The property

The popular village of Staveley sits on the edge of the Lake District national park and it has become a popular destination for those wanting to explore the Lake District by car, on two wheels or on foot.

The village boasts its own brewery and an excellent artisan bakery, great local pubs and a well-stocked village shop as well as being only 5 miles from central Windermere. Originally opened as a Methodist chapel in 1866, following its closure the chapel was carefully developed into a terrace of four cottages, each incorporating the characterful original features that offer an insight into the history of the building.

Two The Chapel sits in the middle of the terrace and offers well presented, quality accommodation with open plan living accommodation, a choice of two bedrooms, a family bathroom and a pretty garden, with patio, overlooking the river. Staveley is also home to the UK’s largest cycle store, making this a particularly popular destination with cyclists of all grades and the neighbouring Kentmere Valley offers fantastic walking ranging from gentle rambles to strenuous fell top hikes. Accommodation In Detail Located in the centre of the village, guests arrive at the cottage through the shared access path in the garden.

A couple of steps rise from the path to the decked patio and the glazed arched door welcomes you inside.

The quirky living accommodation is open plan with a bright and airy lounge/kitchen/diner.

The sitting area includes a large sofa and armchair arranged around the welcoming log burning stove and guests can relax and enjoy the view back through the glazed door to the patio and garden.

A glass topped circular dining table is ideal for both family friendly breakfasts or social dinners in this upcycled space.

The well appointed fitted, shaker style, kitchen extends to the side with a social breakfast bar, a range cooker with five ring gas hob and electric double oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge with freezer box and complemented by an excellent inventory of crockery, cutlery and kitchenware.

The washing machine is located in the kitchen whilst the tumble drier is situated in an alcove by the door to the garden. The stairs rise to the first-floor bedrooms and family bathroom and here the great oak beams that hold the chapel roof add to the character.

There is a choice of two quirky bedrooms; the first is pretested with a king size double bed and the second with 3ft twin beds.

The sustainable bathroom offers a bath with shower over, basin and WC. To the rear, a small lawned garden over looks the river that runs through the village, and an elevated decked patio with bistro garden furniture is a lovely spot to relax with a morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Private parking space is available for one car and there is secure storage available for mountain bikes. Please note that the fridge has a small freezer box and there is no separate freezer. The pretty village lies at the gateway to the Kentmere Valley, in a convenient location between Kendal and Windermere. Staveley is alive with artisan crafts, live music, and art galleries, and it's also an absolute treat for foodies.

Artisan Bakery, the popular walkers' cafe 'Wilf's', the award-winning Hawkshead Brewery and Beer Hall (selling 'beer tapas' bar food and offering Brewery Tours.) Friendly Food & Drink (who make all natural preserves, jams and relishes), and Mr Duffins Coffee house.

Just down the road from the cottage is Café Eclec serving breakfast, home cooked lunches, tea/coffees and cakes.

Also within the village is the Eagle & Child Inn – a popular place for a hearty meal, with a pretty riverside beer garden.

All of these destinations are accessible by foot and only a 10 minute walk from the house.

You'll have to try them all! Heading out of the village, and just a 15 minute walk, is a micro brewery and traditional Lakeland pub, the Watermill Inn at Ings, offering up to 16 locally brewed ales to accompany food served in their restaurant. To stock up your kitchen and explore further afield, you only need drive a few miles on the A591 to Windermere village.

There, you'll find a high class Booths supermarket and many other useful shops.

From Windermere village, the A591 provides your main route into the heart of the Lakes, making Staveley a very convenient Lake District holiday base. For those not wishing to use a car the main bus stop is just down the road with frequent bus services to Kendal, Windermere, Keswick and beyond, running every hour.

A 10 minute walk also takes you to Staveley railway station where frequent trains run between Windermere and Kendal.

Outside of public services there are many taxi services running from either Windermere or Kendal.

For the more energetic there is a cycle route linking Staveley to Windermere.

Bike hire is also available within the village with an extensive range of road and mountain bikes.

The thriving Lakeland village of Staveley is situated on the eastern fringes of the Lake District National Park and offers superb access to the whole region.
