“This is an absolutely beautiful spacious cottage in a fantastic location.”

Beautifully fitted out with a huge lounge, fabulous kitchen , beautiful bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms. It was a pleasure to stay here. The pre holiday communication with Ann Marie was fantastic and proved really helpful. We will definitely holiday here again. Highly recommend.

“This was our second stay at Lonsdale Cottage, we returned because of its very comfortable decor and excellent facilities, along with an excellent central village location, for shopping, eating out etc.”

Ann-Marie, the owner, is super helpful, sending information as to what’s happening in the area, as well as the standard stuff from Sykes . We recommend Lonsdale Cottage very highly and will certainly be back.

“Spotlessly clean cottage.”

Beds very comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay. Will probably return. Flagstones outside cottage very slippy! We had to be careful. Don’t think you can do anything but maybe a warning to users would be helpful. When I got out of the car I slipped on the surface.

The cottage is beautifully furnished and well-equipped, warm and extremely comfortable. We have no complaints or niggles regarding our stay. The car parking space is a godsend as the village is rightly popular. We highly recommend 'The Spice' Indian restaurant, cash only but cracking food and great value. All in all a great break in a wonderful cottage, in a picturesque village.

“We really loved Lonsdale Cottage as soon as we walked in the door.”

The weather was a little chilly outside but inside we were cosy and warm. The living room is great with the big picture window. The other rooms and fixtures and fittings are brilliant. We looked forward to our return after busy days out. The treats provided were gorgeous especially the chocolates hand made by a local shop. The walk down to the river and over the Devils Bridge is so beautiful it’s hard to drink it all in. Kirkby Lonsdale town is just so stunning. We just love it.

The photos don’t do it justice! Since Covid we have had many UK holidays and this property was one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. It was clean, very comfy and super cosy! It had everything we could have wished for and made for a very relaxing weeks holiday. Just a hop, skip and a jump down a gorgeous little lane and you were in the high street or a minutes walk and you were next to the river Lune. Yet the property was so quiet and once inside you felt that you were in the middle of nowhere! Amazing stay, we will be back.

Very well stocked and with luxury fittings and tasteful decor. A lovely little goodies hamper awaited us with a bottle of Prosecco. The owner was extremely helpful giving us tips about things to do in the area. The property in in an ideal location just off the main street of Kirkby Lonsdale within a minute or two of some lovely restaurants as well as easy access to the surrounding area. The weather wasn’t very good while we were there so I think we will be going back at some point to do some more serious walking and will be booking this cottage again.

KIRKBY LONSDALE

Kendal 9 miles.

An attractive market town, Kirkby Lonsdale is situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, midway between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. The town was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, and holds a 13th century Market Charter. Nowadays, Thursday is market day, a perfect opportunity for visitors to explore the variety of distinctive independent shops in the town, or the many 17th and 18th century buildings which still stand. The town was also a finalist for the High Street of the Year Award in 2016. This part of the Lune Valley was a favourite haunt of the artist Turner, and was made famous by Ruskin – his "view" of the valley is still spectacular. The medieval Devil’s Bridge spans the river, and the quiet country lanes are ideal for exploring by car, bike, or even horse. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, fishing and a variety of riverside and country walks, making the area an ideal location for a break, whatever time of year. When voting Kirkby Lonsdale as the ‘Best Place to Live in The North West’ in 2019, The Sunday Times commented it is “An unbeatable Lake District location, bags of community spirit and one of the cleanest high streets in the country".
