We loved it , the pool table was fun.

Loved the layout of the living area always felt like we were together. My little granddaughter loved the cows and would look out for them throughout the day.

Large cottage on Western edge of Lake District.

About 20-30 mins drive to Keswick and Buttermere. Close to Whitehaven and Cockermouth for shopping trips. Friendly helpful owners live next door. Plenty of parking. Large garden and views over pasture. Five dedicated bedrooms. Two with double beds. One has ensuite. Three bedrooms with twin singles. The games room also has two single beds that are multi purpose sofa. Three bathrooms and shower rooms in addition to the ensuite. Large dining kitchen. Comfortable and clean. Thank you to owners.

Fabulous holiday home for a large family.

Love the open plan and rural view. Ideal, secure and large garden for children to enjoy. Would definatley like to return!

We liked the property very much!

It was great for a large group, lovely spacious living area with fantastic kitchen. Really appreciated the number of bathrooms, comfy beds and the outdoor space. Hosts v.welcoming and helpful with any queries. A couple of comments: Only draw back in kitchen was lack of a sharp knife, but otherwise we couldn't have wished for anything, it was so generously equipped. Also, the couple of local paths that we tried to take (as mentioned in the description) were impassable, too many nettles, brambles etc Thankyou!

We had a wonderful week at White Gables.

On arrival the house was beautifully clean and well presented. White Gables was a relaxing home away from home. Well equipped with everything needed and more for a large group. Plenty of space in the lounge/dining room to accommodate everyone. All the bedrooms and bathrooms were immaculate. Outside areas were great. Cheryl was very friendly and helpful when contacted both before and during our stay. Sofas in the lounge and outside benches are a little tired but this did not detract from our experience of our stay. We have already recommended to family and friends. We would love to return for another family gathering. The area has so much to offer.

We went as a large family 9 of us and we all felt very comfortable in this lovely house.

The kitchen is very well equipped but if there is anything else you require the owner is very willing to try and get it for you. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the large garden for playing and also a very nice outside sitting area. There was nice walks from the house down to the river and it was only about a 10 minute ride to the big supermarket. There is a very nice pub just at the end of the road. We would love to come back to this property in the future.

Amazing house which is really well equipped for a family get together.

The layout is fantastic with the games room downstairs and fantastic garden for the kids. Brilliant having 4 bathrooms and a very spacious living area. Decorated beautifully and very comfortable. The outside spaces are great for gathering and having a bbq. We would definitely recommend.

Wow - what a wonderful week we had!

Cottage is immaculately clean, kitchen is very well stocked and all the bedrooms and bathrooms are superb. Wi-Fi is very fast. Garden is huge and we had the good fortune to go when the weather was warm and sunny so could enjoy it! Pub next door was well worth a visit and there are multiple stores within a ten minute drive. Cottage is well situated near Keswick, Workington, Cockermouth etc. One thing worth mentioning is that the 2 televisions, while having free view, were not smart TV’S - no access to Netflix, Prime etc. I took a firestick with me so would recommend doing the same. Would highly recommend!!

Great cottage in an excellent location for exploring the Lake District by bike.

There was plenty of room for a party of 9 and the hosts were very helpful. We hope to get back there sometime soon.

We - an inter-generational family group of 9 - had an absolutely super week staying at White Gables.

The house is really impressive - several times during the week one or other of us would comment on how perfect it was. It is very spacious with lovely, attractively decorated bedrooms, very well equipped kitchen/dining area and such a comfortable lounge area. It was so easy to just relax into the house from the beginning of our stay. It was lovely having seating outside the French windows as well as a large grassy area, which was ideal for football games! The house is decorated and furnished to a high standard - I really liked the upcycled furniture in the double bedroom I was in - and there were lots of attractive little touches that made the rooms more interesting and attractive. The lounge area had three long sofas with lots of cushions and some throws and was an ideal space in which to chill out and to play crazy games! There was ample parking and the directions we were sent beforehand were very helpful. We thought the house was in a great position - off the beaten track but within easy reach of the Western Lakes, Cockermouth, Keswick etc. Cheryl was really helpful if we needed anything but never intrusive in any way. It was clear she and Colin have put lots of thought into making the house somewhere very special in which to stay - and they have succeeded! We can't recommend it highly enough - it's brilliant!

It is beautifully decorated and there is a lot of space. Our kids especially liked the pool table and darts. The view from the lounge and garden is amazing. It was the perfect location to explore the Lakes and we recommend the Sunday roast at the local pub! We had a fantastic stay.

