Solway View the property is always spotless and everything you could need is there. Comfortable beautiful views from your window and walks along the sea just across the road . Dogs are welcomed treats towels and always a new tennis ball waiting too. Also home made treats for guests x The owner is always available and in contact if need be . Perfect place and area for a relaxing holiday .

This was our second stay at Solway View and once again it didn't disappointed.

It is an excellent property with everything you need for a great holiday. There are also great walks from the property.

We had a lovely relaxing holiday in this beautiful spotless cottage, a true home from home.

Everything was perfect as well as wonderful views across the Solway and lovely walks from the doorstep. Great places to visit nearby also. We can thoroughly recommend staying here and look forward to returning in the future.

Solway View is a perfect holiday cottage, it is absolutely beautiful and decorated tastefully and some lovely photos making it very homely There is everything you need in the cottage, including a ball which our dog picked up as soon as we walked in.

The garden is perfect for sitting out and secure for our dog. It was our second visit to Solway view and hope to be back.

We found it peaceful but within distance to plenty of places to visit. But also a lovely garden just to relax in and dog friendly

Absolutely immaculate property with wonderful views across the Solway Firth and in an excellent location to explore Silloth and the surrounding areas.

The property itself is spotlessly clean and has all mod cons for a comfortable stay. A nod to Chris (and not forgetting Mark!) as she thinks of everything, even down to leaving a ball, some bags, and a towel just inside the door for your 4-legged pal (sorry, Chris, but it looks like Jonty has claimed the ball...!!). There's even some top-notch homemade shortbread and a large bag of posh crisps waiting for you as you arrive and make your first brew—although I never sampled either, so I can only assume these were spirited away out of sight before I could tackle them. :-) Teabags, coffee, and milk are also provided to tide you over until you pop down to the local Co-op or Spar just a few short minutes down the road. All in all, this is a pristine property provided by a respectful, thoughtful, and very helpful host. I have absolutely no hesitation whatsoever in giving Solway View a 5* rating and recommending this property for others to enjoy.

We have stayed in many holiday homes and thought them extremely good but I must say this one tops them all. So many thanks to Chris, who maintains good communication with her guests, and we’ll see you again next year as Paul has just booked our week in May 2027. Solway View is a superb property.

From the cleanliness to the view of the Solway Firth from the windows. It’s beautifully decorated & has a lot of charm. It is equipped with everything (almost) you need & the owner leaves a gift for you on arrival. Definitely a property to return to.

Made several visits to this house and it is really , really excellent.

One of the very best we have stayed in and we fully intend to return again It is evident from the reviews that they have many returning guests and it is easy to understand why The accommodation is beautifully presented and equipped with everything you would ever need The location is superb as is the support from the owner Chris. The only negative is the general disinterest from Sykes once you have booked. They don’t answer the phone “unless you want to book or pay “ or you get bounced around their system without ever getting a resolution or on a number occasion to even to speak to someone. The only way I could get them to react was to get Chris , the property owner, to intervene on my behalf. So frustrating , their service I am afraid has gone backwards since the pandemic

The bungalow was a real home from home in a lovely location.

It was well equipped and spotless. The welcome goodies left by Chrissy were a perfect touch. I had to contact Chrissy as a fence blew down during our stay and she dealt with it promptly. I would reccomend Solway View to anyone who wanted a relaxing holiday.

A top quality property in a wonderful location.

The only concern we had was the sofa.

We have bad backs and the sofa was to soft for us. Beds where brilliant.

FOREVASINGLEMAN myself stayed at Solway View here in Silloth for 3 weeks over the Christmas and New Year festive season from Monday 22 December 2025 to Monday 12 January 2026 all on my happy one, and i was not disappointed at all, as i loved every minute of my 3 weeks here.

