Overview
You can sense the history in this luxurious and romantic Grasmere cottage, providing the perfect romantic retreat for a couple. Almost neighbour to the former home of William Wordsworth, Dove Holme Cottage is beautifully presented, displaying the most elegant of traditional features; adorning oak beams, woodburning fireplace and gorgeous modern bedroom.
The cottage has a cosy atmosphere for evenings in and special occasions, but is also only a few minutes' stroll from Grasmere's village centre for shops, restaurants and country pubs. Keen walkers will stride out straight from the doorstep, perhaps never needing to use the car, and will find the sleek modern shower room just right at the end of a long day.
Accommodation in detail
Traditional Lakeland porch leads into the cosy but bright lounge, with deep-cushioned sofas, character exposed beams, and a warm woodburning stove set in pretty Lakeland stone. The kitchen / dining room is well-equipped, and provides pleasant dining space for four. Upstairs to the romantic bedroom with a kingsize bed, and the sleek and luxurious shower room. There is a bench outside the cottage for coffee or drinks on sunny days.
Location
Only a stone's throw from William Wordsworth's Dove Cottage, this romantic Lake District self-catering property is nestled in a peaceful conservation area on the edges of Grasmere village, close to the pretty lake, but only a short stroll from shops, tea rooms and restaurants in Grasmere's village centre.
It's a perfect location for a romantic break in the Lake District and also provides easy access to no end of fabulous Lake District walks. Try the route up to Easedale Tarn in the fells above the village, visit the shores of nearby Rydal Water, or take on Fairfield, Silver How or Loughrigg to name but a few! The Langdale Pikes are accessible from the Langdale Valley, only a short drive away, and up the road at Thirlmere you'll find the start point for an ascent of Helvellyn.
Grasmere itself is well-served for self-catering in the Lake District, with lovely local shops and a vibrant market square. Drive a few miles to Ambleside along the A591, and you'll find a more cosmopolitan village centre with sophisticated shops, delis and acclaimed Lake District restaurants such as The Glass House. Don't forget to explore the wealth of excellent country gastropubs in the Lake District.

Reviews
Quality of equipment, sound system, decor, cleanliness and location was just superb. The location was very quiet with walks on your door step, also near to the lakes for sight seeing, shops etc. We were also able to take our small dog which was a bonus, obviously respectful of the cottage.S Mckenzie

Very good location of near quaint Grasmere with many great walks from your doorstep. The cottage is practically opposite the Wordsworth museum, therefore there are a few pedestrians outside the property in the day, however we visited in low season so this wasn't an issue. Overall would recommend!
