Primrose Cottage

We loved the location as being so close to town was really handy.

The views were beautiful. Beds super comfy and the kitchen well equipped. It was let down by how cold it is downstairs- there is only one radiator for the kitchen and dining room. Although there is a wood burner that’s not practical in the mornings. We also found the living space a bit small for 6 people. There aren’t 6 seats in the lounge. I think it would be fine in the summer but visiting in January was just too cold!

Primrose Cottage is a beautiful place to stay and the location is ideal being so close to the centre.

The views over town and across to Loughrigg are stunning. I went with a group of friends, followed by family and we all loved it. The beds were very extremely comfy and the cottage very well equipped. A hand held shower on the bath taps would be useful and my only very slight criticism would be that the kitchen and dining room were a bit cold, the one radiator didn’t really heat both areas very well. This certainly wouldn’t stop us choosing to stay at Primrose Cottage again though. Some feedback for Lakelovers rather than the cottage…. It was my first time booking through them and I was really impressed. The cottage was really clean and the Prosecco a lovely touch. I’d asked if it’d be possible for some spare linen as I had a change over of people staying and this was done no problem and at no charge. I left items behind in the house and the local office responded quickly with how they could get them back to me. I’ll definitely book through Lakelovers again.

This cottage is old fashioned and needs updating especially the bathroom and kitchen.

The kitchen is cold. It is a steep walk down and up the stairs into town. Whilst the cottage is clean and had all the facilities needed for being a home from home it lacks that cosy homely feeling. The garden isn’t much use, it’s on a slope, very steep and it’s totally open from the house so the dogs go visiting the other houses down the road! Maybe a gate between the houses would be beneficial

The house was beautiful, a real home from home.

All the facilities where spot on, views to die for. Would highly recommend this cottage to friends and we will hopefully be using it again. Thank you.

Primrose cottage has the best views in Ambleside, but that’s really the most positive thing I can say about it.

The cottage is very dated with painted over wallpaper and cheap furnishings. We stayed at the cottage during a very cold snowy week and although the bedrooms and bathrooms were cosy downstairs was cold with only 1 radiator and a dimplex electric fire. There is a wood burner but it had a notice on it saying the rope seal was broken so we decided not to use it. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We only had a party of 3 but any more and I think having one loo would have been a problem. Having said all this we did have a great week walking up on the fells in 3ft of snow was something we wouldn’t have imagined and Ambleside is a real pleasure as always.

The cottage is lovely there’s a steep climb up from the town but it’s a quick walk up.

The cottage had all the things needed to cook a meal. And the beds were very comfortable. The cottage soon got cold if the fire wasn’t lit. What was puzzling and disappointing was for a dog friendly cottage there was no hoover or sweeping brush to clean up. The carpet had other previous dogs hairs on it, these were a different colour to my dog. I took my own rubber hand brush for picking up any of my pets hair and ended up trying to brush the carpet with this, the previous dog hairs were ground into the carpet. A week is a long time to not clean up after your pet. I would have thought it would be in the owners best interests to have a brush and hoover for guests to use. Also when using the log fire bits of wood are left on the carpet but there is no way of removing the law. All thee is is a dust pan and brush. Some of the neighbours are not very pleasant and would glare when greeted. They have also gone insane with no parking signs and traffic cones all over the pavements forcing people to walk in the road. There was a lovely bottle of Prosecco waiting for us and a very handy fire starting kit, these were a nice touch. But please for the sake of your carpets instal a good quality hoover.

We arrived at the cottage at different times, so 2 arrived on the Friday, the other 2 arrived on the Monday afternoon, but was horrified to find clumps of dog hair all over the dining room carpet.

However, it's important to state here that we don't have a dog! The hair was so bad, we ended up having to hoover the whole house, as we couldn't be sure it wasn't all over the other carpets! Given that you charge us a compulsory cleaning fee at the end of our stay, we suggest that you check the cleaning is being done properly otherwise we are not sure you can apply a compulsory fee for cleaning.

