“Great stay, its our 3rd time , the position and view keep pulling us back.”

There are plenty of walks and the old post-office is a nice stop off for tea and cake with the mortal man for food and drinks.

The picturesque conservation village, Troutbeck is renowned for its numerous listed buildings and vernacular architecture and there is a strong and vibrant community with a village shop, visiting post office service, an excellent pub serving hearty meals and local ales as well as a church and never too far from the stunning shores of Lake Windermere, perfect! == Accommodation in detail Park your vehicle right outside and if you have two, there is additional parking nearby. Instantly catch your breath, gazing at that view and enter via a useful entrance porch, ideal for walking clobber. A slate entrance into the stunning open plan living space, flooded with light and gazing at the panoramic view over the valley to surrounding mountains. Still only a short drive from shops and restaurants in Windermere village, Lake Windermere itself and the vibrant lake shore communities of Bowness and Ambleside, the Troutbeck Valley is a peaceful haven away from the rush. Spectacular Lakeland fells surround this lush valley; scattered with historic Lakeland houses and pretty woodlands, and blessed with the Mortal Man in Troutbeck village, renowned for their excellent food, Cumbrian produce and cosy fireside ambience. There are endless opportunities for romantic Lake District walks from your doorstep. Taking the car over Kirkstone Pass towards Ullswater, you'll pass Brotherswater - one of our favourite spots for a leisurely Sunday stroll. About the location

Windermere 3 miles; Ambleside 4 miles.

The small Lakeland village of Troutbeck can be found between its more famous neighbours Windermere and Ambleside, close by the Kirkstone Pass. A mixture of houses, cottages and farms, the village is scattered along a narrow lane bordered by a drystone wall. Many of these buildings date back to the 17th Century with features such as mullioned windows and heavy cylindrical chimneys and the northern end boasts its own 17th century inn. Close by, the bustling towns of Windermere and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including the lakeside ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The ‘Windermere Steamboat Museum’ displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the ‘World of Beatrix Potter’ in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. Within easy reach of destinations such as Coniston Water, Kendal, Keswick and the Lakeland Mountains, Troutbeck is ideally situated for exploring all that the region has to offer.
