Tithe Cottage

Tithe Cottage is very comfortable and well equipped with friendly, helpful owners.

It is well situated for walking the Northern hills of the Lake District. We would thoroughly recommend it as a base for exploring the Lakes.

Tithe Cottage is a fantastic property all around: comfortable beds, well-proportioned rooms, easy parking and all of the bits and pieces that you require for a successful holiday.

The heating set-up worked well, and we were toasty during a cold snap. Stunning hikes surrounded the property (we drove to some 15-25 minutes away), and the town was less than 10 minutes away by car. We loved every moment of our stay at Tithe Cottage and would be very happy to return to it, and hope to do so in the future.

The cottage had everything we needed and was a perfect base for exploring the western lakes.

As a whole we found our stay to be enjoyable and comfortable.

However, for us, there were just a couple of niggling points that I would like to bring to your attention. Firstly, the shower head in the downstairs bathroom is fairly corroded with a constant leak from the shower hose joint. Nothing too serious obviously, but it somewhat spoiled the overall feel of what is a nice bathroom. On the up side, the water pressure for the shower is excellent so it was most enjoyable. Secondly, we were slightly disappointed with the communal area. The way it was portrayed in the advert led us to believe that it would be a place to sit just outside the front of the house. With two children, we didn’t really want to be separated from them whilst we were sitting in the grassed area. Again, nothing serious, but we felt that the wording of the advert could have been a little more accurate. All in all, we found our stay to be comfortable and enjoyable with enough facilities in the house to cater for our needs. The cat was very sweet and an added bonus!

Superb location off the beaten track, but still close to the beautiful western lakes. Clean, comfortable and so quiet. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful throughout. Thank you for such a relaxing and enjoyable few days

Great location for peace and solitude and off the tourist radar with easy access to the less visited Western lakes.

Lovely cottage too. A very tiny thing: it would have been good to have had dish washer capsules on hand. Otherwise great place.

We enjoy cooking meals as a way to save money and tailor meals to our needs, and that's one reason we choose to stay in a self-catering cottage.

With that in mind, here are a few items that would be helpful to have in the kitchen in Tithe Cottage: ice cube trays to make ice for drinks (i.e. gin and tonic); a hand whisk for beating eggs; lids for the skillets (to keep splatters to a minimum.) Additionally, one of the skillets needs replacing, as the non-stick coating is peeling off. A new spatula (turner) would also be helpful, as the one currently there is very worn and quite small. These are simply suggestions that would enhance the kitchen for your guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in your lovely cottage!

A lovely cottage .

.. very peaceful but with good connections to the northern lakes and Cumbria coast. Ideal for a multi generational holiday. Well equipped with good facilities. Only downside was poor WiFi but to be expected so far off the beaten track. We would stay again.

It should be made clearer that the garden is not directly accessible from the house and is in fact some distance away.

As the weather was not great this didn't really affect us but would have been very disappointing on sunny days

Such a super location, tucked away with very pretty views.

The cottage was lovely.

Felt very relaxed and comfortable. Lovely quiet area but handy for walks and for Cockermouth. Sykes as an agency left a lot to be desired. Very unhelpful when covid struck. I would consider booking the cottage again but not through this agency.

Perfect for our group of 6. Had a great week and even saw the sun a few times. Would definitely stay again.

The lovely owners left us a pint of milk , some tea and coffee and some lovely biscuits on our arrival , a lovely touch .

Lovely cottage in very rural location.

Easy access to the North Western lake district. Warm and cosy with good self catering facilities. I would say that some parts of the cottage are in need of update, the sofas are worn and the beds are not comfortable, the double bed especially was like sleeping on a plank of wood. Apart from that it was an enjoyable week.

A surprisingly spacious, characterful and comfortable cottage, in an unspoilt corner of the lakes.

Very convenient for fabulous walking destinations. Rolf and Anghie were very friendly hosts, and we were greeted with a very thoughtful welcome pack, with fresh daffodils!
