“Lingmoor View turned out to be a real gem of a cottage.”
Honestly, our first impressions on arriving outside weren't great, as the building didn't look all that strong structurally and we were a little worried about security for our valuables, especially as the main access is hidden from view and unlit. But that was our only real concern.

The cottage itself was exceptionally well equipped, with everything we needed. We cooked everyday and found nothing lacking in the kitchen; plentiful crockery was available, which meant being able to fill up the dishwasher instead of having to continually wash up cups and mugs. The rooms were cosy and warm, a welcome respite from the very wet weather outside! Hot water was plentiful for showers and the odd bath. There were loads of usefully-placed power points - no need for the extension leads we brought with us!
The view of the Langdale Pikes from the garden was stunning, though sadly the weather was not on our side when it came to sitting outside. A lovely touch though were the bird-feeders. Having seen a previous comment about them, we brought some bird seed and nuts with us and were rewarded with beautiful songbirds every day - and on the last 3 mornings, a red squirrel!
Though not a problem for us, the steep access road to the cottage could potentially be a really problem in wintry conditions. And although leaving a car at the bottom may be a viable option for some, unloading lots of gear and carting it up the hill by hand would be too much for most people.
Would I book this cottage again? Yes, definitely - but not in the winter months.
