Bramblewood Cottage

This is a lovely peaceful spot, away from the crowds.

Very comfortable and well equipped. The owners next door are hospitable and helpful.

A fabulous place to stay, everything you would need for your stay, clean, tidy and comfortable.

Lovely location and only a few minutes drive from shops and the Lake District. Peaceful setting and we loved hearing and seeing the sheep and chickens amongst other wildlife! The owners were lovely and friendly and of course the cake, eggs and jam we were left were delicious!

The owners were very friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The welcome pack was thoughtfully created with delicious cake, homemade jam and fresh eggs, from their hens. The outdoor space was very spacious and incredibly peaceful. Very well equipped cottage including outdoor furniture and chairs. Lots of creative touches in the cottage which make it unique. Lovely space, very comfortable and the kindest of hosts.

Very comfortable cosy cottage had everything we required .

lovely welcome pack Fiona and Ricky very helpful, would recommend it for peace and tranquility, loved the chickens Larry and Lena

Nice accommodation clean and tidy in a very quiet area, kitchen had everything for self catering, large comfortable bed, with a nice hot working shower in the ensuite or bath if needed.

Was all ok in the lounge TV, book's, jigsaws and plenty of seating .on arrival we found we had been given cake, eggs and a jar of jam which was a nice touch.

Exceptionally clean and comfortable cottage with a great kitchen which had everything you could want and more for a self catering holiday.

The cake, jam, eggs and milk that Fiona and Rick left for us were an added bonus, both owners are very friendly. The bed was so comfortable and the quirky touches made the overall experience a lovely touch. The cottage is very remote but that adds to the beauty of the place and it's a short drive to the main Lakes. We loved the chickens they are so entertaining, the 3 sheep and 2 lambs were great to see and we had the added bonus of getting up two morning to 3 more baby lambs. Thanks to Rick and Fiona for a fantastic stay.

We had a very relaxing stay at Bramblewood cottage.

Being out in the countryside it was a very peaceful setting. It is well located for visiting many places of interest in the area. We loved the ver friendly ( greedy) chickens. The cottage was clean, warm and well equipped and on the whole comfortable however we found ( for us) we were unable to relax on the sofa. The owner Ricky was very nice and approachable, we did not meet Fiona but really enjoyed the lovely cake she left.

A perfect location for a peaceful holiday.

Great access to the lakes and the Cumbrian coast. Cottage was lovely and very clean and tidy. Stayed for 7 days from the 6th March and would certainly have another holiday at this cottage.

Lovely stay in this clean cosy cottage.

Jigsaw puzzles a great touch! Would stay again if the opportunity arises.

Very impressed with cottage and its facilities.

We absolutely loved our stay here.

Everything we needed for a comfortable stay with a young baby. Close to the places we wanted to visit and a quiet tranquil location to spend a day when we didn't feel like driving. The chickens are wonderful and we would definitely book again.

Had a wonderful stay, everything was fine

The accommodation was perfect.

Very spacious and clean. The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked with every utensil you could wish for, even a slow cooker and smoothie maker/blender. The chickens made it for us with their antics they were so funny and Fiona one of the owners could not of been nicer.

Lovely property, very much away from any amenities (pub, shop, etc) Fine by us though.

The property was very well equipped. To be fair, we have had a few via Sykes over the years and all have been great. This is most definitely not a complaint, but if you like to lie in past 6am, you may want to make sure bedroom window is closed. Apparently, Douglas the Cockerell doesn't do lay inside ha ha. Overall very impressed

This is our favourite accommodation , and we have booked with Sykes about 35 times now.

The property is in a beautiful area and is ideal for us as we like visiting The Lakes. The property is very well equipped with everything you can imagine and is very clean and unbelievably comfortable. We highly recommend this property. Plus Fiona and Ricky are super hosts. We booked here last year and hope to return soon.

Made most welcome by Fiona and Ricky place lovely and clean and comfortable and quite central.

Had a great time feeding the chickens and enjoyed being in the country. Would recommend if you like the country this is an ideal place to get away from it all.

A lovely property and hosts.

A real home from home and provided a quiet and peaceful week away from it all and certainly somewhere to visit again.

