“Very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage in a stunning location.”

Rather disappointed to find no toilet roll at all when we arrived after a 3hour journey. Requireing an urgent dash to nearest shop!!

Spectacular Lakeland fells surround this lush valley; scattered with historic Lakeland houses and pretty woodlands, and blessed with the Mortal Man in Troutbeck village renowned for their excellent food, Cumbrian produce and cosy fireside ambience. Perfect for a special occasion. There are endless opportunities for romantic Lake District walks from your doorstep. Taking the car over Kirkstone Pass towards Ullswater, you'll pass Brothers Water - one of our favourite spots for a leisurely Sunday stroll. About the location

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.

Please note: Logs aren't provided for the wood burner, supplies are located at The Old Post Office Village Tea Room Troutbeck approx 200yds or Troutbeck Petrol Station approx 2 miles from the cottage.
We are happy to accept a well behaved pet, however if any damage is caused there may be additional cleaning charges which will be taken from the good housekeeping bond
