William Tower Suite Stone Cross Mansion

Our third time visiting this site (though a different apartment) and it was as excellent as it always is.

Stayed at Stone Cross twice now.

The location is excellent. Building and rooms are superb. Great garden games for all ages. Nice short walk into town or down the drive to supermarkets or coffee shops. Easy drive to Windermere or beyond. Highly recommended

William, the Tower is a wonderful apartment and the views from the rooftop spectacular.

Kevin is a great ambassador for the Mansion and solved a couple of tiny issues for us with a smile and humour. Thank you - we will be back!

High class and quirky accommodation in a fabulous building.

Everything provided and of very good quality - in short a perfect place to stay, with Ulverston just a short walk away. A minor niggle was the difficulty in opening the sash windows in the very hot weather, but the maintenance guy fixed the problem very quickly. However, they only opened a few inches (H&S presumably).so still very hot despite the fans provided. Also the duvet provided was rather winter-weight and could perhaps have been swopped for a lighter one at this time of year. The Tower is a fascinating feature with great views but quite a few stairs to get there, and rather awkward to take a meal up there, although it can be done with a little forward planning! Overall a wonderful stay in a wonderful place and would certainly come again.

We had a lovely stay in this part of the world and in this beautiful holiday apartment.

It was very easy to find, spotlessly clean and as advertised. Everything that we required was available with the addition of our very own tower to sit in the sun. Very handy for walking directly into Ulverston to take advantage of the eateries, museum and cinema and also within a short walk to shops to replenish groceries. Our only very small improvement would be to provide mugs so that you can have a lovely, large cup of tea! Also whilst fans were provided it was quite warm and we struggled to open the windows in the bedroom. But this did not detract from our enjoyment.

The accommodation was excellent - as it was the last time we stayed at the premises (but not the same appartment).

I think the only way the William Suite could have been improved for us is by installing a tv in the dinning room.

Beautiful accommodation, just what I like.

Very quiet but close to all amenities. The bed was extremely comfortable and I would like to know what mattress they had as I would like one at home. Hope to stay again in the near future.

Wow what a place!

This was our first stay here and won’t be our last, it is amazing.Spotlessly clean, very well equipped, great to have Tea & Coffee provided. And also good quality toiletries .great location just a short walk into town. The views from the tower are wonderful.And when you walk the back way to Hoad Hill you can spot the tower in the trees. It was lovely taking a cuppa up to the tower, not so easy with food ( pity it doesn’t have a dumb waiter ) View was worth it though Although if you have dodgy knees maybe not the apartment for you. Will try another apartment next time, they all look fantastic. Just a couple of things would help- A few more coat hooks in hall, and was surprised the toaster was only a two slice one. Can’t wait to book again .

Why stay anywhere else in the South Lakes?

Each time I book a rental here, the management have added even more facilities, the apartments are first rate, so many little touches from the free sweets as you enter the communal area, to the luxury toiletries, to the large grounds with putting green, etc. Pay your money and enjoy living as living could and should be like. Short walk into Ulverston, take the short cut, 5 mins, and enjoy some superb eateries and pubs, Farmers ands the Tapas restaurant spring to mind, climb up to the Monument, what a view. It is a fantastic place to stay, Five star all the way. Well done to all concerned with this gem, see you August 2026.

Great place to get away and discover the southern lakes. Alison was super helpful with everything we needed to ask. An absolute pleasure as always.

Absolutely amazing place to stay.

The place was clean, tidy and very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable. Loved the little extras that were provided such and tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and sweets. As well as cleaning essential. Only thing that was missing was an oven glove but we just used a tea towel instead. Amazing views, games cupboard on site and so much more.

This was our second stay at Stone Cross and we absolutely love it.

The apartment was amazing and we loved the roof terrace and views over the surrounding countryside. The facilities in the apartments are great and the attention to detail makes it a real treat to visit, we will definitely be back!

Stone cross mansion is a beautiful place to stay ,great building inside and out.

..there's a office so if you need anything or have any problems during your stay they are very happy to help and accommodate, great customer service... The apartment itself was exceptionally clean and very well done out, couldn't complain about a thing..my second time this year staying and will be staying later on this year can't wait.

Superbly appointed apartment in a gorgeous house, situated in beautiful grounds.

The location is fantastic as it felt private and quiet, whilst having access to great facilities (M&S Aldi moments away) Easy access to Lake District attractions. All round excellent experience and incredibly relaxing stay.

Absolutely stunning apartment in a great location.

