Enter the property into the open-plan living room to discover a well-equipped kitchen, filled with all the integrated appliances you'll need during your self-catered stay; here you can prepare delicious meals that can be enjoyed at the breakfast bar or around the dining table, which is nestle in the alcove beside the seating area, where you can retreat to in the evenings and curl up on the sofa in front of the warming electric fire with your favourite show on the TV. Venture up the carpeted staircase to find the two inviting bedrooms; a master king-size boasts wonderful river views and a spacious twin has a cupboard for hanging your belongings, both of which are served by the lovely family bathroom, styled with monochrome tiles and hardwood floor, offering a bath with shower over. Spend time in the enclosed courtyard garden, which overlooks the river, as you enjoy your morning coffee, before making your way into the centre of town to find a good selection of shops for grabbing any food items or essentials, along with pubs and restaurants for when you don't feel like cooking. You are within walking distance of some excellent attractions, including Wordsworth House and Gardens, the National Trust-owned, Grade I listed, former home of the poet, which showcases art exhibitions and is presented in a way that would be true to how it looked when Wordsworth and his family lived there. The 12th century, Grade I listed Cockermouth Castle is set within immaculate landscaped gardens, and is well worth paying a visit to for anyone wanting to learn more about the town's history. Enjoy excellent walking opportunities from the doorstep, with circular walks around the River Derwent available, and why not head to Jennings Brewery to sample some delicious beers and learn about the history of the brewery, which has been operating for nearly 200 years? You are well-placed for exploring the northern lakes of the Lake District National Park, with Dewentwater, Bassenthwaite Lake and Buttermere all within easy reach and offering great opportunities for walking, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Keswick is within 15 miles and offers a plethora of shops and pubs, as well as a theatre and fascinating pencil museum, while also providing easy access to the fells of Skiddaw and Blencathra, where you can take on challenging hikes and be rewarded with remarkable scenery. River View 2 Bridge Street is a wonderful home away from home for keen adventures ready to explore the Lake District.

About the location

COCKERMOUTH

Bassenthwaite Lake 7 miles; Keswick 13 miles.

The small country market town of Cockermouth is situated in the quiet north-western part of the Lake District, a largely undiscovered and unspoilt area, yet only 13 miles from Keswick. The town is famous as the birthplace of both William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and Wordsworth’s Georgian family home, on the main street, is now a popular visitor attraction, owned by the National Trust. Cockermouth offers a good variety of shops, pubs and places to eat, but (of course) the main attraction of the area is the beautiful scenery and excellent walking in the northern lakes – Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water and Derwent Water.

Please note : The spa passes are for an external spa Armathwaite Hall 7 miles away.