Had a relaxing holiday in stunning surroundings, so close to Lakes, coast and villages.

The cottage was perfect for us as OAP'S, so comfortable, clean and cosy with every mod con and the thoughtful welcome pack was much appreciated. Fiona and Ricky were unobtrusive but friendly hosts and we wish them well and highly recommend Bramblewood.

Just got home from our fifth stay at Bramblewood, once again l will be looking to book the next visit asap, if you are looking for a quiet but well equipped, clean and comfortable place to stay Bramblewood is the place to go.

Fiona & Rick are the perfect hosts always looking to make your stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. It’s the small thing that make the difference like having fresh eggs, milk, homemade jam and a cake waiting for you on arrival.

A lovely cottage in a tranquil setting.

Everything that you needed.

Our second visit to Bramblewood and the welcome from Rick and Fiona and the cottage itself were again excellent.

We spent the week cycling along the Solway coast and into the northern Lakes so really appreciated the secure bike storage. The most spacious cottage for two we’ve experienced and very well equipped. Thanks for another great week.

A very good stay in such a lovely cottage.

The kitchen is so light with double aspect windows and a view to the orchard. The jam, cake and eggs were much appreciated, thank you. This is a spacious cottage, plenty of space, comfortable and in a peaceful setting.

We had a great stay at bramble Wood cottage.

A warm and friendly welcome and lovely welcome pack was a great start. The cottage is very spacious and spotless throughout. The dining/kitchen has everything you need your stay with an amazing range cooker, and plenty of untesils and storage space. The downstairs toilet is very convenient.. Upstairs the living room is very comfortable with brilliant countryside views. The bedroom is large with a very comfortable bed, good wardrobe and drawer space. The ensuite bathroom was great with lovely shower and bath. It is a great place for a really relaxing stay but within easy reach of the coast or local towns. The real highlight of the holiday was being able to sit outside in the garden/orchard, morning and evening, looking at the countryside and the hosts chickens (the bramblewood brood) which kept us amused all week, the eggs were lovely as well. Well done to the owners for all their hard work making the cottage so nice. We would fully recommend.

Unfortunately, due to ill health, We had to cut our stay short and return home before our week ran out.

As a partially disabled person., I have to say that I found the staircase going up as well as down, quite a challenge and had to traverse it on my hands and knees. The cottage was very well equipped and was spotlessly clean and cannot fault it.

We had a great week at Bramblewood.

Cottage is beautiful, spacious, well equipped and very clean . The homemade jam and cake and fresh eggs were delicious. Only saw the owners once as we were out most of the time , but they were both lovely . Probably the best place we have stayed in . We will hopefully be back later this year .

I could not recommend this place enough!

Such a beautiful area a lovely little home and such amazing hosts, super friendly people and the most beautiful dogs! This was the get away we definitely needed, such a calm a peaceful environment, everything you could need in the property and shops only a small trip up the roads but far enough away to get away from the noise. Will definitely be coming back here again

We have to admit that part of the initial appeal of this cottage was the great price.

However, on arrival the farm cottage far exceeded our expectations. The downstairs kitchen diner is spacious, well fitted and has plenty of good quality pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. The downstairs WC and washing machine is a bonus. Upstairs the lounge area is comfortable, the TV having the full Freeview channel list as well as streaming. The bedroom is spacious and the large double comfortable with good quality bedding. The bathroom has everything you need with a powerful hot shower. The farm is a little isolated from shops so having your own transport is useful, but the bus route between Maryport and Carlisle is only about a 20 minute walk away with busses in either direction every 30 minutes. There was a lovely welcome pack which included some fresh farm eggs, homemade cake and jam. Owners Rick and Fiona were there if you needed them but otherwise left you in your own space which was perfect for us. We were delighted with our three week stay here and will stay again when in this area. We have stayed in approx. 40 cottages over the last couple of years and this is one of the best. Highly recommended. Note that the signs for the farm are indistinct and partially obscured even though there are two of them so stay on the lookout. It shares an access track with Goose Green farm.

Excellent property with all the usual necessities supplied, which was both comfortable and clean, warm and plentiful supply of hot water.

The owners are friendly as are the chickens!. An ideal spot for a quite restful holiday away from the maddening crowds.

