An immaculate, well-equipped, apartment furnished to a high standard in a fabulous location.

Newby Bridge is away from the hustle and bustle of the lake district towns but they are easily accessed by car, bus or the lakeside ferries and the two nearby hotels provide ample dinning opportunities - or just dine al fresco on the lovely balcony overlooking the river while watching the river-birds. Most highly recommended.

Absolutely buitifull property with a stunning view of the river leven, weather wasn't on our side but did not spoil it, will struggle to find a more attractive setting than this in the future, will definitely be booking for next year thank you

Riverside retreat ,is a stunning 1st floor apartment with a fantastic view from every window of the beautiful lake Leven.

The layout of the property is perfect ,everything was so easy to use and the best quality appliances we have ever seen in a holiday rental. We will certainly be back again. Anne ,Lee and Teddy

A fantastic stay in a superb cottage right on the edge of the river.

Everything has been catered for within the cottage. Set in a beautiful location in a stones throw ftom the Swan Hotel and Spa. Will definitely becoming back. A superb stay had by all.

Great property for a small family in a lovely location.

Walkable to two places for lunches or dinners and to boats to get out on the lake. Really enjoyed the riverside available to us once we got home after a days activities. Communication with Lakelovers is probably the only reason I would hesitate to book again. You wait days for an answer to any questions or your chat gets closed before they have even answered your request. This wasn’t helpful when needing to know where to put rubbish because there was not an outside bin or any instructions. The bin seemed to turn up three days after we arrived so it was ok in the end. I also wanted to report an issue with the dishwasher but couldn’t be bothered to go through the process. Unfortunately, the managing agency lets down the property which was a great place.

will definitely return. Beautiful location and facilities. Only drawbbacks 4pm is a late check in. particularly when it’s a 10am checkout and the housekeeping were waiting outside at 9.40am. 2/3 pm check in is usually standard and 11am checkout. freezer needs defrosting as the top tray won’t go back in. On the double bed there were lots of stains on the mattress protector. It definately needs a wash. Otherwise you have a lovely cottage . Many thanks

One of the best properties I have stayed in, everything is there that you need, the owners have thought of everything.

Beautifully put together the decor is lovely and the property lovely and clean. The property is also in a wonderful location with easy access to everything around, just a walk over the bridge to the Swan Hotel for a drink or bite to eat after a busy day. I can not recommend this property enough, lovely and considerate neighbours too.

Very well refurbished with high quality finishings and modern decor. We had a wonderful stay exploring the Sothern Lakes and would definitely come back.

Excellent place to stay.

We have previously stayed in the lower cottage which was great. This visit in the upper cottage was better as we had the patio decking. What a view

We came as a family of four to riverside retreat and it is no understatement to say that we left with great memories of the Lake District which were made perfect by the cottage.

Clean, attractive, comfortable and well thought out, in its layout. The view was exceptional and I would highly recommend a stay here.

We enjoyed our 2nd stay here!

Just a couple of things. We found the pillows far too hard, which was not the case first time. Having 2 softer ones that cater for everyone would have been better. Also on our first night we had to wash the oven shelf as it was really greasy and dirty. On Wed evening 23rd Oct it was obvious that a dog had been left alone in Riverside hideaway below us, as there was barking and whining for a good period of time. We knew from the info this was not allowed, and it was very annoying. We loved the location and walks.

Stunning property, georgous view, very clean and modern.

Has everything you need for a wonderful trip to the lakes. Pillows were abit hard, I prefer softer pillows but that just my personal preference.

Very well presented with everything you need.Very handy having some washing machine tablets/dishwasher tablets.The four of us had a comfortable stay and loved the big outdoor balcony area which was large for the apartment size

What a fantastic property!

This is our 4th time staying in this property and it is little haven. The property is always cleaned to the highest standard, the facilities are modern and well kept and all of the appliances are high quality and easy to use. It is in a fantastic location within a short drive of all the local towns, villages and attractions. Myself and my young family would love to return again and again… we love it here! I think the bathroom door handle and mirror light are not working as they should be but were not an issue for us so no complaints at all! Thank you ☺️

Excellent accommodation.

