    “Lovely house, only a couple of improvements I could think of - perhaps a mattress topper on the king size bed as a bit firm, and a soap dish / shelf in the twin room shower.”

Edencroft is an exceptional self-catering accommodation in the hamlet of Greystoke Gill, near the village of Greystoke, making an outstanding base for groups of up to six to enjoy this part of the country, renowned for its outdoor activities and historical landmarks.

At the end of each bracing day, look forward to returning to the refreshing embrace of this single-storey cottage.

High vaulted ceilings and characterful exposed beams frame the plush furnishings of the sitting room.

The chef of the group will be delighted by the light-filled kitchen, boasting an array of quality appliances and fixtures, certain to encourage a spot of home-cooking, including the dishwasher that will keep the kitchen clutter free, bliss!

From here you can access the games room which boasts a full size Table Tennis table where family nights in get competitive!

Regroup each evening within the formal dining room, where you can tuck into home-cooked dishes, make up for lost time with your loved ones or while away fun-filled hours playing cards brought from home.

Concluding the interior of the cottage are three elegantly-presented bedrooms, comprising of the master suite, boasting a super-king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom, another double bedroom with a plush king-size bed and a twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room, allowing for a flexible sleeping arrangement to suit all group types. To the exterior at Edencroft, you will find a beautiful front garden, where a bistro table is set amidst pretty flowers and shrubbery, as well as a rear terrace garden where you can enjoy the company of your loved ones over dinner alfresco at the six seater garden table and chairs, with a parasol for sunny days.

If you can tear yourself away from this exceptional holiday home, be sure to venture into the town centre of Penrith, which plays host to a superb array of shops, arcades and places to eat and drink, offering something for all tastes and requirements.

Whilst in town, be sure to brush up on the local history with a visit to the imposing ruins of the 1399 castle and the museum, where you can uncover the area’s history, geology and archaeology further.

Slightly further afield are a number of other historical attractions that all ages and tastes will love, including Arthur's Round Table, Mayburgh Henge and the Lowther Castle & Gardens, whilst twitchers will be impressed by the Lakeland Bird Of Prey Centre.

You can also take a visit to Ullswater which is just 4 miles away or visit Rheged Centre which is complete with shops, cafe and a cinema. The Lake District fells are sure to beckon the avid ramblers amongst us with the likes of Great Mell Fell, Blencathra and Skiddaw all located nearby, whilst the stunning Ullswater offers an award-winning streamer cruise, so that you can enjoy the lush vistas of Lakeland’s highest mountains at your leisure.

GREYSTOKE

Penrith 5 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

This charming village has a number of 17th Century cottages and is conveniently situated just 5 miles from Penrith. Set just on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park, only 5 miles from Ullswater and the numerous picturesque walks available make this a fabulous location for fans of the outdoors. Nearby, the popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the north of the Lake District and has plenty to offer, boasting numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering the Theatre on the Lake, a charming cinema, museum, indoor climbing wall and miniature golf. The area also steeped in history with a 10th century church in the village, lovely castle in Penrith and the stunning remains of Lowther Castle. Greystoke provides easy access to the spectacular Cumbrian countryside which can be explored by both car and on foot, and the southern Lakes, Eden Valley, Pennines Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall all within close proximity, making this a great location with plenty to see and do.
