A lovely property in a beautiful location wonderful views from the large picture window ideal place for the two of us to relax and escape for a few days over the new year.

Highly recommend this property for any couple. Nice complementary gifts left by the owner would certainly return to this property in the future.

Silver Howe is a beautiful apartment, it was scrupulously clean, well equipped with everything you could possibly need and so comfortable.

The view from the huge picture window is incredible. We particularly appreciated the little touches such as night lights, enough cutlery and crockery to be able to make use of the dishwasher and two tea towels! We've stayed in many self catering places and this is up there with the best. Highly recommended.

Silver Howe is an excellent peaceful, clean, modern, comfortable and well equipped apartment ideally situated in the hillside just above Wordsworth's famous Dove Cottage in the lovely village of Grasmere.

It is an ideal spot for walks in the area with no need for a car; Grasmere village centre with shops cafes and a well stocked Co-op is a short walk away. The bus service from Kendal through to Keswick via Grasmere is very good with a stop just down the hill from the apartment. The apartment is well stocked with guide books and OS maps; there everything you could need in the kitchen; the large walk-in shower is really good and the bed is comfortable. The nice lounge/diner has a lovely view of Lake Grasmere and the surrounding hillside.

Absolutely gorgeous property, extremely comfortable & very well equipped, & what a view from the picture window, simply stunning!

Enjoyed sitting on the terrace overlooking the fabulous gardens & watching all the different varieties of birds on the feeders, this time we weren’t lucky enough to see a red squirrel or a deer but would come back here in a heartbeat, so hopefully next time

Lovely warm cosy place to stay.

We were lucky with the weather and didn't move our car all week...loads of walks from the doorstep. We enjoyed watching the wildlife in the garden and no doubt the patio looking over the lake would be a great place to sit and enjoy the views in the summer. Anne was in touch as soon as we arrived, but we didn't need any assistance. We'd certainly recommend Silver Howe.

The cottage had everything we needed. The under floor heating was lovely and the shower was excellent as well. We really enjoyed our stay and would go back again, thank you Anne

Another lovely stay.

The appartment is clean and comfortable, really well equipped in the kitchen and we love the view. Heating is a bit complicated to change but once you've worked it out it's fine. No red squirrels but deer seen in the garden. Good walks and runs from the door and only used the car once during our stay. Arrived a day late due to the storm. Booking agency failed to let owner know which was a bit annoying, but other than that everything worked well.

I really enjoyed my visit to the Lake District.

The apartment was spotless and it really does feel like home from home. I loved the views from the living room and the welcome brownie and milk was a lovely touch. Anne messaged me to make sure I had settled in okay. The shower was great and the bed was lovely. I loved everything about the apartment and was sad to be leaving. There are so many walks you can do from the apartment meaning you do not need to use the car. There are 2 walks from the garden, just go through the gate .The information booklet was a great help, along with walking maps. Grasmere village is a 10 minute walk with shops, cafes and bars. There are also good transport links to Keswick and Windermere. I cannot wait to book again. Thank you Anne for the perfect apartment and I had the perfect week.

The flat is clean, comfortable and beautifully presented. The views from the sitting room are stunning. We watched for red squirrels every day, but didn't see any. Great walks from the front door and Grasmere never looses its charm. We tried to book for next year , but you are fully booked. So will be staying elsewhere for our next Grasmere holiday. Hoping to come back in 2026. Thank you for letting us stay .

Everything felt new and fresh, very comfortable and relaxing. Lots of good walking straight out of the garden gate.

This was a lovely apartment.

Great kitchen with all amenities, super shower room, great bed, lovely linen, good tv reception and a lovely view. Our host Anne was very accommodating and keen to make sure everything was to our liking on first arriving. The location is lovely and peaceful being a 1/2+ mile walk from Grasmere. A previous review mentioned the upward climb to the cottage - but this is the Lake District!

The property was clean, well equipped and had a great view from the picture window.

It is centrally located for the lakes. It was quite cold inside in the evening despite being summer but the heating was switched off. However, a plug in heater was provided which was really appreciated. The only problem we encountered was the location in respect of exactly how steep the walk up from Dove Cottage to the property was. Unless you are really fit and able bodied, it makes walking to and from Grasmere village prohibitive. I feel the property description does not highlight this fact enough. It's not suitable for the less fit or elderly. Perfect for the fit and active and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would not return due to the property positioning.