It was a 2 bedroom detached bungalow with the lounge and one of the two main bedrooms facing the sea, with the second other bedroom and kitchen facing inland with views of the hills of Cumbria and the main Caldbeck TV transmitter in the near distance, some 10 miles or so from the home itself. The welcome pack of home made shortbread, slices of Christmas cake, eggs, butter, bread, milk and home made marmalade, plus a big tin of Roses chocolates, and a Christmas card, plus the property itself decorated for the Christmas and New Year festive season is a delight and a credit to the owners of Solway View itself. Hardly no problems at all during my time here, in fact being a detached property i stayed in the majority of my time, though i did occasionally shop in Silloth itself, visited Carlisle, and that's it. Yes i am back for a 2nd holiday here god willing for 2 weeks next time, but from Tuesday 29 December 2026 to Tuesday 12 January 2027 as silly me i forgot to book early enough for Christmas week between Tuesday 22 December 2026 to Tuesday 29 December 2026 which had already been booked by another holidaymaker during this time. Highly recommended is Solway View and a gem indeed. Many thanks to the owners Christine and Mark (surname withheld) for your property being a holiday let.

Our second visit to Solway View and once again we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Chris and Marks attention to detail is spot on...cottage is very well equipped, smart and comfortable. The little treats were lovely too..thank you. Only thing that let the week down was the weather but that's what waterproofs are for!! We're certainly going to be back in 2026.❤️

Our week staying at Solway view exceptional.

We have stayed in a castle, bothy and a manor house but this was the most cosy and well equipped holiday home we have been in .We explored the solway coast and lake district and each day ended with a promenade into Sillioth.A most enjoyable holiday with lots of memories.

This was without doubt the cleanest well equipped house we have ever stayed in.

The attention to detail was incredible. The owners have done an amazing job renovating and decorating. The location is beautiful with the added bonus of gorgeous sunsets. What a little gem Solway View is.

Beautifully decorated, immaculate and equipped with everything you could need....even little sewing kits!!! Fabulous views over Solway Firth and so peaceful..well apart from Storm Darragh who visited us the first couple of days!!!! Thank you to Chris for the homemade treats and the present for Luna our greyhound. Not a bad walk into Silloth which is a lovely place. Found a dog friendly cafe, the Fairydust Emporium, and would recommend a visit there. All in all a brilliant week and we would certainly recommend this lovely cottage. We will certainly be back!!!

We have been holidaying, 3 times a year, in self catering holiday homes in the UK for over 20 years and we can honestly say that this property rates amongst the highest quality, if not the highest, we’ve ever stayed in.

It is very nicely decorated and the kitchen is well equipped. Normally after a few days I am ready to go home - I miss my own bed! However, this holiday I didn’t want to go home, it was that comfortable. The owners have thought about dogs as well, providing towels, poo bags and treats which is a nice touch. We can highly recommend this property and would definitely stay there again.

This is our second year at Mark and Chris’ beautiful cottage.

You have everything that you need. The home is so warm and comfortable. Chris leaves a lovely welcome gift of homemade Marmalade and shortbread biscuits along with other treats. We also were welcomed by a beautiful bunch of roses. Please don’t’ t hesitate to book this cottage with its amazing view of Solway Firth and Criffel in Scotland. Amazing. Love it.

Excellent stay.

The accommodation is of a very high standard. The little extras such as flowers and treats were very welcome.

This was our second stay and we have already booked for next spring The facilities are much above average compared to other cottages we have used.

Nothing if left to chance with everything provided (even a functioning laundry) How the owner Chris and Mark got everything into a relatively small bungalow without compromising comfort is beyond amazing. Lots of nice touches and spotlessly clean. This is a nice but relatively unknown area but with decent shops and cafes and a number of interesting places to see. History buffs can enjoy Bowness on Solway and Burgh by Sands where Romans built forts and started a Wall! And an ancient English king died and laid in state in a surviving church. Who knew that and how cool is it. Lake District and Carlisle, which also has a great history, are both within relatively short drives Go but leave a few spare weeks for me!

Our stay at the cottage was amazing, it was such a lovely, clean, warm and comfy place to stay with amazing views.

All that sea air and comfy bed made for an excellent night sleep. The little treats were delicious, lexie our 4 legged friend enjoyed hers too and communication with Chris was great. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

We had a fabulous stay at Solway View.