Only minor fault was the lack of side tables to put drinks / food on next to couch. Only one table between chair and couch. Apart from that the accommodation was extremely well appointed and comfortable. In all our years visiting the Lake District this has been the one of the best properties we have used

This is our second time staying at the riverside retreat and we absolutely love it!

It is immaculately clean when you arrive, so much so that I felt bad for leaving it with the throw strewn about the sofa after a cosy day on the couch! It’s so peaceful here, I just love it. We will definitely be back.

Wonderful property in idyllic surroundings

On first impressions of this apartment its great, plus we had been very lucky with the weather, fab views across the river and local wildlife, close to The Swan which is a vibrant hotel/pub for drinks and food, the apt was nicely designed with soft furnishings and modern kitchen and living space.

We had our dog with us who enjoyed relaxing on the deck and enjoying a swim in the river. But after a night staying you find peeling paint from the central column which dominates the living space, I assume its a chimney which is damp and needs work, which constantly peels, leaving paint on the surfaces, hob and floor etc. We had other issues which were reported via sykes at the end of the stay. We had an okay stay overall, but that was down to location and how easy it was to walk and drive to various places. I wouldn't stay here again.

This was a lovely base for our stay.

The flat had everything we wanted with space for our dog outside aswell.

Everything was just perfect we loved the views from the windows and the outdoor seating area was great. As a family we visit the Lake District every couple of weeks and wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Fantastic location , overlooking the river and bridge .

Cottage was lovely and had everything you need . Ideally situated to explore the southern lakes

We honeymooned at Riverside March 2023 and decided because it’s so nice to come back to celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary.

It’s fabulous and we will be going back as often as we can.

This was our 2nd stay at this property and we love it.

Already booked again for next year. Only negative is that advert states there is storage for a kayak. When we arrived (30 mins early) cleaners were still there and advised storage was full and we couldn’t use it. Didn’t spoil our stay but if you have anything requiring secure storage then this was not possible.

This is our second visit to Riverside This year.

Beautiful property and location

We were very concerned about the balustrade around the first floor terrace area.

We were staying with two architects who were confident that it does not comply with building regulations, having large gaps that a small child or dog could easily get through. The second bedroom is too small to be a double room, one side of the bed up against the wall with no sockets or bedside light. Having to climb over the end of the bed to get out at night is not ideal and certainly not for the price paid

Had a fantastic stay.

The cottage was lovely and very clean. Just a shame about the weather.

An absolute gem of an apartment.

The inside is stunning, immaculately clean and has everything you need including a nice little welcome pack. The outside terrace is beautiful and gets the sun all day. We were lucky enough to have sun everyday! The view is better than the photos and the access to the river fantastic. We swam and launched our paddle board from there every day. Would recommend taking the steam train to Lakeside and have lunch at the Lakeside hotel with its gorgeous views over Windermere. The Lakeside Lovers property team were fab. We decided on day 2 that we would like to stay an extra 2 nights and as the apartment wasn’t booked they sorted it out straight away! Would book again in a heart beat. Only thing I might add to make it even better would be some fairy lights and plants outside on the balcony but that’s just me being picky!

Tip top in all facilities

The property was just perfect very clean and everything we needed for our honeymoon break.

Lovely property, great location.

Second bedroom quite small for a double and could do with a chest of drawers as very little storage and nowhere to put make up ,jewellery etc.

Overall we were very happy with our stay, however if I was going to be critical I think that a separate toilette to the main bathroom would be good, also in the double room it is quite cramped making it very difficult to get out of bed if you are against the wall.

A bag of salt would have been useful to put on the steps leading up to the property as with having snow they were lethal

! So gorgeous the house & surroundings. Lovely walks near by . Had everything you needed. We didn’t want to leave! Definitely will come back . 10/10 .

First off we didnt realise it was 2 apartments , one upper and a lower one .

