Coniston Number 9

Coniston Number 9 was a hidden gem.

A gorgeous, spacious cabin tucked into woodland just a stone’s throw from the shores of Windermere. Being double‑width, it feels far larger than a standard static - no narrow corridors, and a lovely open‑plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. The main bedroom is generously sized with an ensuite, and the second and third bedrooms are perfectly adequate. Everything was ready for us on arrival, with complimentary tea, coffee, milk, and even washing‑up liquid and dishwasher tablets. The cabin was immaculate throughout. Our only minor criticisms: the decking had quite a bit of bird mess from the overhanging trees. I swept it, but some had got onto the outdoor chairs and table, so we couldn’t use them. We visited in mid‑May after changeable weather, so it was right at the start of the season for sitting outside - as such I expect this would probably normally be taken care of. We also found that the Henry vacuum couldn’t be used because the hose connector was broken. And finally, the visitor pack mentioned free EV charging via a connection point outside the door, but it was padlocked, and a sign inside said that connection an EV to the property was prohibited - so the information pack may just need updating. These were all very minor issues and certainly wouldn’t put us off returning in the future.

The property was first class accommodation and the overall stay was very enjoyable.

The only thing preventing it from being perfect was that it rained on two nights and the noise from the water falling off the trees onto the cabins roof was loud and did not allow a good nights sleep. Not sure how this is fixable.

We had a great week in Coniston 9.

It is ideally located a short drive from Bowness, Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere making it an ideal base to explore some of the main towns in the lakes. The accommodation is roomy and well laid out, with everything you should need for a short break. Everything was clean and tidy with plenty of storage space and a generous bathroom and en-suite. The beds were comfy and a small welcome pack with milk, coffee, teabags, tea towel etc. is always welcome. The site has a small shop, bar and other amenities but probably the only criticism is that the lodges are packed in, so if you like a bit of remoteness or privacy then this site maybe isn’t for you, however we couldn’t fault the lodge itself as it was great.

The only drawback was use of holiday park amenities. As we booked through sykes and not parkdean we would only be allowed to swimming pool if there were any spare places and only 2 slots a day.

Brilliant site, very clean comfortable and well kept lodge, in a nice position, had a great stay, one thing that let it down was the balcony hand not been cleaned, it was covered in broken branches, bird muck and bits of toilet paper, had to sweep it off myself

Overall is satisify.

However, the dishes, oven and cooking utilities were not clean. We need to wash it once before use.

The property was great, lovely location, clean and tidy.

There was something that was damaged, but the owner made it clear in messages that he’d asked for it to be fixed the week before, it wasn’t a problem, Would go back.

Absolutely brilliant lodge set in beautiful surroundings nothing to criticise.

Would definitely consider going back. The stay was made more memorable with the snow on the second day.

Lovely stay really enjoyed the lodge and site and would recommend to anybody families especially!

Beautiful lodge spotlessly clean, lovely clean bed linen & towels.

Well stocked kitchen if dining in. Lodge very comfortable & would definitely book again. Situated in a lovely quiet area & short walk to jetty which is delightful.

We absolutely love this lodge and it was fantastic to be able to stay there over Christmas.

It provided us with a relaxing bolt hole away from the usual feeding the masses Christmases past. It was a sad day when we had to come back. We realised that we forgot to leave a message in the visitors book at the lodge but please pass our thanks on to the lodge owners for allowing us to stay in coniston 9. We will be back !!! What a great lodge, went during the cold spell and it was lovely and warm.

Everything you need for a relaxing winter break. Birds and rabbits on the patio so take some bird food. Short drive to Bowness and Ambleside for shopping, bars and restaurants. Will be going back next year for sure

Beautiful lodge, well set out, enjoyed our stay.

A note for the site, there should be more lighting, because you cannot access the property till 5pm, it is dark at this time of the year, difficult to find your way around.

The lodge was beautifully decorated and in very close proximity to Windermere.

We didn't have a chance to use the site facilities as we only stayed for 3 nights but 9 Coniston was very spacious, clean and the beds were all really comfortable. There is absolutely nothing to improve on, but perhaps a darker carpet or a carpet clean every so often. I will not hesitate to come back in the future, and get the impression we were lucky to find a free weekend on 29th July with 5 days notice. Thank you.

An excellent lodge & centrally positioned base for touring the Lake District.

The site is well maintained & gives a lovely feeling of being amongst the trees. Lodges are well spaced out. This lodge had everything we needed and was well equipped. The welcome pack and tea/coffee were much appreciated. Just to note 2 minor things to be mindful of: if you like a large bath towel, bring your own; it can get quite loud when the cabaret act is on in the club. Otherwise I would highly recommend this lodge.

Coniston number 9 was fabulous better than some cottages we have stayed in, the kitchen was well equipped coffee machine a nice touch and the welcome pack was great the living area was lovely the beds were very comfy and the showers were amazing overall it was brilliant just wish we had the weather to crank up the bbq and dine on the spacious decking but you can't have everything we really enjoyed our stay, and will definitely be going back.

Would 100% recommend without hesitation.

It was a lovely place to stay.

