    “A most unique and wonderful accommodation.”

    It’s somewhat of a contradiction in terms - small, with just 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and an open plan kitchen/dining/longe, however, also large in that all the rooms are very spacious. In addition, it’s a little rustic with its lovely wood fittings but also luxurious as everything is to a high standard. It’s lakefront location on a private estate Is fantastic and so peaceful. The hosts are delightful and keen to please. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Lilymere Boat House is a beautiful lakeside cottage situated just outside of the historical town of Sedbergh.

With its stunning lake views and proximity to two national parks, this property makes for an ideal quiet escape for couples.

After spending the evening watching the sun set under the lake on the rear decking, head back inside to cook your favourite meal together in the fully-equipped kitchen, then enjoy it around the dining table set for two or by the gas stove effect fire as you watch a movie on the large Smart TV.

When sleep calls, unwind with a relaxing hot bath or shower in the bathroom, and slip under the freshly-washed linens of the super-king bed.

In the morning, make yourselves some breakfast and enjoy it either in the patio garden or on the rear decking as you watch the ducks float around the lake.

Lilymere Estate

Lilymere Estate consists of a stunning duo of lakeside cottages resting just outside of the lovely, historical village of Sedbergh. This collection offers 1,500 acres of private estate incorporating a 36 acre lake, woodland, moorland, cottages, boathouses and a main residence, and is situated between the Lake District National Park and Yorkshire Dales National Park, making them ideal bases for families, groups and couples seeking a countryside getaway with spectacular views. The surroundings enjoy hikes and walks for nature lovers as well as close proximity to a handful of local towns with several amenities. Head out to the market town of Kendal and treat your loved ones to some fine dining at The Greenhouse Restaurant or some alfresco, bistro-style eating at The Joshua Tree. History lovers will also enjoy visits to Kendal Museum, with its natural history collections, Abbot Hall, a fine art gallery in a Georgian mansion, and the 1200s ruins of Kendal Castle. Venture further afield to explore the beautiful and famous town of Windermere where you'll be able to take a dip in Lake Windermere when the weather allows, take a heritage boat trip along the lake at Windermere Jetty Museum, and enjoy some lakeside dining at Boardwalk Bar and Grill. Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