The view was good . Could not let the dog out on its own because theres other people and the dog could of got onto the road .. At one point a family came and had a picknick on the lawn sitting on the bench. God knows who they where , just someone passing i think . .. Not for me im sorry to say ..

absolutely loved it , the location is fantastic, as good as anything you could hope for , waking up to that view of the river was wonderful , which would be even better during the summer months , when i would imagine breakfast on the terrace would be a must , as it would be for any meals in on an evening,dont want to cook ,you dont have to drive the swan, its 100 yards away , we had a really great meal sunday at the swan , but you must book in advance , gets very busy , the occasional steam train chugging past was nice as well .

The cottage was modern and tastefully decorated and very clean and had everything we needed. the only thing i could knock it for would be size , its a little snug for our family of 4 and a big dog, and it has no walled garden for dog safety , but you can walk your dog from the door , we were aware of all that before booking , and it didnt spoil our stay at all . great base for the whole lake district and local family activities , me and my eldest son and dog walked up scafell pike on Saturday , which is a bit of a trek to get to, but well worth it , also Coniston , Windermere, ambleside are close , even Langdale , Ullswater , Keswick , Hawkshead , the whole lot drivable in an hour , and Ulverston just up the road has a number of good pubs for food as well . there are things without driving at all as well , my Mrs. and my youngest went on the steam train Saturday , the stations only 200 yards and takes you up to lakeside , the bottom of windermere , you can get a boat from there into windermere if you want , they didnt do that spent time in the aquarium at lakeside instead , theres other familly stuff not far away too , south lakes zoo , rohanhead beach , a bit hard to find(search it up ) , but well worth it , on a sunny day a great beach , unusual for cumbria , theres no other beaches in England with a mountain view quite like that . long and short of it , we loved it and are looking at dates to return next year , we love the lakes , we used to own a property in the northern lakes near lake Ullswater , was great to explore a more southerly aspect just one other thing , would be great if you could leave a vac out , our dog was shedding hair at the time of this break , and we would of liked to clean up after her better , cant do it with a brush , we felt a bit guilty on leaving

When booked no mention of being apartments, I have mobility issues and struggled using the stairs.

Opening of the door was horrendous as no room to Manöver. My dog got out onto roof through the fencing. Not dog friendly at all. I was very dissapointed with this booking, no extra refuse bags no welcome pack. Just tea and coffee and water. Compared to other places is is the worst I have stayed in.the only good thing I enjoyed was the view from my window over the river. People with mobility issues should be told ,not when your getting the keycode number.

Lovely place by the river

If I start with the negative and finish on positive, the property was offered with storage and was told a key would be inside, but on contacting the company that I couldn't find the key I was then told the garage would not be available.

Inside it didn't take long to see the cleaning had been rushed with some food on the floor by the breakfast bar and rug. But the property is nice and cosy and can see it has been refurbished recently. Lovely balcony and views, although the annoying outside light was going on and off all night.

What a fantastic stay we had… this is the second time we have stayed upstairs in this property and we have also stayed once in the downstairs.

The cleanliness of the property was outstanding and everything we could have needed was provided for us. Everything is lovely and modern and the beds are very comfortable. We had a small issue with the main tv when we first arrived and we phoned up (due to having young children) and it was fixed within the same day. The kind gentleman who brought the tv also loaned us some fishing nets for the river for the kids. The property is peaceful and tranquil and the river directly next to it is brimming with wildlife. The location is perfect for travelling about the lakes and we found plenty new things to discover. We have had such a memorable stay and will definitely book again to stay in the future! Thank you

Amazing week in this beautiful cottage.

We spent our time outside for most as we were blessed with the sunshine. Great access to Windermere. We enjoyed our early morning paddle board up the river and our evening swims in the river. The property was well equipped. Locals are nice and friendly. Good access to other parts of the lake and a nice walk to High Dam Tarn.

Absolutely stunning location!

The cottage was in a perfect location close by to lots of amenities. It was very clean and modern with lovely nice touches added. It was great to see the steam train passing by just over the river which is very close by. Our youngest son even tried out paddleboarding which was available on the lake just outside the Swan Hotel. We would without doubt recommend this cottage but the only downside to it was that it didn't describe thoroughly enough that the cottage is infact upstairs and not via the ground floor of which my disabled husband found difficult at times in getting up and down the outside stairs. Many thanks for a lovely welcoming stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Riverside Retreat.