The cottage was clean, today and situated perfectly for the town centre and for walks up the hills and around the lake Only thing to be aware of is the walk from the town centre to the cottage is very steep.

Primrose Cottage was perfect for our family of four.

Very comfortable beds, kitchen had everything we needed plus a dining table to eat and play board games. We found the garden a delight when we had good sunny days. One toilet was no bother at all and having the shower as a separate room very handy. Being able to park the car directly outside was a definite plus. I would mention the walk back up to the cottage is steep but mercifully short so overall we would definitely recommend the accommodation and we would definitely stay there again.

It’s elevated position provided lovely panoramic views. The walk into town down the steep path at first daunting at the end became part and parcel of our daily routine and fitness. Super walks direct from the doorstep, the car remained in its designated parking space for the duration of the holiday. Excellent bus and ferry services also used to explore further afield. Plenty of eateries for all tastes can be found in Ambleside as well as Force Restaurant a ten minute walk up the hill behind cottage for superb breakfast and wonderful views. Eating back at base no problem,Primrose Cottage kitchen is fully equipped to make family meals. The beds were so comfortable and afforded a good nights sleep after a days walking, mind you the end of walk beverage at The Golden Rule also helped. A really comfortable home from home and sat on the middle tier of the rear garden watching the sunset over Loughrigg Fell - priceless.

It was an ideal cottage for a family break.

Perfect location with a glorious view to begin each day, The Christmas decor was woeful and had to be enhanced before more of our company arrived.

Everything else was more than adequate but just on the edge of modern.cosmetically, I think you will only get away with such things as the painted wall paper throughout ,the complete lack of work done in the cellar (which we found an absolute god send and probably the game changer for a return. Used for All coats. Boots. Dogs towels and food and our fridge food overspill) The tired shower room carpet, the bathroom lino and garish bathroom tiles for another year or so before fickle holiday makers make more of a deal of this than is necessary .As constant travellers were not complaining at all infact im struggling to find any other negative issues. Lots of things didnt go un noticed like the fantastic sash windows , the drawers full of forgetable items and the cleanliness of the place. (Theres nothing worse than moving furniture to find last occupiers evidence (which we didnt)) i would make a bigger effort to place a warning about the very slippery back 3 steps to avoid un necessary come back. Our family dynamic meant that the one toilet wasnt an issue and seems difficult for you to address but would be a factor for some occupants. To reiterate id give you a 10/10 and highly recommend but be careful as other similar priced premises go that extra mile. Very understanding neighbours next door and across helped kick off a great stay and Having parked our car up for the whole duration of our stay ,walking up the steep path and steps where actually quite enjoyable.

Absolutely loved the cottage.

However one allocated parking space isnt good enough when it sleeps six. There was a very kind neighbour who allowed my daughter to use her parking area. The house itself is lovely- amazing view. Comfortable beds, and facilities great. Loved the central location. We have booked for next year.

This is a beautiful house ,nicely furnished, comfy beds and nice towels but I will be honest some of online photos are a little misleading - the dining room is actually dark and has little natural light and the garden is on a steep slope over three levels with a small path through the garden foliage with the seating area shown being near the top.

The freezer is down in the cellar and is a distance to get ice for your drinks if you up in the garden in summer. The garden was a mess with lots of mature weeds in the seating area and no evidence of being looked after. And made it hard to navigate the path up to the seats. It says there are two bathrooms but do note it also says the other is only a room with a shower so only one toilet. More could be done to improve how it feels to spend your holiday in the house : Six people but only four wine glasses No hook for a tea towel in kitchen- same for hand towel in bathroom No lamps downstairs -so evening lighting is limited Doesn’t detail the day bins are collected - just says collected every two weeks -so we missed putting our rubbish out ( wheelie bin was already totally full ) - we got in 15 mins early as was really hot and the doggy needed to be inside and there were several boxes and tubs full of beer and wine bottles left from previous occupants outside the back door - I had to phone Sykes to get it sorted - and they did but not a good start to the hols as they said it was because we got in 15 mins early! Lastly I would go as far to say this property is not suitable for most dog owners as the garden has limited space and neighbours are extremely unhappy and vocal if you use nearby rough grass areas to take them out for quick toilet outside of walks. The neighbours obviously don’t like the fact that this house and others on the street are holiday lets

So close to town and on the doorstep of many lovely walks so no need to use the car at all. All in all a very enjoyable stay and will definitely be back

Lovely cozy cottage and very comfortable.

