Poppy Cottage

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Poppy Cottage.

It is in a great location. It's very a very well equipped and well maintained. The owners are very helpful and friendly.

Poppy Cottage is a beautiful cottage, in a great location, for the area around Ullswater .

The cottage had everything you would want for a comfortable stay and you had your own well manicured private garden to relax in . The hosts were so friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The furniture and decor was lovely and all Poppy themed . A little hidden gem that we will definitely be coming back to .

We had a lovely week at Poppy Cottage - my husband, our 1 year old and myself.

It was super cosy. There were so many lovely details and the cottage had everything we could need for the week. Val and her family were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely love to return.

Lovely cosy cottage.

Located just off the A66. Penrith 10 minutes one way Keswick 20 minutes the other. Farm shop and cafe 2 minute drive lovely breakfasts. Owners are very friendly and happy to tell you about the local area. Pooley bridge worth a visit nice pubs and boats rides on the lake.

A totally perfect stay, the house was lovely and warm, the shared wash room and allocated extra freezer space was a excellent facility.

the owners are really friendly and approachable, and gave us some really good tips on places to go and visit, ideal for us as it was our first time visiting Cumbria. Will happilly go back to this property again

Poppy Cottage is a cosy, idyllic little spot of tranquility in the North Lake District.

Val and Roger couldn’t do enough to help us and make us welcome. It’s a wonderful spot that is ideally located to explore the Late District, a clean, beautiful cpttage!

We found the owners very welcoming and helpful throughout.

Poppy Cottage is a great place to stay with everything you need for a self catering holiday.

Val and Roger are a lovely couple, friendly and welcoming. The property was light and airy and spotlessly clean. It is furnished to a high standard and very well equipped with ample space for two people. There is a secluded garden and allocated parking space. With lovely views and easy access to the LakeDistrict we thoroughly enjoyed our time at Poppy Cottage.

Great location and extremely quiet. Layout was fine after making some good decisions about where to put things. We spent the entire time in the Keswick area walking various hills and mountains. The cottage offered an ideal location for what we chose to do. Owners were attentive and friendly. We had no real issues with the cottage as it is well equipped and maintained. Thanks

Easy to access the Lake District from here as well as up to hadrians wall.

Perfect for our week in the Lake District.

We used the cottage as a base for playing golf in The Eden Valley golf tournament and visiting some of the sites in the area. Poppy Cottage provided all we required and a very friendly welcome from Roger and Val.

We always like looking for little cottage type properties when we go away and that's what we got!

!! Details and pictures online are very accurate. Poppy cottage has everything you need, feels cosy and was very clean. Very easy to find and in a great location for visiting surrounding well known places. The garden is private and spacious with bird feeders where we had a woodpecker visit everyday. We also had lambs in the field to the side which were lovely to watch. Roger popped round a couple of times and was very friendly and helpful. They made sure we had everything we needed as well as changes in towels, bedding etc. Even though we were amongst 3 cottages we never heard anything. Fantastic outbuilding with washer, dryer, airers, irons etc, but also big freezers where you can store food which was very helpful. Overall we loved this 14 night stay and would definitely recommend and will be booking again if visiting that area. Thanks guys, don't change anything, it was perfect x

Excellent stay at poppy cottage, I would highly recommend.

Would definitely stay again, I can't praiseVal and Roger enough they make you feel very welcome and on hand if you want them nothing is to much trouble. They make you feel that you have known them for ages. Poppy cottage has everything you need great view from the windows sheep grazing and birds on the feeders.

Ideal for two people and very comfortable. Roger and Val the owners only live next door and are very friendly and gave advice as needed. Would definitely visit again.

Poppy cottage was nice and clean and comfortable.

It is well placed to view the Lakes and other attractions nearby. We had bad weather but the cosiness of the cottage made up for that. There is everything you need in the cottage and is great for a couple to get away from cityscapes. There are wonderful views outside the window and many birds flock to the bird feeder outside the kitchen window. It's a great place to unwind. Val and Roger are nice and informative. They don't intrude on your stay if you want your privacy but are at hand if you need anything.

Poppy Cottage is great.

Situated just off the A66 giving good access to Ulswater, Penrith, Keswick & the Northern Fells. There is a very well equipped kitchen. On arrival, there was tea, coffee, biscuits, milk & juice waiting, a practical & thoughtful touch from the owners. Cosy lounge with a log burner that came set up ready for a nights fire. There was storage space for my bike. The owners live next door & were helpful on arrival. Excellent value, will stay again.

Poppy cottage was so lovely and comfortable,we were not far from places to go visit roger and val were very helpful nothing was a bother to them ,we will go back again we loved the wood burner I would recommend this cottage very highly

Lovely, clean and well equipped cottage in ideal position to visit the numerous places of interest/spectacular scenery of the Northern lake District.

A lovely cottage, well situated between Penrith and Keswick.

Well appointed and very cosy. It's lovely to watch the birds every day from the lounge and kitchen. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We hope to stay there again.

We were really pleased with our stay at Poppy Cottage.

It was a perfect property for two and its location made it an ideal base for exploring the lakes and surrounding countryside.

Every aspect of the cottage was first class with the owners pleasant and helpful.

Penrith/Keswick buses were willing to stop only 200yds from cottage making car free days easy. Seeing all those Herdwick sheep and lambs out of lounge and bedroom windows was a delight. A wonderful country retreat that we would love to return to. Many thanks to Val and Roger.

Had a really nice relaxing week,the location is perfect. Just off the A66 but you don't hear it.the cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay,it lovely and comfortable. The owners Roger and Val are very nice met them a few times while we stayed. Its got everything great views over the fields. We loved it that much we've booked again already.

Easy links to everywhere on the lakes, but despite being close to a A66 there was no noticeable noise. Owners were very welcoming and friendly. Spent hours watching the bird feeders which were very well used by the local wildlife. Would certainly recommend to anyone wanting a good base to explore the Lake District.

Private garden for sitting out. Comfy seating in lounge. A small but spacious cottage. Lovely friendly and helpful owners.

This was a lovely cottage the garden was lovely as it was east/west so sun all day and we also had very good weather.

The only thing I would comment on are the air fresheners in the kitchen and the lounge which to me were overpowering.

I spent 4 nights , it was wonderful cottage very quiet.

Rooms are spacious with private large garden . Kitchen has every things you want . Room has lovely viewing . Really Highly recommend . Roger and his family are helpful if we need anythings .

We had a wonderful stay at Poppy Cottage.

The cottage itself was perfect for our stay in a wet October. The wood burner made our evenings very cosy and the cottage was furnished for a home from home stay. The owners were on hand if needed but the property was also very private. The views of fields and private garden space perfect.

This was an excellent cottage - clean, warm, excellent facilities - nice warm shower, comfortable bed.

We would definitely stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful spacious character cottage.

It was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with everything we needed. We loved the open views of the fields with the sheep grazing and the private garden with patio area. The owners Roger and Val were very friendly and helpful and the welcome goodies were very much appreciated. It is in a great location with walks on the doorstep and only a short drive away from Keswick, Ulswater Lake, Pooley Bridge etc. This is the best cottage we have stayed in and would highly recommend.