It really is very comfortable and cosy with fantastic views of the sea! It has absolutely everything you could possibly need while on holiday and we all loved it, including the dog (he especially liked the back yard where there is a sun trap!). The walk along the promenade to Silloth is great and there are plenty of eateries to choose from and if you want to go further afield, no-where is too far away. We’ll definitely be back! Ps the homemade shortbread and marmalade left as a treat were delicious! Thank you!

We have been hiring holiday cottages for 30+ years and this cottage outshone any.

First class furnishings and fittings, everything you could possibly need, even board games and books and all of a very high standard. Beautiful location to enjoy both the coast and the lakes of Cumbria. A thoughtful owner who had supplied not only some basics but lovely treats. We highly recommend this property.

An idyllic spot, stunning scenery, beautiful sunsets and rises.

Very peaceful. The cottage itself is 10/10 absolutely immaculate with everything you could wish for, from air freshener to milk in the fridge. All you need to bring is yourselves! Highly recommended.

Hi Chris & Mark, what can I say, your home was beautiful.

So comfy clean and so well equipped with everything you need, even down to salt & pepper, etc. What a beautiful welcome gift too. The whole home was set up with amazing quality equipment, furnishings and beds, bedding in fact everything. The icing on the cake is that beautiful view over the Sollway of Criffel. I took loads of photos. The scene changes by the minute. Do not be afraid to book this home. Silloth and surround ing towns are lovely. You are also on the edge of then Lake District. I love Silloth as we come over several times a year to stay with friends but thought we would give them a rest from us. I sincerely hope I can visit again. It is the best.

It has been beautifully renovated and thoughtfully prepared for visitors. The location is lovely and despite awful weather we thoroughly enjoyed everything the area had to offer. Silloth has a calm, old-fashioned charm and we really liked walks there for coffee. The views from the property are wonderful, and there are good walks direct from the door - handy for dog walking . Would definitely recommend a stay here.

The views from the front of the house across the Solway are superb. The owners were helpful without being instructive. Highly recommended The unexpected joy was the area around Silloth and the village itself. It has the faded glory of many older British seaside resorts but undoubted charm. There is also a lot of local history to explore from Hadrians Wall , old Ww2 airfields and the the site of the death ( I know morbid!) of King Edward 1 Suffice to say we have rebooked the house for Spring next year

A home from home.

Well equipped property, excellent seating outside for breakfast or a glass of wine to watch the sunset. Very central for visiting other places or just walking to Silloth. Already booked for 2024.

A beautiful bungalow with a lovely view across the Solway Firth.

All our needs were catered for and to top it off, the weather was good.

Solway View was a beautiful exceptional bungalow, well equipped, comfortable, lovely patio and views out across the Solway Firth.

Not only was it a home from home, there were even dog treats and dog towels. However, Silloth was not what we had expected, we had been before a number of years ago and remember it as a busy thriving town. But, as we discovered on our first walk into town, there was nowhere to have an evening meal as dogs were not allowed in any of the hotels or cafes. The town was lacking in any amenities at all and a real disappointment to us. The best part of the town was Silloth Green and the walk into town from the bungalow was lovely for us and our little dog.

Having stayed over New Year, we found the bungalow to be very warm, very clean, very comfortable and very well equipped. This is definitely a property which could be booked with confidence.

This Cottage is superb Chris& Mark have made it a special place Spotlessly clean Comfortable and so well equipped our Welcome treats were amazing even treats for Dottie our Little Poochon only niggle we found was the small TV a struggle for us to read words with being of a certain age ha ha we enjoyed the trips out and about the area and facing the Sea so much so we have already rebooked for February ( Hubbys Birthday) xx

Very well appointed and decorated with everything bright and fresh. Beds very comfortable. Absolutely delightful. Lovely little touches with the welcome items. Only criticism is that there are too many ornaments and nick nacks. Will be rebooking again.

Solway view is one of the best holiday let’s we have stayed in.