Loads of space with everything a family could want, a separate upstairs lounge with a large TV for family movie nights and a small hideaway next to it for smaller kids to enjoy. The terrace is a great touch with wonderful views all round. Kitchen/diner well equipped, with space for those that want peace and quiet away from a TV. Kids loved the outdoor activities and equipment that was provided. Great showers in the bathrooms, powerful and no temperature fluctuations when used. Ulverston town is a mere 10 minutes walk away and for those that are more active the monument is a 40 minute trek away. Most of the southern lakes are accessible by car, Ambleside an hour's drive or a wonderful train and boat journey from Haverthwaite. Will definitely like to book again in the future.

We loved the apartment and were blown away by the quality of fittings and furnishings. The observatory (on our one clear night) was amazing, we imagine it is superb in the warmer clearer months. The mansion is beautiful, the hall breathtaking and we all enjoyed playing pool and table football. We hope to return again in the future.

The property is amazing and the quality of the fixtures and fittings second to none!

We loved it, so well equipped and in a beautiful location. We do however have some feedback on the ladybird infestation. We hoovered them up every day but our only concern was if the plug in insect repellants were safe with the baby. We googled it and they are but maybe mention before people arrive? And the mattresses are very soft but that’s just personal preference. This is still one of the best places we have ever stayed and we will be back!

Had a lovely relaxing week, the apartment was out of this world, would highly recommend, the mattress on the super king bed was absolutely gorgeous, great location, just a short stroll through the back gate of the grounds and your in ulverston.

Big thank you to Mike and April for making the stay warm and welcoming, Christmas decorations were lush. We will be back, beautiful.

We stayed at Stone Cross Mansion for seven nights.

Children loved it for their activities both in door and outdoor. It’s very well maintained and managed property with highly rich history, located at the prime area of Ulverstone. We loved it and would recommend without any hesitation.

An amazing apartment and a very comfortable and quiet stay.

Just the relaxing experience we needed.

As soon as we pulled up we were impressed by the outside and grounds.

On entering the William Suite we were excited to discover the exceptional standards of all aspects of the apartment. We especially enjoyed the decked area where I was able to photograph the northern lights. The bed was one of the most comfortable we have encountered and we have visited many places fir comparison. We are not normally keen to revisit places we have already stayed but we think this may be the exception to that rule!

The Stone Cross Mansion building is impressive and exceptionally well renovated.

The flat itself was also nicely presented and the view from the roof terrace is stunning. There were a couple of small problems when we arrived - a bed not made up as a double as requested and a mess left in the oven by previous occupants. Both these were dealt with quickly and courteously. The flat was clean and had most things necessary for our stay, but there were some problems. Although the bed was comfortable there was a continuous humming noise from the boiler cupboard which I found disturbing at night. The coffee maker didn’t work and I suspect the capsules that were left were not the correct size for the machine. The sash windows were very stiff and it was a struggle to open and close them. The biggest problem we had was complete lack of Wi-Fi signal in the lounge. The television didn’t pick up any signal, so we were unable to access anything except real time terrestrial programmes and there was very little to watch. No Freeview, so no i player or itv hub; no Netflix, no Amazon Prime. We brought the problem to the attention of the owners during our stay but no solution was found. This really needs to be addressed. The flats are not cheaply priced and finding that the facilities that are advertised are not in fact available is disappointing. On balance I would say that if you are fit and strong enough to deal with the windows and keen to transport food up two flights of steep stairs to the dining table on the roof terrace, then this flat is for you. But if you want to sit and watch television in the evenings then it probably isn’t. I wouldn’t book this particular flat again, but I might consider one in the same building if the problem with the Wi-Fi is resolved.

Stone Cross is absolutely spectacular.

The renovation is remarkable and sensitive. The design inspiration is perfection and as a result the spaces perfectly reflect the ambience of the historic building whilst incorporating every modern feature. You cannot fail to be impressed, as I am, with the luxe vibe and thoughtfulness of the accommodation. The William Suite is truly unique and we enjoyed spending time on our turret-top roof garden with spectacular views.

We’ve just come back from our 1week stay in Cumbria.

Our first impression of the Stone Cross Mansion building itself was really impressive. The apartment did not disappoint either. It was well maintained, very clean and the terrace was an amazing bonus. My youngest loved going up there and gazing up at the sky and just embracing the beauty of the place. The apartment had been arrange with family in mind- very well thought of. There’s a small game room for the kids with toys available to use. The place is very close to the shops and major tourist attractions. We would highly recommend this place. It’s a week long break well spent.
