Swaledale Watch House Annexe

We had a great stay in the Swaledale Watchhouse.

We enjoyed sitting in the beautiful garden with idyllic view and peaceful atmosphere, as well as in the well equipped and comfortable cottage. Our charming and friendly hosts Tim and Andrea gave us a very warm welcome and provided us with a lot of useful touristical information. Thanks again, a very recommandable place to spend a holiday! Fantastic location, excellent inside - the superb shower should get a special mention, and great attentive hosts.

Andrea and Tim were superb hosts at this beautifully situated annexe to their property.

They were informative about the area and they advised us on lovely local walks. Further afield towns on the coast are easily accessible along with Carlisle Penrith and Keswick all around a 30 minute drive away. The annexe is very comfortable (especially the bed) and the kitchen was well equipped. A home from home. We will miss waking up to the amazing view and would love to return in the future.

We had a great stay at Swaledale Watch House Annexe and can thoroughly recommend it to anybody seeking a quiet location with a modern, clean, comfortable and well fitted house.

The hosts were very friendly and helpful with plenty of tips and even helped us out by washing, drying and folding several loads of washing accumulated over 4 weeks of travelling. We hope to have the chance to return some day,

Swaledale Watch House Annexe was a lovely home from home and we were made to feel very welcome as soon as we arrived.

Tim and Andrea were lovely hosts and were very knowledgeable about the area. Even the weather was on our side! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.

Stylish and cosy accommodation with spacious rooms, which were impeccably clean.

The location is perfect for walking into the village. Starry nights when clear skies make this a romantic and peaceful stay. Hosts are incredibly helpful and friendly. We will definitely return.

I had the most relaxing break in the Annex, the owners are lovely, the area is beautiful and peaceful.

A walk into the village is well worth it along the river. There are lots of lovely walks in the area, of 20-30 minutes drive. I was blessed with fabulous weather. The accommodation has everything you need, is quiet and peaceful. Thank you for a lovely week.

The property has everything you need for a cosy, comfortable break in a lovely location. The owners were very welcoming and the property is really well presented. The Annexe is furnished and decorated to a very high standard. Nice welcome pack on arrival. The view from the Lounge is great and the outside seating. I would highly recommend for a Northern Lakes Base. Nice local pub in Caldbeck excellent food and friendly staff. On our list we will return .

We really loved our holiday at Swaledale Watch House Annexe.

The property was everything we thought it would be and more!. Set in a beautiful surrounding with lovely views of the countryside and the wildlife. Tim and Andrea were the perfect hosts and made us feel welcome from the start. Probably THE BEST Sykes cottage that we've used so far.

I found “The Annex “ to be one of those gems you occasionally come across when renting holiday accommodation.

It has everything you might need with modern facilities. It is set in a quiet area of the northern Lake District but after a 30 minute drive you can be in Keswick, Penrith or Carlisle. The owners live close by to help with any issues and are welcoming but not intrusive. A n ideal location if you want to walk the Caldbeck fells and Skiddaw. 10/10

A lovely small holiday let which had everything needed for a very comfortable stay.

The Welcome Pack was a bonus, I hadn't expected - thank you! I loved the remote location which was ideally situated for walks on the Northern Fells. Lovely and quiet in the evenings. Very cozy and clean in a great quiet location.

Beautiful accommodation, clean, everything you need for a comfortable stay, loved location, walks from the door, we did a couple of these and also ventured further afield, love the Lake District area, nothing better than returning back to your accommodation after a day out , the whole stay made even better by our friendly welcoming hosts Tim and Andrea from start to finish, would recommend and would return 100%

A lovely week in a well equipped, very comfortable cottage which is perfectly situated with a beautiful outlook.

Our hosts Tim & Andrea were friendly, informative and helpful but never intrusive. Great walks from the doorstep. The mile walk along the river to Caldbeck is pretty and mostly flat with Dippers and Grey Wagtails bobbing along. Caldbeck has a couple of cafes, a local shop and a pub serving good food and even better ales. Would definitely recommend.

The Annexe at The Watch House is a lovely place to stay to explore the North Lakes.