Very homely, every thing is spotlessly clean, decor is wonderful, very comfortable sofa and beds. I can not praise this holiday let enough. There was no need for me to have taken any cleaning products. Left for us was a welcome pack of marmalade, biscuits, crisps and fresh milk and treats for our Labrador Molly, thank you for the use if dog towels and poo bags. There is nothing I can give a black mark about. Back yard is enclosed and safe for animals and children with table and chairs, lovely potted plants. Although there is a road routside, the double glazed window did their job. View from the front window is ideal to watch beautiful sun sets. Try out Fairydust Emporium, great food, great prices, warm and friendly staff, venue is beautiful and different to other cafés and dogs are welcomed.

Solway View was the best cottage we have stayed at.

It was spotlessly clean, very well equipped (even to binoculars and a telescope!) and very comfortable. The views from the cottage across the Solway Firth are amazing. Little touches are important and the home-made biscuits and marmalade were delicious!

Had a fantastic holiday at solway view holiday cottage, the cottage was absolutely perfect with everything in it you could need, it was sparkling clean and beautifully decorated, the welcome treats off the owners was so nice and thoughtful making us feel right at home from the minute we arrived.

For us the outside spaces were what set this wonderful bungalow apart from many others we have stayed in. The choice of sitting in the secluded back of the property or in the front, with the sea view, was delightful.

Beautiful vista across the Solway Firth to watch the sun go down and all the comforts of a home from home. Little touches of extra hospitality really makes this cottage by the sea the perfect place to unwind and recharge the batteries. Delicious home made shortbread and excellent home made marmalade were waiting for us on arrival and the dog was provided for too. Dog towels and poop bags by the front door and a huge bowl of gravy bones and other assorted treats, plenty to treat the dog all week.

Great communication from the beginning. Beautiful, clean cottage with some really lovely, unexpected extra touches, such as some delicious homemade easter biscuits and Easter eggs for the kids. Everything there for a cup of tea/coffee when you arrive. Felt at home as soon as we walked through the door. Stunning view of the water right outside the windows. Its a dog friendly cottage and I was a bit apprehensive about there being signs of dogs having been there, such as dog hair and/or it smelling of dogs, but there was no sign or smell. Just a very clean, tidy, beautiful cottage. Loved the photos that are there to show the work that's been put into it. It's a fantastic cottage. Will definitely be sharing this little gem with everyone and will definitely be booking again.

We visited over Easter and it was decorated to celebrate the event . Decor is gorgeous beds are comfortable and lovely secure garden if you have a dog . Scenery amazing and so much green space too . A gem of a find we hope to return for a longer stay perfect nothing negative to say x

A really lovely holiday home.

Felt at home from arrival. Greeted with a very welcomed hospitality pack to make a cuppa and try some of their homemade shortbread! The home was equipped with everything we needed to feel comfortable and enjoy a 'home from home' experience. The location was set in a beautiful park of Cumbria.

This well appointed cottage has excellent views of Solway Firth and is excellently located for visits to the Lake District or shopping in Carlisle.

This is a fantastic sea side cottage that caters for your every need , superbly clean, extremely comfortable and well fitted out .

All the comforts of home are there and every detail attended to . It is situated in Skinburness close to Silloth. The position is just outstanding for dog walkers who like the sea. The surrounding area is so very interesting both historically and geographically. Fifteen minutes by car gets you to Bowness on Solway in one direction and Allonby in the other, check out the history and architecture and the Ice cream shop , not forgetting the cheese place and Freshly caught fish and potted shrimp in Silloth. After 5 days there we returned home restored and relaxed due to the peace and the pace of life. Hoping to visit again

This is a beautifully decorated cottage with all the facilities you require and more.

It is in a quiet location looking onto the Solway. It is a great base to explore the lake district and surrounding areas. Both we and our furbaby enjoyed a long walk everyday along the grassy front, which was also ideal for our dog to have a good run around and as it is on a quiet road it is extremely safe. We would 100% recommend this property to anyone looking to have a break in this area. We would not hesitate to book this cottage next time we are looking for a break away from it all.