We loved staying at White Gables.

It was really well set up for a group of 10 friends. We all had our own bed and the social dining/sitting area was wonderful. Really nice kitchen and appreciated the 4 bathroom areas ( 1 en-suite). Great location for visiting the Lakes area generally. Would definitely recommend.

Fab cottsge

Stayed with family of 12 of mixed ages from 6months old, up to 70.

Could not fault the accommodation, games room was used every day, and kitchen was lovely, with ample space for us to all eat our meals. Pub was literally 2 min walk away, and there was plenty of places to see in the surrounding area on the occasions that we ventured out. Would definitely recommend the cottage. Communication with the owner was excellent.

A really lovely, spacious house in an area ideal for walking and cycling.

My group have stayed in numerous holiday lets in both Scotland and Yorkshire and we found that White Gables is one of the best we have been accommodated in. Although we didn't use it, there is a downstairs bunkroom with 2 beds; lots of videos, books and a pool table.

Amazing weekend away!

! The photos for this house do not do it justice, it is huge!! Set in a beautiful quiet little village with a pub situated within a couple of minutes walk that serves lovely food, was ideal for our little break. The house is beautiful inside and was spotlessly clean. With a large garden at the rear, which we sat in to stargaze and a patio area leading off the living area, it was just perfect. I would highly recommend this property and we are already planning another visit next year. Communication has been excellent between Cheryl and myself and I just want to say a huge thank you for organising the return of my daughters make up bag, it is greatly appreciated.

Lovely house with comfy beds, plentiful bathrooms and all necessary kitchen accessories.

Great location and excellent hotel with great food nearby! We’d booked a family holiday and took my elderly mum. Unfortunately, she found the settees in the lounge went too far back and were too low for her to get up from comfortably. Apart from this I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday home!

So much room, the house was so quiet too. We had a lovely time with a spread of ages. The youngsters thoroughly enjoyed the pool table and darts, the toddler loved running around the enormous garden. Plenty of space for the cars and the owners have thought of everything. Thank you so much x

House was fantastic.

Decor lovely and everywhere was spotlessly clean. The owner provided lots of games,books and DvDs which was a nice touch. There was also extra everything i.e towels, pillows and duvets. The garden was large and we enjoyed a good game of rounders. The only negative is that some of the beds were uncomfortable.

We booked for my mam’s 70th birthday and wouldn’t hesitate to book again in time for my dad’s! 11 of us in total and the set up suited us perfectly. The owners were on hand and very friendly throughout our stay. Thank you again!

We had a fantastic few days at White Gables.

The property is clean , spacious and fully equipped with all the facilities we required, with the added bonus of a games room. There is also plenty of parking space. The location is good ,very quiet with views across open fields. Great Clifton is a good location for exploring the Area and we would recommend The Old Ginn House pub and restaurant, a 5 minute walk from White Gables , the food is very good. Cheryl ,the owner of the property was very helpful and friendly and it was lovely to meet her. Overall we would highly recommend White Gables, we could not fault it and we hope to revisit again in the future.

Amazing property.

Alot bigger than it looks on the photographs, very, very impressed. The space and facilities where 10/10 couldnt ask for anymore. Plenty of towels, amazing kitchen facilities. The owner lives next door and is lovely. Would definately recommend, you won't be disappointed.

10 out of 10 White Gables was absolutely the perfect house for our group of twelve.

It was a great place to celebrate my partners 50 birthday with family. Open plan lounge dining kitchen made it a fabulous area to socialise.House was very clean and everyone slept well. This property has 4 bathrooms which made things so much easier when getting ready. The queen room has a lovely view to open fields and was very peaceful. The games room was a great space to chill with DVDs and plenty of books to choose from. We would love to return in the summer months to make use of the outside space and BBQ. The local pub( The Old Gin House) is very close, I'd say less that two mins. We ate there and all our meals were marvellous. The hosts of White Gables are lovely and you feel nothing is to much trouble for them, they live nextdoor so were on hand, but in no way intrusive. There was nothing lacking whatsoever. Would recommend in a heartbeat . We enjoyed days out in St Bees, White Haven, loweswater Hayley and Family

The spacious games room was a great place for the children to occupy themselves , a bonus for the adults too !. The friendly owner's live next , door and are at hand for any questions, providing speedy responses . Our family stayed for 4 nights to celebrate my Birthday and it was absolutely perfect , im sure we will return , and will definitely be recomending it to our friends .