The property is well furnished, well equipped, warm and very comfortable. The location is beautiful and peaceful with excellent walks and cycle rides available from the doorstep. The local village is close and has a good pub, cafe and small local shop. The host, Tim, is very hospitable and provides for every need. I would recommend staying here. You will be pleased with your choice.

Friendly owners provide a very comfortable, smart and well equipped property in walking distance of Caldbeck village (20 minute brisk walk).

The village has a friendly pub serving food along with a couple of very pleasant cafes. A short drive (or longer walk) takes you to Hesket Newmarket with the excellent Old Crown, one of the original community pubs, selling its own beer and home cooked food. Walks are available from the door and many others are only a short drive away, as is Keswick, which delivers further options along with the full shopping experience! The North Lakes feel less busy than their southern counterparts, while still deliverving beautiful contryside with great walking routes. Give them a try!

We stayed here for a short break Friday till Monday, the property it's self was great!

Better than described! It was super clean and fresh probably the cleanest property I have visited. The views from the bedroom and lounge are beautiful. The owners Tim and Andrea are so welcoming, friendly and approachable, nothing was too much! When we arrived it was snowing so the journey was a little rough on the lanes however, when we arrived Tim came out in the snow to make sure we were okay, They also had the Annex pre heated which was lovely to walk into with the cold snowy weather outside. I would also recommend this property if you are wanting to relax and recharge but also if you love walking there are some beautiful areas to explore. We will 100% be staying again and are already looking for dates :) Thank you so much Tim & Andrea! We look forward to coming back.

Me and my partner had a wonderful stay at Swaldale Watch annexe.

The place was very cosy, comfortable and modern. Cleanliness was good, the bed very comfy and came well equipped. Tim and Andrea were welcoming and approachable if we needed anything. I will miss waking up to the dawn chorus!

What an amazing place to stay, the owners were lovely, nothing was to much trouble, they helped with places to go, eat and walk, the annex is very clean, neat and up to date.

Everything you need to have an amazing stay would highly recommend and will 100% be coming back to stay again :)

A very cosy, clean and well maintained cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location. The owners, Tim and Andrea, could not have been more helpful - and the welcome pack of the essentials was great to have. The location is excellent with one of the best short walks that I've been on starting 50 yards from the front door and stunning panoramic views just a 3 minute drive. Easy access to the sea, the Lakes and Carlisle.

Cottage had everything you needed for short stay would have to say that this has got to be the cleanest cottage i have stayed in and by far the best shower ever

Lovely setting fantastic cottage great area

Had the most wonderful few days away at Swaledale Watch Annexe in Caldbeck.

The apartment is very clean and modern with everything you need to feel at home. Andrea and Tim do a fantastic job of making you feel welcome and ensuring your stay is comfortable. The local village is a short walk away and many of The Lake District’s top attractions are easily accessible when using the car. It’s a truly lovely location, very peaceful, beautiful views and great value for money. We’d definitely stay again.

Location - great Hosts - great Local pub food - great (the steak pie was absolutely superb!

) Within easy reach of all the natural beauty of the area, and lungs full of fresh clean air, I'd recommend Swaledale to anyone for a short break or longer stay - we were there only for two days but the accommodation was comfortable, clean, and well equipped so longer stays would be no problem. We'll likely be back in the area next year and will be hoping availability suits us!

Really enjoyable break, very relaxed, beautiful scenery on doorstep and a very unexpected, generous welcome hamper from the owners, who were outstanding at making us feel welcome and ensuring we were comfortable.

Me and my partner had the loveliest couple of days here, we saw Tim a couple of times who asked if everything was okay for us and told us about the walk into the village which was a stunning walk!

We were lucky to find this compact and perfect cottage annexe for our usual Lake District walking week.

The hosts were very attentive, and nothing was too much trouble.

An excellent holiday property, very comfortable, well equipped and having full central heating would be very snug in cold weather.

This was a great find!

Immaculately clean and very comfortable, we loved the views over the fells from both the lounge and bedroom windows and enjoyed watching the cows and sheep graze. The owners were very welcoming and gave us helpful information about the area. We especially loved the walk along the beck right from the door, with a delicious lunch at the other end. The surrounding area was very lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our visits to Keswick (Derwentwater) and Ullswater.
