  • “Having stayed at Boxwood Cottage several times, it never fails to satisfy.”

Despite the variable weather that we expect in February, Boxwood and the surrounding areas provide a relaxing space to enjoy a break. The cottage is beautifully maintained and has everything needed for a home from home experience. We really like the change in the main bedroom and we felt warm and comfortable from the moment we arrived. Thank you.

The cottage offers a spacious and social living area and offers a great space to spend time with friends.

The living area affords a breath taking view across the Troutbeck Valley to Applethwaite Common and the eastern fells.

The matching bedrooms, with vaulted ceilings provide a cosy and comfortable retreat at the end of the day.

A private parking space is adjacent to the pretty garden area with patio furniture and stunning views across the valley is available just a minutes' walk from the front door.

The garden is positioned so you can enjoy the ever-changing picture postcard view no matter what time of day or time of year.

On entering the cottage you are greeted by the large open plan living space with oak floors throughout.

The kitchen is well equipped and offers all you may need.

A romantic cottage in the Troutbeck Valley provides a Lake District holiday experience like no other.

Still only a short drive from shops and restaurants in Windermere village, Lake Windermere itself and the vibrant lake shore communities of Bowness and Ambleside, the Troutbeck Valley is a peaceful haven away from the rush.

Spectacular Lakeland fells surround this lush valley; scattered with historic Lakeland houses and pretty woodlands, and blessed with the Mortal Man and The Queens Head in Troutbeck village renowned for their excellent food, Cumbrian produce and cosy fireside ambience.

Perfect for a special occasion.

There are endless opportunities for romantic Lake District walks from your doorstep.

Taking the car over Kirkstone Pass towards Ullswater, you'll pass Brothers Water - one of our favourite spots for a leisurely Sunday stroll.

For exploring further afield, despite the blissfully secluded feel of the Troutbeck Valley, you're never too far from the main linking roads throughout the Lake District.

A water mist fire suppression system has been installed at Boxwood Cottage.

The system complies with BS standards. Certain individuals may face higher risks during a fire emergency due to factors such as age, mobility, or health conditions.

These include young children, elderly guests, and those with reduced mobility, who may struggle to respond quickly in an emergency. While guests with physical or mental limitations are welcome to stay at the property, features such as stairs or narrow access points may limit wheelchair accessibility.

It is important to note that no wheelchair access adjustments have been made.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.

About the location

TROUTBECK

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