Fully equipped kitchen. A short walk into Ambleside though the path is very steep. On the downside the bins were overflowing on arrival and we left before bin collection day so couldn’t put the bins out for emptying! Also the windows wouldn’t open for ventilation. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Holiday cottage was very good and comfortable - location and views were great being so close to town.

Lounge is cozy (very comfortable throws and electric fire) and we spent our evenings there - comfortable for 3-4 people at the max. Prosecco and coffee pods are a nice touch and really appreciated. Kitchen is well equipped. The property also had dog bowls which was great. The boiler malfunctioned during our stay but Lakelovers were able to sort it out in 1.5 days, though not ideal to not have hot water at the end of a long walk. The bin collection is messed up - I think bins haven't been put out for collection by previous many guests and garbage is piling up at the back of the property. Recycling was also full when we moved it and looks like the general recycling blue bag is missing and hence the council did not collect everything from the boxes. Garbage and recycling needs urgent attention with clear instructions for future guests. A couple of things we may have liked to know earlier (might be helpful for future guests): - we thought there were 2 bathrooms but it is essentially one shower, one bath tub with no showering facilities here, and one toilet. - Bring your own hand wash, toiletries, kitchen roll etc. Overall we enjoyed our stay in primrose cottage - we were only 2 adults and a dog.

Very difficult parking with grumpy neighbours, we understood the area for their private parking was not to be used, I had no option but to turn in that area, due to other parked cars jutting into the road, and trumpet lessons were not expected!

It was comfortable but to be honest it needs a second clockroom for larger parties, the garden was a bit disappointing but we were out most of the time, it is a lovely property and I do not want to put people off! Go and enjoy the view was amazing

Lovely cottage in a fantastic location.

Lovely furnishings and really nice touches such as coffee pods for the Nespresso, dog treats and a welcome bottle of prosecco. Surprised to not have any wardrobes but understand there was not a lot of room for them. However, the chest of drawers made up for that. A few hooks somewhere in the lounge or dining room would be really useful for coats. Also a bigger wheelie bin would be useful (if local council will accommodate) as the bin was already full when we arrived. We really appreciated the games cupboard on a rainy afternoon. Great outdoor space too. We enjoyed lunch in the garden and a cup of tea watching the sunset on the bench outside the front door. We had a great stay. Would definitely stay at Primrose Cottage again.

Great location and easy to visit nearby places, lovely comfortable cottage slept so well whilst we were here just wish we had longer!

It was the most perfect location. Stunning views over Ambleside and only a 5 minute walk to the centre of town. The cottage was very well equipped , spotlessly clean and tidy. It had everything we needed and more. The beds were really comfortable ,crisp sheets and luxurious bath towels. Prosecco on arrival ,coffee pods and logs for the fire were a lovely touch. We really loved the games cupboard too !! We enjoyed cooking great meals after being out all day and then relaxing by the fire . Would definitely recommend lunch at Dodds and the cinema followed by meal at Zeffirellis. Thanks for a very special stay. Would love to come back.

Primrose Cottage has been a fantastic place to stay, with a well-equipped kitchen and the perfect location within Ambleside. From here we are able to see many parts of The Lake District which was fantastic for our first time here. Parking was difficult at times but we managed - High Gale isn't exactly a wide street. However, it didn't stop us from having a fabulous time. The living room was very cosy too. Best wishes from Germany.
