From here guests enjoy a quiet and cosy cottage, ideally located for exploring the Lake District.

Whether it is the challenge of bagging Scarfell Pike, cycling in Grizedale Forest or taking in the realm of Beatrix Potter, which lies on this side of Windermere, Gingerbread Cottage is in the perfect location.  Enjoy the charm of this beautiful cottage, with woodburner, window seats, mahogany Macintosh dressing room, low ceilings and beautiful wooden beams that all tell of stories of yesteryear.  A 1 minute walk from your cottage and you can explore the unique stories that this tiny and ancient hamlet holds: discover original letters and illustrations at The Beatrix Potter Gallery, find Ann Tyson’s cottage where William Wordsworth lodged whilst attending the historic Hawkshead Grammar School. For a peaceful fishing holiday the nearby Esthwaite Water is perfect and wonderful for a quite romantic stroll too.

4. Honey Cottage, Ambleside

A characterful 17th century cottage conveniently located in the heart of Ambleside, where we urge you to head through the sitting and dining rooms to throw open the French doors onto a secure cottage garden. Honey cottage is a sweetheart of a cottage, where it is not just the garden butterflies and bees that are attracted to its warmth and charm.

On sunny spring days a coffee and a good book whilst pooch takes in the sunshine and new spring scents from this delightful garden is a real bonus. Then, as relaxed as can be, open your front door and stroll into Ambleside centre, where you have world-class dinning, art-house cinema Zeffirelli’s, the superb Armitt Gallery and Museum, Hayes Garden World and lots of independent shops.

A visit to the quirky Bridge House over the River Rothay and up into the woods to see Stock Ghyll Force is as relaxing as can be. Everything that you need is right on your doorstep during your stay at Honey Cottage. You can even explore more of the Lakes by enjoying a relaxing jaunt with Windermere Lake Cruise at Waterhead Pier. Ambleside on Lake Windermere is a tranquil place to visit in the spring, with the spring sunshine sparkling off the water and the shoreside a wonderful verdant green.

5. Jasmine Cottage, Bowness

Hop on-board a ferry or steam cruise to enjoy the quieter western shore of Lake Windermere, which is particularly nice for cycling. The Windermere Lake Cruise piers of Wray Castle and Brockhole are great places to head to with kids. For adult fun Windermere Golf Club is nearby and Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House, is a must-see. Returning back to the peace and quiet of Jasmine Cottage you’ll want to throw open the patio doors, as guests enjoy the sun trap terrace leading from the cosy family dining/living area, with wood burner and open fire, books, games and WiFi – heavenly for some well-deserved r & r time.
