“The cottage was really cosy, very clean and great location for a few days break in the lakes.”

The kitchen was well equipped for us to cook in a couple of times. the bed was also very comfortable. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and will be back.

“A very clean and comfortable cottage set in an ideal location for walking and travelling around.”

Two pubs and a shop nearby. Minor issues only one bath towel and one handtowel each for a weeks stay. Heated towel rail did not seem to work. Car parking very tight for this property.

“Great place to stay.”

Braithwaite is a lovely location. Cottage was comfortable and had everything needed. Few minor things need attention: curtain rail end stop in lounge, shower sometimes starts dripping, toilet flush needs pressing a second time to stop running.

“An immaculate property in a lovely quiet village.”

Light and spacious bedroom and living rooms. Comfortable bed and sofas. Small but well equipped kitchen. Parking is tight to get into but doable even with a Ford Galaxy! Would 100% recommend. Thank you for a great stay.

“The cottage is in a lovely courtyard right in the heart of the village.”

It has great facilities including access to a drying and laundry room next door and the owners were very friendly and helpful. Will be booking again.

“Parking is awful and problematical with a very narrow entrance.”

Kitchen is tiny and equipment only just adequate. Small fridge and no freezer except small icebox. No dishwasher. Otherwise comfortable lounge, bedroom and dining area, all good for two. Good TV and wifi. Helpful staff on complex. Lovely area and village. Fairly expensive for what it was but then what did I expect for the Lakes in school holidays - handy given family staying in campsite opposite.

“Fabulous location.”

Kitchen area small but manageable; we took it in turns to cook as not enough room for two! Comfortable lounge area and bed. I would definitely stay here again!

“Lovely little cottage, good facilities, very close to the pub, quiet at night.”

Close to local attractions including Derwentwater, Whinlatter forest and Keswick town centre. The cottage had a cosy and comfy feel. The shower was powerful and nice to use after a long walk in the rainy Lake District hills. The only thing to note is that the parking is tight however as there is an allocated parking space it is manageable.

Old Farmhouse Mews, Cumbria

Nestled right in the heart of Braithewaite village in a stunning region of Cumbria, surrounded by towering fells waiting to be climbed, Old Farmhouse Mews offers a wonderful collection of accommodation for large groups. Each is wonderfully appointed with plenty of space to unwind with your loved ones after an adventure in the local area. You can return to cook up tasty meals in the kitchen and get together around the dining table, before relaxing into your evening and making the most of an idyllic setting. Outside there is a communal yard with seating for you to sit out and soak up a warm summer's afternoon with a drink, and there is plenty of parking for several cars. Braithwaite is a very desirable village, with three good pubs, one which has been runner up for several years for CAMRAs prestigious pub of the year award, along with a village shop serving freshly baked bread and other produce. From the village are many fell walks, including the Coledale Round, offering an awe-inspiring trail through a classic u-shaped valley with stunning views and not a walk to be taken lightly. The Whinlatter Visitors Centre is close by and is great for children, with a tea room hosting a balcony for viewing red squirrels and woodland birds, an outdoor play area, mountain bike trail and several paths to explore around the forest. Venture across to Keswick for numerous shops and restaurants, as well as a visit to the Derwent Pencil Museum, Keswick Museum and Art Gallery and the famous Theatre by the Lake. There is also miniature golf, excellent parks, a climbing wall, and opportunities for fishing and mountain biking, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the Borrowdale Valley is not to be missed or is the Castlerigg Stone Corcle, thought to be 5000 years old. Between the magnificent northern lakes of Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite, lies the village of Braithwaite. Still retaining much of its traditional appeal, the Coledale Beck runs through the village with whitewashed Lakeland cottages, two village shops and two real ale Inns each brimming with character! Between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit. From a gentle countryside ramble to a challenging hike up Skiddaw, there really is something for everyone. Visit Mirehouse, a grand house and gardens on the shores of the lake with an open-air theatre, or take a trip around the lake.