The place was very comfortable and well equipped. The only things we did have a little grumble about was the lack of control with the heating. The radiators seemed to be controlled by an ap, which we didn’t have access to, although a panal heater was supplied. We only used this once or twice as the weather warmed up a bit. And we weren’t really able to use the smart TV as the internet signal was not strong enough to maintain streaming or even use tablets at times. Apart from these two minor things we enjoyed a fabulous holiday and would definitely return here. Many thanks xx

Silver Howe was an absolute gem of a flat right in the heart of some amazing walks.

It was a pleasure to be able to live there for the week and I hope I’ll return.

Great place to stay.

Very clean and comfortable and nice to see basics like tea, coffee, sugar etc already there. Have stayed there before and hope to stay there again.

The property is in the most stunning location, with lovely views of the lake.

The flat is well stocked with everything you would need during a stay, it is warm , comfortable and beautifully presented . It was so nice to park the car and just be able to walk from the flat to whete we wanted to go. We had the most amazing weeks stay and are hoping to come back next year. Thank you

Great apartment, welcoming and well maintained

We really enjoyed our first holiday in Silver Howe.

The accommodation is superb and the view of Grasmere Lake and beyond interrupted our reading time after time. The kitchen is very well equipped and we would have taken the bed and shower home with us if we could! The location is perfect for exploring the local area and beyond. Our bus passes were used time after time as we visited Windermere, Hawkshead and Keswick. Our walk around Grasmere Lake was a highlight. Quite beautiful. Thank you Anne - we hope you will allow us a return visit before too long.

Perfect apartment for a short birthday break.

Really well equipped and comfortable. Great location and view of Grasmere. No need to use the car if you like walking. Walked from the door up Fairfield via Alcock Tarn on a perfect sunny day. Also on the route of my favourite run along the lakes and back along the coffin route. Lesser spotted woodpecker seen in the garden. We hope to return!

This is a lovely property with all the comforts of home and more.

It was perfect for the two of us.

An excellent property, warm, cosy and well equipped with private parking space.

The walk from Grasmere Village is uphill so guests should be prepared for that especially if you’ve just done a long hike on the fells. The Coffin Route walk accessed from the gate in the garden located to the right above the terrace is a lovely walk and Rydal Hall at the Ambleside end has cafe with the best Hot Chocolate. Just a couple of things: the lights over the table don’t work and the shower head holder is loose, (not holding the head up).

Silver Howe was very comfortable and clean with everything you could need.

There are many walks close by and a short downhill walk to the village of Grasmere

This is a gorgeous apartment, set in glorious private grounds.

It is furnished and finished to an incredible high standard, but at the same time still feels comfortable and homely. There is lots of great walking from the door. The only negative for me was the rambling 10 steps from the parking to the apartment as I have mobility problems.

Would have been really lovely to have had welcome pack of tea,coffee, milk etc

An amazing place to stay!

Extremely comfortable with quality fixtures and fittings. Fantastic view from the main living room window. Excellent location with walks from the door and walk into Grasmere. Wi-Fi heating issue resolved quickly with the owner. Our preference would be to control this for ourselves. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to a return trip. A true home with all the finishing touches we look forward to having on our holiday.

The location was so tranquil and restful and only a short walk to facilities in the town. I would definitely recommend this property to my family and friends.

More spacious than I expected. Good location for walking. Hope to return.

The shower did not have a non slip floor and although we are fairly fit for our ages we didn’t feel safe so bought a non slip mat to put in there.

Also it was quite chilly in the mornings and as the heating was operated by Wi fi, we did not know how to put it on. Otherwise lovely apartment with wonderful view and able to watch the birds and red squirrels from the window.

We have stayed here 3 times now over the last 3 year and we absolutely love this place!

Such a nice location, a beautiful decorated flat and very clean. We will definitely be booking again. The only slight small feedback I would give on this occasion would be, if it is possible, having an electric fan available in the flat would be amazing (we stayed on a very very warm weather week). All round a wonderful stay.