We especially loved the outside decking area, which was a great place to relax and watch the swans, geese and ducks paddling about on the river. The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, it has everything you could possibly need for a short stay. We would highly recommend this lovely cottage and will be staying here again!

Lovely property located next to the River Leven.

The Retreat has just about everything you could ask for - with a touch of the deluxe. Everything you look at and touch is top quality. Bosch kitchen accessories, new crockery and cutlery, comfortable furniture and all spotlessly maintained and clean. You really can't fault anything. We enjoyed sitting on the fully furnished deck outside just watching the river flow by. If you want a holiday in the South Lakes this is THE place - close to the Lakeland Pier for Steamer trips up Windermere, the Bobbin Mill and the Motor Museum. Fantastic holiday

We really enjoyed our stay, very comfortable.

We were unfortunate with the weather, we were attracted to this property mainly because of the outdoor seating area, which we were unable to enjoy due to rain,

We have visited the area many times when visiting family, this however, is by far the loveliest place we have stayed in this area.

Especially when considering the property is dog friendly this property was absolutely immaculate. The cleanliness was hugely appreciated after a long journey. Everything had been thought about, all amenities were there, so I didn't need the cleaning products, loo roll, tea towels etc that we always pack. Beds and bedding extremely comfortable. Beautiful location, stunning property, we will return as soon as we can. Thank you for all of your hardwork that clearly goes into keeping the property so lovely for guests.

Lovely cottage with nice views, good location

We have stayed here several times as it is so good.

The property was, as usual, immaculately clean and well presented. The new kitchen and bathroom since we last stayed have improved the property nicely. Thank you for another lovely and very relaxing holiday.

This is a lovely clean, modern property with everything you could need for a great stay.

The tea/coffee/water supplied was a nice touch. Close to the The Swan Inn where the food was delicious. Worth noting that the kitchen and bathroom have recently been modernised and are both gorgeous so the pics need updating. Would definitely stay again.

Absolutely amazing place for a short break.

Very clean and well maintained property. They got everything needed. Amazing view from the property, especially.river and forest. Most of the attractions are nearby too. Highly recommended this place.

This property is idyllic.

Although only small it’s very cosy, beautifully presented with everything you need. The terrace with garden furniture would be ideal on a warm sunny day. The view from the window of the River Leven is amazing. There are two pubs within 2 mins walking distance, The Swan Spa and Hotel and The Huntsman which are dog friendly, very welcoming and serve lovely food.

Absolutely lovely

The retreat was absolutely gorgeous.

They even set up a Christmas tree and fairy lights around the property which made it an even more special stay. The place is cosy, the beds are super comfy and the view of the lake and the geese is great. Will definitely be visiting again and definitely recommend going.

We had a very enjoyable stay over the weekend.

I think leaving some sponges or something similar to wash up/clean with could be a good addition to the accomdation. The rooms were comfy, albeit a little warm on the first night (so we did adjust the heating thereafter). The only thing which wasn’t the best, was the strength of the shower. It wasn’t very strong at all. However, we would definitely recommend to other and would book again in the future.

This cottage was perfect!

There wasn’t one thing to fault and we would 100% want to return. Everywhere was clean and probably better than the actual pictures. The setting was beautiful as well, so peaceful by the river.

The apartment is located right on the river.

Such a beautiful area, very quiet, and just a 2 min walk across the bridge to the swan pub. We found it very clean, and extremely comfortable (especially the beds) The view from the balcony/decking was stunning and very relaxing. The TV has netflix and PRIME so you just need to log into your account. There was every cooking utensil imaginable, the oven functional, so perfect for eating in (when the weather was too cold to sit outside in pub restaurants). The only thing I would say, is that we found the electric shower to be either boiling hot or freezing cold. It took a good few minutes to get the setting correct, and even then it was lukewarm a couple of times. I think for future visitors, this is the only thing that should probably be addressed. Everything else was amazing, and well worth the stay.

We were extremely surprised when we arrived at the property just how nice it was.

The pictures shown on the booking site do not do it justice. Brilliant location, nice and quiet with the river on the doorstep. We will certainly be returning again in the nicer weather to hopefully make use of the outdoor area.
