“Lovely accommodation with great views of Skiddaw.”

Beautiful surroundings with a footpath behind the property to Thornthwaite and into Whinlatter. Close enough to Keswick for its amenities but distant enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of the area. Car parking close to the property but at the bottom of steps / and an incline, but the drop off / pick up of luggage is possible at the RHS end of the patio area, by keeping to the RHS of the drive as you approach the Hall. In answer to a number of reviewers' questions about bins - the bins are ...

In answer to a number of reviewers' questions about bins - the bins are behind the wooden fence that you can see at the car park area for no 5. A huge thank you to all at Sykes Cottages who managed to find and post back a book left by my husband and for organising the delivery of towels that were missing from the property on our arrival.

“Lovely property and spacious rooms.”

Bathrooms grout needs cleaning and some function on the oven don’t work. The outside porch needs a good clean as lots of insects are gathering. Otherwise a nice stay.

“My third stay at 5 Ladstock Hall.”

I've been drawn back by the scenery, the size/space and comfort of this property and the heating is so easy to control, if needed. Bed super comfy and winter-thick duvet Still no appliance instructions left from the owners and no wifi code if you're taking someone new who doesn't already have it - needs quick call to Sykes. As other people have already mentioned, the en-suite tiling really does need redoing, its looking shabby, but the shower itself is perfect. Only instructions left are regarding where the outside bins are but no one in any of the properties knows where the "fence to the right of the drive" is so can't find the bins behind it. So apologies again for having to leave this bagged up for cleaners which I hate doing. A map showing exactly where the bins should be would be a good idea. I adore this place but a warning for others with mobility issues, it is up a very steep incline which has steps as an alternative if you are ok with those. I have suggested before that a disabled blue/badge parking space up top would be a great idea. Highly recommended - if you can manage the slope.

“Pros- was lovely and clean.”

Had everything we could need . The bedrooms were cosy and beds comftable. The shower was amazing in onsuite very powerfull although slight mould but nothing majour.bathrooms were nice and clean.towels provided and bedding. Sofa was reclining so that was nice to relax. Great location, great walks from back of the building up the mountain passed waterfalls and streams up into forest. Cons- couldn't get oven to work so had to use the grill. Had some issues with boiler pressure was very low and was making loud noises but sykes got somond out quickly and was sorted out. I would stay here again .

Very comfortable. Well appointed. Good quality furnishings, bedding and towels. Comfortable bed. Has all we need. Great location as away from the busy places but easy to get into Keswick and surrounding areas.

“I love this property, its an absolute gem, and will be booking a third stay next year.”

There is nothing really to fault except there are still no instruction books or notes for renters at all. The double bed is super comfy and has a fabulous warm duvet for a good night's sleep. The spacious, clean, well equipped interior is to die for and the views are stunning, even on a rainy day. The steep hill and/or the steps from the car park to the property is much too steep for me so I do hope the owner does not mind me parking up at the top using my blue badge if there is space up there. Love it, and have already recommended it to family and friends.

“We enjoyed the stay.”

The property is very spacious and well presented. The views are lovely. Plenty of hot water on demand. Possible improvements to consider: Provide lighter weight quilts in the hot weather, provide a mirror on the main road at the bottom of the drive,; it was quite dangerous getting out onto the road from the drive.

“It's a lovely property, well set out with amazing view.”

We had a nice time. But a number of issues that need addressing soon otherwise a very nice property will end up been a dump. There was a lot of mould in the showers and they just didn't dry out. Showers were old and falling apart, shower head would not stay up Shower drain was blocked with hair (pretty disgusting that we had to unblock this to prevent flooding, it just hadn't been cleaned) Need to clean under the sofas. There is a lot of rubbish and mouldy old food under them if you pop out the leg rests. Dishwasher and washing machine are both old and worn out. Fridge door seems like it's on its way out. Limited plug sockets, still had some of the old (pre 1962) sockets...need to get round to swooping these out!

“Lovely stay to attend the Keswick Convention.”