The property is beautiful, very comfortable and has everything you need. The location is good with it being close to Cockermouth, Keswick, Workington & Whitehaven and the local pub/restaurant (The Old Ginn House Inn), is a 2 minute walk away. We wouldn't hesitate recommending White Gables to others & we will definately book again.

What a great holiday cottage.

Ideal for a large group, extremely clean and well equipped, a real home from home. Great location within east reach of many of the Lakes. Would highly recommend White Gables and would not hesitate to come back again.

White Gables is absolutely fantastic.

If you are looking for somewhere for a large group, this is definitely the place for you. Ample easy parking for at least six cars. Six excellent bedrooms- including one which doubles as a large well equipped games room. Very comfortable beds. Beautifully made up rooms. Very handy storage room. Four bathrooms. Excellent large, spacious open plan living/dining/kitchen area with plentiful seating for everyone. Everything you could wish for in the kitchen. Spotlessly clean throughout. Cheryl was extremely helpful in answering my questions and helping with restaurant recommendations before our stay. And we knew that she was just next door if we had needed her during our stay - which we didn’t. All in all, a brilliant place to meet together with family or friends as there is plenty of room for everyone to have their own space but also fantastic communal areas. Add to that- it’s in The Lake District - what more needs to be said!

Great house for a large family holiday.

The host was brilliant, communicated well and there for any issues you may have. Lots of space inside and outside. Kids loved the downstairs games room/bedroom. Good for public transport routes and there is a cracking pub virtually next door that did really nice food. Highly recommend.

Owner couldn't do enough for us the house was absolutely beautiful so big it didn't feel like there was 12 us in one house highly recommended well worth the money and beautiful views around

Beautiful, spacious property.

Really clean. Great for a family holiday, there were 12 of us & there was plenty of room, so you were not on top of each other. Only a few quibbles, it could do with a larger oven & more freezer space, plus it would benefit guests to have a tumble dryer. We did lots of outdoor activities & because the weather was unpredictable, we struggled to get items dried. All in all a fantastic house, would highly recommend

Fabulous property.

It catered for our party of 11 comfortably. It was spotlessly clean and it had all equipment in the kitchen that was needed. The property was decorated beautifully. Plenty of outside space for children to play safely. The games room, with the snooker table was ideal for young and old alike. Ideally situated for the Northern Lakes area.

Beautiful home, owners live next door but are very nice and don’t bother you so nothing bad about that, it’s located in a nice quiet area but shops are near so that’s great.

The house was great, very clean and tidy and has all usual items you would have in your own home to make your stay nice and easy

Accomodation above and beyond what we expected.

Pub and eating place within walking distance. So much beautiful scenery on days out. Cockermouth shopping very convenient, with lots of history about the Town. All in all a very enjoyable holiday.

This property was ideal for our multi-generational family gathering.

It was very well equipped and comfortable. It included plenty of toys and equipment for very small children. The broadband and TV worked very well. The outside area was excellent for sitting out and included a large grassy play area. The owners who live next door were very helpful. If anything, the property was better than the Sykes photos suggested.

A great place to stay and getaway from it all!

A lovely place with lots of room for everyone with plenty of space outside as well to sit and have a cup of tea or a bbq if the weather is good and a big garden for the kids to run around in and play games. Inside great to have a games room with a pool table and dart board as well as a good selection of DVDs to watch and books to read. Plenty of board games also provided to get everyone involved! Plenty of bedrooms with drawers and wardrobes to store everything in and a big living room/dining/kitchen open plan present with very comfortable sofas and dining area and kitchen well stocked with everything you can think of from cutlery/plates/mugs/glasses (for all types of drinks) to pots/pans/steamers/food processor/dishwasher/washing machine etc etc! A highly recommended place you wont be disappointed with and the owners live next door and will provide you with whatever you need and help out and are simply wonderful!! Book now without worrying about anything!!

Beautiful, large house with excellent facilities.

The huge, open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is a definite bonus for a large family gathering. The house looks out onto open countryside and the large garden was well used. The games room was also a definite asset and the kids (men included!) spent lots of time in there. The local pub/hotel, which is literally a few yards away, served excellent food, very reasonably priced. The owners (who live next door) were very friendly and helpful but completely respected our privacy.

An absolutely stunning house in a beautiful area, stayed in many houses via Sykes but this was the best by far for 6 adults and 3 children ranging in age.

Everything was catered for and everything you could possibly need was available in the house. It was spotless on arrival and the pictures dont give it the full justice as to how beautiful it really is! The owners were quick to reply to any questions prior to our visit and after an unfortunate car breakdown they were absolutely amazing in assisting us and couldn't have done more. We will be back to visit and thanks again for a lovely few days!