Such a peaceful and beautiful place.

Has everything one could need. Well equipped kitchen, comfy and cosy living room, new sofa that is really comfortable and a good tv and excellent WiFi, fantastically comfortable bed and lovely bathroom area. Outside area with lovely views and very peaceful. The owners are lovely friendly people and the cake on arrival is out of this world.

Great cottage in a fantastic setting, very comfortable and felt just like home.

Great views and we loved watching the chickens. Lovely couple and very helpful. Had a great time exploring the area.

Outstanding!

! Beautiful, spotless, warmest of welcomes. Lovely treats, fabulous!!!

The cottage was fabulous - very cosy and very well equipped.

We loved the home made cake, jam and the eggs that were waiting for us when we arrived. It’s very close to the hills of the Lakes for great walking and close to the coast. Beautiful views in the Lakes and on the coast. Lovely area with lots to do. Great area for cycling too.

Excellent cant fault it at all.

One of the best properties we have stayed in. Comfy cottage with the best kitchen. Great shower and loads of space. Hosts were lovely and location exceptional. 10 minutes drive to lovely lake, hill or coastal walks. Can't wait to return.

A beautifully presented holiday cottage ideally placed for exploring the Solway coast and northern Lakes.

Fiona and Rick were the perfect hosts and the extras of homemade jam and cake added to their warm welcome. They also provided good storage for our bicycles. Each day we looked forward to returning to the cosy comforts of Bramblewood and enjoying the delights of a wonderful rural retreat. We’re already planning a return visit.

A comfortable and well-appointed cottage in idyllic surroundings.

It was a joy to have the hens and sheep around the place. The location is very convenient for the Solway Firth coast and northern lakes, with mostly quiet local roads. The owners made us very welcome, providing a delicious homemade cake and fresh eggs on arrival, and we left feeling as if we had been staying with friends.

Bramblewood Cottage is a beautiful property, with a well-equipped bright, and airy open plan kitchen-diner on the ground floor and a comfortable sitting room, bedroom, and bathroom on the first floor.

The sizable bathroom has a powerful shower and separate bath and the bed is incredibly comfortable. We loved the friendly resident chickens that trot around the property. Our hosts, Ricky and Fiona, who live next door were very friendly and helpful and we had some very thoughtful treats in the kitchen on arrival. We are very grateful for their hospitality, we felt very at home and would love to stay again in the future. It was one of the best properties we ever stayed at and we would highly recommend it. It is a great base, a convenient driving distance to Keswick, Grasmere, and Buttermere.

Very Friendly welcome with Cake, milk and eggs from the owners own hens.

Cottage was very spacious, well equipped, very peaceful. A good location for exploring the North Lakes but also not too far to travel to the South Lakes.

New sign needed at the entrance to the goose green farm, drove straight passed the entrance the first time.

Other than that a lovely cottage and great people.

BEST HOLIDAY HOME EVER, CLEAN, TIDY, EVERY FACILATY, SO QUIET , NO TRAFFIC, BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE.

HOSTS SO HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY, WOULD GO BACK TO THIS PROPERTY AGAIN., IDEAL FOR TOURING CUMBRIA AND YORKSHIRE OUR FAVOURITE LOCATIONS

Third visit to Bramblewood Cottage and already looking forward to booking the next stay.

Fiona and Ricky are the perfect hosts and go out of their way to make sure your stay is as relaxing as possible, the cottage is kitted out with every possible amenity you will need and the welcome gifts of eggs, milk and cake is always appreciated.

Enjoyed our stay very clean and well equipped lovely comfy bed and quiet surroundings

Very clean and well equipped and very comfortable.

Exactly as said in the brochure and very welcomed by the owners.

Beautiful cottage, maintained to a really high standard, everything was immaculate.

The cottage was very well equipped and the owners even left a welcome gift, the homemade jam was superb - thank you. The cottage setting was very peaceful and relaxing, and was lovely to see the chickens running around every day. The Cottage is about 20 miles from Whitehaven, with super fast electric car chargers.

Our third time here, its restful and relaxing.