The lodge was very open and the interior was simple and cute. Really enjoyed our stay, the check-in, and check-out process was quick and easy with no hassle. The only downside to the stay was the cleanliness of certain parts of the lodge. On arrival, there was an open half-eaten crisp packet left in the hallway, and the plates and bowls in the cabinets had bits of food stuck to them we went to use them. Other than that, everything else was lovely.

Our accommodation was extremely comfortable and spacious.

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of everything inside our lodge and also the peacefulness of the site itself.

We had an excellent stay There was an issue with the doors not locking but this was due to the extreme heat and someone came out to look at this within 12 hours.

The site at White Cross bay is well set out, peaceful and well maintained with helpful staff.

Coniston No 9 is an exceptionally well equipped Lodge, clean and VERY comfortable. We enjoyed a lovely holiday and the grandchildren loved it too, especially the play areas and lakeside access, including paddling in the lake. It was our first Lodge experience which we intend to repeat, hopefully at No9.

e. patio doors both out from living area and dining area to decking, Whole lodge was very clean and tidy. Location wise the site was perfectly situated for travelling around the area. Only a ten minute walk up to the visitor centre where we did the high tree top ropes, and you could hire kayaks etc for on the water. Only 15 mins in car to central Windermere and same other direction for Ambleside. We ended up just using the bus to get around as parking was very busy at all the car parks. With bus stops just outside the holiday park this was ideal, however the cost of the buses was expensive. Only discovered on last day that you could buy a weekly ticket that would have saved us money. We couldn't fault the lodge or site. Was not too busy and even strolling up to the club on site was nice. Or in the evening walking down to the water front of the park to sit was very relaxing. Would definitely book again and recommend.

Great cabin in a beautiful location.

It was great to get away after after lock down even with some restrictions still in place.

The lodge was very well equipped and felt like home from home.

We especially liked the decked area with seating and BBQ. The children fell in love with the dog foot stool (which they named Coco) and wanted to bring it home with them

Arrived to find a beautifully equipped lodged that was immaculately cleaned and well positioned within the site.

The staff were extremely polite and helpful. The facilities were good, however, some were unavailable, like the small gym for example, due to Coronavirus restrictions, but this was not totally unexpected. The location of the park was perfect for visiting all the best places in the Lake District and we were incredibly lucky with the weather during the period of our holiday. Only gripe was the poor WiFi and weak mobile signal, which made it difficult to plan things, or make bookings during our stay. Would definitely recommend the site and would use White Cross Bay again for any future stay in the area.

The park is beautiful and very well maintained The pool and gym were great, as for the restaurant food was delicious and the takeaway option of an evening is a great idea The whole site/park has it spot on!

As for the lodge, well it was beautiful and the so well kept A real break away just what we needed Only thing to warn visitors the site entrance/ exit is on a national speed limit road entering and leaving the park can be a bit hairy...just be aware

The toilets need a bit of attention - toilet seat was broken to pieces, the bin was broken to pieces.

Everything else, great!

Just writing you a little message as the freezer would not close it’s as if the suction seals no longer were working, so we defrosted the freezer and kept it left turned off until it is fixed other than that everything was perfect with the lodge

We enjoyed the fact that we could all be together and did not have any restrictions on when we had to get up or what time we would eat at.

We could watch tv or listen to music or just sit and chat and read a book or magazine in a social area.

When we arrived at the flat we were stunned by how clean everything was.

Every possible need for this trip had been taken care of. The kids had a great time too. Will definitely be coming back

The lodge was excellent the only thing that wasn't right was the TV channels the dish is to close to the trees outside inteferd with most of the channel's

An excellent site - clean and well laid out.

Accommodation exceeded expectations and had everything required. Staff very friendly on welcome and highlighted all that was available to us. Plenty of amenities nearby and a great base for exploring the lakes,. An exceptional bus service, even early in the year.

Lovely property but whilst rooms were very hot lounge being large area was quite cold and upping temperature didn’t help

K. but we work abroad for most of the year. Once we landed at Manchester we headed straight to the Lake District and Coniston 9. It was a wonderful welcome home-comfortable and cozy with a touch of luxury! The park is very relaxing and was perfect for our two children with the swimming pool. Coniston 9 has everything you could possibly need and we were very sad to leave! Our only wish is that we had booked for 2 weeks instead of one! We will be back in the future. Thank you!

We had a really good stay here.

The lodge was well equipped and comfortable. Where it is situated on the site is quiet and peaceful but close to reception where there is a pub, convenience store, swimming pool and small gym. We had three sunny days when we opened the doors onto the terrace and enjoyed the sunshine. On the less sunny days (!) it was still nice to sit inside the living area as it is very light and bright. The site is a short drive from Bowness where there are shops, ferries and the Beatrix potter attraction. It is also close to Windermere and you can walk to Brockhole. A great place for family holidays.

Coniston 9 is a wonderful lodge.

It was clean and perfect for our family 2 night stay. Little extras were appreciated, such as a tassimo coffee maker and pods supplied and dvds, books etc for our use. I would highly recommend this lodge and site.