This was a beautiful, well equipped cottage, beautifully decorated in a beautiful area.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. We were there for 3 days and hardly left the cottage. The weather was nice enough for us to sit outside, plenty space for the children to run about and with the games room and loads of board games etc there was more than enough to keep everyone (adults and children) entertained. My self and my family had a fantastic stay at white gables for my husbands 50th birthday celebrations there was something for all the family to do my 4 grandsons absolutely loved the massive big garden and of course the games room was a hit with the whole family would definitely love to stay here again

Cheryl and Colin , the owners, who live next door, were very helpful and friendly.

White Gables is very easy to find from the directions supplied, being only a mile or so from the A66 but still having a lovely country feel.

There is loads of parking and the hosts, Colin and Cheryl, are lovely, helpful people. The house is brilliant for family groups with the games room giving a separate area for any children who are well-catered for with separate TV, video player, loads of DVD's, books and games. The dartboard and pool table were great attractions! The dining table seats ten with ease and extra bar-stools are nearby. With four different bathrooms/WC's, there are plenty of options for different sections of the party. A large selection of crockery, cutlery and really big saucepans enables catering on a mass scale to be easy. Lots of fridge space, a freezer and dishwasher were much appreciated. There is also plenty of outdoor seating in two separate areas, along with a good-sized grassed area which is very safe for small children. The weather during our stay wasn't brilliant at times but be aware that no rain = no lakes to see! Just assume that you may get wet at times, dress appropriately and enjoy. The rivers and streams in this part of the world are the cleanest I have ever seen and the air-quality is excellent too.

huge amount of space, everyone had space for time to themselves. Great location and the hosts were very friendly. I would recommend this place to all our friends and family.

The house was clean, modern and homely, there was plenty of space in the communal areas to sest us all comfortably and plenty of beds to accommodate our group.

The house was 100m from a local restaurant and very close to main roads into the Lake District NP. Fab stay would definitely reccomend.

Cheryl was so helpful and everywhere was spotless. I especially liked the amount of pots/pans in the kitchen more than enough for cooking for a large number of people. Lots of lovely bathrooms too (4) enough for everyone. Will definitely be returning :)

White Gables is a beautiful House set in a lovely location.

It doesn't have the 'Holiday Let' feeling at all - rather its very homely. The standard of decor, cleanliness, equipment etc was extremely high. We holiday each year (7 adults and 5 children) and this was definitely just right for us. Easy reach of main attractions and walks but very comfortable for just staying in with a great garden for the children to play in - even had toys and books !!

Fantastic break at White Gables!

Went away for a surprise 50th and everything exceeded expectations. The owners were very helpful, the cottage was beautiful and very well equipped. I would definitely stay at the cottage again and recommend it to others.

Fabulous weekend had by all, house was lovely and comfortable, perfect for a girls weekend of laughter.

The number of bedrooms and bathrooms helped our individual families to have their own routines yet be part of everything. The house is well equipped and the garden safe for the children. The owners were friendly and helpful. The location suited us well with many amenities, walks, lakes, and other places of interest just a short drive away. Can very happily recommend this accommodation.

Lovely house.

.. A bit TARDIS-like, seeming much bigger on the inside. Quiet location though the view could be better! Comfortable beds. It's a shame the two in the games room aren't proper beds as my 6'3" son didn't find his bed very comfortable. Talking of the games room, we all had great fun playing pool.. was a real treat having the table. Kitchen well equipped. Ample bathrooms and the showers were good. Good parking provision. There's a little garage shop about a mile down the road otherwise it's 4 to 5 miles to Workington for Asda or Tesco. About 5 miles to Maryport and South Allonby Bay which is a nice beach with a Roman fortlet and Anglon-Saxon saltpans to visit ( for free ) near Crosscanonby.

This place was fantastic, it was clean, and had all the things we needed for a great family holiday.

The owner was on site and so friendly. The decor was very modern , as a family we had an amazing time, the kids didn’t want to leave . It’s close to some amazing scenery, so wonderfully located. I’d definitely stay again

Made my 40th birthday more special as it was absolute luxury.

Definitely will be returning. The lady and gentleman that own it were wonderful, so friendly. Beautifully set in a sleepy little village, within a short walking distance to the pub. All my guests were thrilled with the house and we are already making plans to come back.

Fabulous place to stay, very comfortable, all needs catered for, especially if staying with children, would highly recommend it.
