    “This is the third time staying at the cottage and I love the location, it’s very cosy & comfortable.”

    The kitchen could do with an upgrade of utensils, glasses, kettle etc. It’s a shame there wasn’t any wood & kindling just for the first night. I also think during the winter months the check in time should be earlier so it’s light when you arrive. I thinks it’s reasonable to have check in & out the same as a hotel 3pm and 11am.

Resting deep within the magnificent Lake District National Park, in the idyllic village of Thornthwaite, you will find the picturesque cottage of Woodside with it's pretty garden.

Boasting stupendous views and lovely decor, this cosy countryside cottage offers a wonderful setting for a rural retreat for a family of four.

Place a log onto the traditional woodburning stove that rests peacefully within the striking inglenook fireplace, as you settle down on the stylish neutral sofa with a warm cup of tea and scan the channels on the flat-screen TV for your favourite shows.

Spend the afternoon in the attractive farmhouse kitchen, baking some tasty treats with the children for all to delight in as you gather at the rustic wood dining table.

While away the hour as you indulge in some peace and quiet with a relaxing soak in the bath, following an action-packed day of exploring the Cumbrian countryside; The ground floor bathroom also plays host to a handy shower resting over the tub, meaning guests can also delight in a brisk rinse to kick-start their day.

Wander across to the spacious double bedroom and admire the beautiful decor of the serene blue walls and the eye-catching feature fireplace, as you unpack your belongings into the charming chest of drawers making yourself feel right at home.

On the ground floor there is also a lovely twin bedroom with classic oak beds and views of the nearby mountains from the window.

Dust off your bikes and head out on a scenic cycle through the nearby Whinlatter Forest Park.

Embark on an outdoor adventure like no other, as you swing from treetops and hop on a Segway at the popular Go Ape adventure park.

Lose yourself in the history of the ancient Castlerigg Stone Circle, or take a tour of a working mine at Honister Slate Mine.

Climb Surprise View for incredible vistas or challenge yourself to a hike up the imposing Mount Skiddaw, the sixth highest mountain in England.
