“We have just returned from a lovely weekend at Low Brow Barn.”

The property is in a superb location with off street parking which is really important in this popular part of the lakes. The property is in a superb location with off street parking which is really important in this popular part of the lakes. Upon entering the property, we were worried as being located on a busy road, we thought the noise may be a problem. We couldn’t be more wrong - the sound proofing here is amazing as when the door closed, you couldn’t hear a thing. The living space/kitchen layout is really good, with ample space for the number of guests. I did think that the cleaning could have been a little better however, as there were dead insects on windowsillls, fingerprints on the tables, and some rubbish left from previous guests. The tap in sink in the en-suite bathroom was a little powerful and splashed the floor when I first used it. I wiped the floor with a tissue to dry it off, and the tissue was black, so the floor wasn’t really up to standard either. We only used cups and glasses during our stay but dish-washed them first. I can’t comment on the cooking facilities as we only used the kettle, but on the face of it, they looked ok. The tv remote was a little temperamental, so may need replacing, but we managed. Sleep wise - I prefer a hard mattress and this one wasn’t, but that’s really down to personal preference and I didn’t sleep too badly. Our only issue with the property is the showers/plumbing. The water wasn’t powerful in the en-suite bathroom, but the drainage still couldn’t cope and the main bathroom was worse. We had to place towels and bathmats carefully to avoid flooding the bathrooms every time we showered. We then had to have the washer on to wash and spin them which we don’t really want to have to do on holiday. All in all, it’s a great place and we may well visit again, if either something can be done about the drainage, or perhaps added to the bathroom to stop the water escaping.

Thank you for taking the time to provide constructive feedback, we are happy you have enjoyed your stay at Low Brow and take clients comments and concerns seriously. We have the same tv remote and yes it needs a little more pressure sometimes but it is fully working. We will be speaking to our cleaning team and solving the issues raised and get our plumber onto the drainage & pressures in the bathrooms. We do appreciate your feedback and hope to see you again in the future. Property Owner

About the location

AMBLESIDE

Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
