“There is nothing wrong with the cottage itself.”

It is very spacious, there is a beautiful kitchen with everything you need, and the bathroom is spacious. A wide range of DVDs was really nice. The cottage is beautifully situated in the fields where you can see deer walking from the couch in the evening light. but the road to get there had very deep holes that our car (Volvo V90) hit the ground several times. The cottage is beautifully situated in the fields where you can see deer walking from the couch in the evening light. but the road to get there had very deep holes that our car (Volvo V90) hit the ground several times. These holes could have easily been filled with a few wheelbarrows of gravel. The path to the laundry room was a jungle of nettles and brambles, the dryer did not dry. Then there was no one to receive us, the key was just in the door. There was someone living in a house next to our accommodation. This woman did not even say hello to us and seemed to run away every time we saw her. It made us feel unwelcome. the yard and the area around the building were an unnecessary mess, the whole thing gave a deserted look.

The property

'Jane's Cottage' makes a beautiful getaway for two in the heart of the countryside. On a working farm you can get a true feel of being part of the farming community. The farm is part of environmental stewardship schemes and prioritises nurturing local wildlife alongside its farming activities. There are plenty of walks from the door, Hawkshead village is only a mile away, where you will find boutique shops, bars and at Far Sawrey, Hill Top, once home to Beatrix Potter. Accommodation: Enter through the courtyard, onto the patio with garden furniture and through the front door into the property. The kitchen is on the right with a breakfast bar, the open plan living is great for the two of you to relax and unwind. Keep warm by dining next to the esse log burner, with the comfy seating and Apple TV. Enjoy the beautiful views from the lounge over the front garden and to the rolling fells beyond. The bathroom is off the lounge at the bottom of the wooden open plan stairs which take you up to the mezzanine bedroom in the cedars of the loft. The bathroom is home to a Japanese deep-set bath (not advised for the physically challenged) with two seats and a wet room shower on a mosaic floor with wc and basin. Outside: Janes Cottage is set on a working farm with sheep and horses. The property over looks the courtyard where these can be regularly seen. Outdoor furniture is provided on the upper patio. Parking to the front of the property. Bike storage is available. Please note that due to access a 4x4 vehicle is recommended.

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
