dine together very comfortably. The gardens were beautiful and the younger members of the family had a great time using the immaculately clean hot tub even though it was October and the weather was cold. Everyone who worked at the house or for Sykes were so welcoming and friendly to deal with. We just loved the house and were sad to leave it.

This property has not been described correctly.

It has NOT been fully refurbished and is not secure to the standard that we expected. There was rubble, paint tins, weeds and dog mess in areas of the garden when we arrived. The property and grounds are not secure and we had people looking in the windows, walking in the garden and even entering the hall to enquire if it was a café! The kitchen tap fell apart, a shower was not working at all and others were too hot and couldn't be adjusted. The curtains in one bedroom were tied up with string, headboard broken and sticky mess on carpet. The conservatory roof leaked and the windows painted shut. Other windows elsewhere were nailed shut. A small piece of plaster moulding on the ceiling fell down. A Door handle fell off in one bedroom door trapping people inside and the external door handle to the kitchen was missing. There has been some refurbishment such as to the kitchen, some of the bathrooms and some bedrooms but the property is still in need of a general overall.

Very bad experience .

Perfect size property. We feel like we are in the building side because of the work that is unfinished. Disturbing nouse from the building work /on Sunday / around the property . No privacy at all. The main view is the rubbish from the building work all around the property . Inside had newly installed kitchen. But the rest of it was very old fealty or new but unfinished. Bedroom with no windows it is ok but you should have some sort of ventilation to provide air in the room, or shared bathroom with no locks

We had a wonderful stay at valley view with family and friends and would definitely recommend.

The family area was huge and ideal for family gatherings. It would have been nice if there was some basic refreshments and condiments such as tea, coffee salt and pepper available to us. We encountered a few maintenance issues during our stay including a lack of hot water to some rooms and the hot tub only working on one side. We were subsequently advised that these issues were resolved after we had left.

There was no lock in any room As well as common bath room no lock Some room hot water was missing

We had a wonderful stay celebrating a 50th birthday party.

Valley View is a lovely place for a family gathering. The place was immaculate, large and spacious. It has be renovated just recently. All beds were extremely comfortable and looked to have brand new bedding. The kitchen is also brand new and is so big you will have trouble finding things because there is so much storage but it is all there! There are many things to do inside and places to visit just a short car ride away. The hot tub will be cold when you arrive as the water is changed for each new client. But the next morning it will be piping hot. The property has large gardens perfect for outdoor fun if you get the weather. There are 2 pubs, a Chinese take away and the Co-Op are all just a 5 minute walk away. We had a fantastic time in Valley View and would recommend it for any large gathering of people.

We booked Valley View House for my wife’s 70th birthday and what a brilliant stay we enjoyed.

The house is very well presented and warm as toast as we arrived. The property manager was so very helpful and ensured our stay went smoothly. All our guests enjoyed a fabulous stay. We held a Murder Mystery weekend - what a brilliant house to host such an event. Everyone went away rested and fulfilled, our happy time here will be fondly remembered forever - thank you Valley View House

Lots of character in this huge holiday home. Plenty room for everyone. Stayed here for my daughter’s 21st celebration and it was perfect. Games room went down a treat. Huge dining area connected to the kitchen doubled up as party central. Just a stroll to a great choice of pubs / restaurants. Great setting for a get together.