Very roomy and definitely comfy. Stunning view for our morning coffee on the patio. Bring own cafetière! Had a slight cooker switch issue, our fault and managed to stop Sykes engineer coming out just in time - excellent customer service team. Good walking options from back path. Would come again.

“Great location either to drive to different starting points for walks or take the bus to Keswick with the bus stop just a couple of minutes walk.”

Accommodation was clean, spacious and modern. Ideal set up for walkers to take off muddy boots without messing up the hallway. We were lucky with the weather and made full use of the seating area outside or if there was a shower there is an undercover area to seat out as well. The views were amazing. Not a negative, but just for information is to bring everything you need with you, eg salt, pepper, foil, that type of thing. It was a missing a cafetière which would have been nice as we do like our coffee. A welcome pack would have been nice too but overall a great place to stay and would definitely go back if in the area.

“Lovely comfortable accommodation with amazing view.”

For future guest information would point out take all your condiments, tea coffee sugar milk and all your everyday essentials as nothing provided. There was 3 dishwasher and 4 laundry tablets hand-wash and toilet rolls. This shouldn't put you off going but better to know beforehand.

“The property was lovely with great views.”

Would have liked a welcome booklet with details of wifi , heating etc. the property was clean apart from the oven which was covered in fat and filled the room with smoke when we put it on. The fan oven part didn’t heat up. Also a t towel was left under the dishwasher tablets that was stained beyond belief. Was report to Sykes but was told was left there in error. !!

“The property was as we remembered, it would have been nice if there had been some heating on to welcome us, it was freezing!”

A disappointment was also being without Wi-Fi for the whole visit, seems as though it was a local fault that they were trying to fix, but it was a miss. These things aside, the property is very well equipped and the beds are very comfy, one thing though, in the twin room the boiler is in the bedroom cupboard, and when heating kicked in, it was noisy.

“We found 5 Ladstock Hall to be all we wanted and more.”

It is a very well appointed place. Everything was good quality and had a luxury feel. Bedding and towels lovely. The bed was super comfortable. The rooms are warm and airy. ( visited in December) It is set in wonderful grounds that help you relax and escape. A wonderful space with great views. We walked from the property up into the woods which are magical. Another day over to Keswick and all it has to offer. Thank you. We hope to come back again.

“Great property in a great location.”

Very spacious and comfortable all round with outstanding views. Only let down by what seems to be a lazy and lax approach to customers from “owner” ie: a token welcome file with local, relevant and important information would have been nice. No previous customer recommended eateries or walks from “here”. No emergency contact numbers docs/dentist or taxis/ buses. Not even a convenient wi-fi code. We can glean information from Google etc but it’s nice to feel welcomed and appreciated. Would still recommend.

“We recently stayed in 5 Ladstock Hall for 9 days and used the base for exploring the Lake District and a climb of Scafell Pike.”

The property was exactly as described online and was very well stocked with all the essentials for a comfortable stay. Although about 3 miles outside Keswick,we would recommend the location as an ideal base to explore the lovely surrounding area and beyond.

5 Ladstock Hall is a duplex apartment furnished and equipped throughout to high standard offering open plan living with places to relax, dine and prepare meals together in the same space.

Two attractive bedrooms, one kingsize with ensuite and a twin.

Thornthwaite lies to the West of Keswick, close to Bassenthwaite lake.

This area is great for hiking in the fells, mountain biking and activities on the lake.

Braithwaite, just over half a miles walk has a restaurant, pubs and a village shop.

Bassenthwaite 7 miles, Ullswater 16.6 miles; Cockermouth 13 miles.

The popular town of Keswick is the holiday centre of the North of the Lake District and has plenty to offer the visitor at any time of year. The town boasts numerous shops and restaurants to suit all tastes, as well as offering miniature golf, excellent parks, the famous Theatre by the Lake, a charming cinema, the Pencil Museum, a climbing wall, fishing and great mountain biking opportunities, whilst the beautiful lake of Derwentwater at the head of the stunning Borrowdale Valley is only a few minutes walk from the town centre. Nearby, between Braithwaite and Buttermere is the beautiful Newlands Valley, while picturesque Bassenthwaite Lake is well worth a visit.