Comfy bed, excellent shower and bathroom, warm and cosy. Decent WiFi access and decent TV channel choice. Very well equipped kitchen, lovely welcome pack. White sofa not comfortable for long (our only grouch, needs another comfy chair ideally). Will definitely be back.

A wonderful cottage, in a quite location.

The kitchen was particularly good. It was very spacious with excellent modern appliances. The rest of the cottage was very very comfortable and clean. The owners, who live next door, were very welcoming and gave us some of their free range eggs from the hens, which roam around the farm. We would happily stay here again.

Spotless place.

Great place to stay, clean and comfortable with most amenities. Nice and quiet with little or no noise from the owners next door to the property. Owners were there if needed but were not at all intrusive. We will be returning next year The welcome pack was a nice touch (cake, milk, eggs & jam). Thanks Ricky & Fiona.

Great location for a restful break.

Very well equipped with high quality equipment. Spotlessly clean, very comfortable bed, large bathroom with excellent shower. A very quiet and peaceful place.

Ticked every box, fab location, quiet, relaxing, easy to access whole of Lake District.

Very comfortable, lovely views. Our go to cottage now when we visit the area again.

I travel a lot and very often find that the photos of the property no way match with the reality.

Bramblewood Cottage is actually better than the photographs! It is such a beautiful space - a wonderfully spacious kitchen, a comfortable sitting room with TV that has every channel you could wish, and a good bed. The shower is powerful. I was really delighted with the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

Beautiful cottage, Ricky and Fiona, were very welcoming, loved all the animals especially the chickens and rooster that woke us up early in the morning.

The cottage was very clean and tidy, very large kitchen downstairs, very well appointed, very well equipped, would definitely recommend to anyone.

We had a lovely time here.

The cottage was spotless and very comfortable - the owners have thought of everything you could need and they're very welcoming and friendly and on hand if you need anything. The welcome gifts - eggs, milk, cake, tea/coffee were a lovely touch We loved the fact that it was in a quiet area but there's lots of places to visit nearby. This part of the lakes is quieter than the main areas but very picturesque with lots to do. We enjoyed Maryport, Keswick, Silloth, Carlisle and Whitehaven. We'll definitely return as there's so much more that we want to see and do. The friendly sheep and hens made our stay! Thank you. Jeanette and Ian

A real find!

Very comfortable cottage, in such a quiet and peaceful location. Everything was perfect, thank you.

This was our second stay at Bramblewood Cottage, already looking to book a third stay.

The location is perfect to lay back and recharge the batteries, Ric & Fi are the perfect hosts and make you feel like one of the family. You can explore anywhere in the lakes within an hours travel and then return to be entertained by the free ranging an friendly chickens. Simply the best, cleanest and well kitted out holiday let that we have stayed at.

Bramblewood cottage is a perfect retreat to escape the hectic pace of city life.

So peaceful and relaxing, comfortable, warm and welcoming. The owners are friendly and there for any help and advice you need. We would highly recommend the cottage.

Bramblewood Cottage is a perfect place for a peaceful, relaxing holiday.

It is an extremely comfortable cottage. It is well equipped and immaculately clean. Parking right next to the door, an amazing kitchen with a dishwasher and a washing machine and a lovely little garden with wonderful views, where you can sit and watch the chickens with a cuppa! The hosts are very friendly and the welcome pack of jam, milk, eggs and cake was very much appreciated. It is a little off the beaten track and not in the main touristy areas, which suited us down to the ground but Windermere, Ambleside etc are all easily accessible in less than an hour. A perfect place to stay and definitely recommended.

Well equipped property in a nice location, could be better signposted as we drove past it twice and sat nav said we were there a good couple of miles before we were !

This is one of the best cottage's we have stayed in and we have stayed in quite a lot.

Well equipped huge kitchen with fridge/freezer. Living area is upstairs, making the most of the views towards the Scottish mountains. Cosy and warm, although a different sofa would be nice. Bedroom has kingsize bed which is very comfortable . Lovely big bathroom and shower. Owners very helpful when needed. Welcome pack of fresh eggs from the chickens who kept us amused, cake and milk. All in all a beautiful place to stay.

Thank you for a lovely stay, it was home from home.

Everything we needed was supplied. Great entertainment given by the chickens. We also enjoyed their lovely fresh eggs ,and the homemade jam and scones were a delight . The cottage was warm and cosy through out our stay. This couple really care about the comfort of their guests. Would recommend for a peaceful comfortable break. Thank you. X

Just the perfect cottage.

Very comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The location was idyllic, and the friendly sheep and free range chickens completed the picture. Really enjoyed the scones and eggs on arrival. Ideal cycling country, not too many hills. Cycle storage in the out buildings. A very enjoyable stay enhanced by the warm, sunny November weather.

Very well equipped, welcome pack the best we've ever had. Totally relaxing, a superb property.

Lovely comfortable cottage with friendly welcoming hosts.

Everything provided for a great stay. Kitchen and toilet on ground floor, lounge, bedroom and bathroom on first floor. Peaceful location and not too far off for travelling around the Lake District. Perfect place to relax and watch the chickens. Definitely recommend this for anyone wanting accommodation in this area and would love to come back and stay again sometime.

Exceptional spacious Cottage in peaceful quiet location.

Ideal for visiting the Lake District and just the right distance from the more Tourist locations. Friendly Hosts and great homemade Scones and Jam and Free Range Eggs from the Chickens on arrival. Highly recommend place to stay.

A beautiful, comfortable cottage in rural surrounds.

The cottage had every facility one could wish for and the owners and their family could not have been more helpful and friendly. The scones, jam, cream and eggs provided on arrival was the start of what was to be a wonderful experience. We will be back.

Wonderful location, excellent comfortable and clean cottage, everything we needed for our stay was there for us.

We had a wonderful holiday at Bramblewood Cottage.

Our hosts were extremely helpful and friendly. Loved the wild life especially the baby chicks, not so much the rooster at 3am although my husband heard him I did not. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone wishing for a relaxing break. Ideal for us.

What a find!

! We spent a week here whilst visiting friends and couldn't have been happier. The cottage is beautiful and in fabulous surrounds. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We needed for nothing and the cream tea on arrival was just lovely. Thoroughly recommend Bramblewood Cottage to everyone.

We have just returned from this lovely cottage just above the Lake District.

The cottage was pristine, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners were a lovely couple who clearly went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable. We had an arrival gift of homemade scones and jam. 6 fresh eggs from the chickens kept on the farm. Butter, tea, coffee and sugar too. The surrounding area was very peaceful and we were sorry to leave. I would highly recommend this cottage in a beautiful part of UK.

Bramblewood Cottage is a joy.

It's so peaceful, spacious, clean and comfortable. The towels are supersoft and there are plenty of books and games for quiet nights in. All around there are fields and flower filled lanes with plenty of quiet walks. We were surrounded by birdsong and the clucking of the hens that scratched in the yard. The welcome cakes and home made preserves were delicious and typical of the kindness shown by Fiona and Rick. We came away relaxed and refreshed and very very glad that the advert for Bramblewood had popped up on Google!

We enjoyed our week at BRAMBLEWOOD so much.

It was the most peaceful break for years. The house is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped and owners could not have been more helpful. The lakes and coast both within 30 min drive and good places to eat nearby. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Best cottage we have stayed at

Lovely stay, beautiful cottage.

Really quiet & peaceful location, cottage was incredibly clean & tidy. Was stocked with everything you would need. Amazing cakes left for us - pecan & apple gorgeous. Only 1 small suggestion would be a more comfortable sofa in the living room as current one is a wooden sofa bed.

Cottage is ideally placed in a quiet location for you to tour the Lakes.

Ricky and Fiona made us most welcome and the cake and jam on our arrival was a nice surprise. The Cottage was an ideal size for a couple with all the facilities you need. Would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a quiet place for a relaxing break.

The accommodation was the best of all the Sykes cottages that we have stayed in so far.

This was a superior cottage and ideal for a quiet getaway.

Although the property is in an isolated situation it is comfortable and very homely. The owners were very friendly and left a very nice welcome pack.

A lovely, comfortable, well equipped cottage in a beautiful location ideal for access to the north Lakes.

The hosts, living next door, were really friendly and helpful and so generous with a welcome pack which included some tasty home-made produce. We really enjoyed our stay here. Everything was perfect. John& Alison. Sept 2021.
