Waterfalls

First 5 nights there was no operating shower.

I called/emailed the contact numbers numerous times, very poor communication. The repairman left a note saying it needed replacing, but didn't tell me when it would be done. Really disappointing. First 8 nights - impossible to sleep. Noise from upstairs unit AWFUL - continuous crashing and banging noise to the point of shaking the ceiling, only quiet from 12:30am-5am. I called and emailed, received no help, went upstairs to politely request if the occupants could keep the noise down. Angry man answered, intimidating. Crashing sounds immediately resumed and escalated. Impossible to sleep through, not sure how one family could make so much noise for so many hours without pause. Extremely frustrating. Biting bugs in bed - throughout the 2 weeks stay, I woke up with bug bites. Fleas? Bed bugs? Not sure but irritating and painful. So overall, a very expensive and disappointing stay.

Absolutely brillient accomodation, it is immaculate, they have everthing you need in the accomodation and a 10 min walk into ambleside, the best place weve stayed in ambleside without a dought.

Meets our needs perfectly. Clean and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. Lots of useful extras in the lounge cupboard ,eg jigsaws,pens and maps. We were pleased to have written the key code down before setting off as we knew the internet and phone signal to be poor in the area around the accommodation .This information might be useful to other guests .

Lovely property, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits was a lovely gesture. Thank you. The only slight gripe (which was out of your control completely) was other, “absent minded” guests allowing the main door and adjoining flat door to bang! Perhaps a door stop would be useful? Again, not an issue in any way with the owners or overall management of the property. We will most definitely be back.

There were no problems with the Waterfalls apartment.

However, when the apartment upstairs is occupied it is extremely noisy. Every movement can be clearly heard through the ceiling, which carried on until the early hours whilst we were there, so we wouldn't return for that reason. Although I do appreciate that this is out of your hands. The parking space is also quite tight.

Absolutely beautiful apartment, so clean and well maintained.

Directions to get there were super clear and easy to follow,we managed to get there no problems even in the dark and raining! The location is so stunning being right next to a waterfall and just close enough to town to be convenient but far enough away so very peaceful. On arrival we were greeted with a little welcome parcel with tea, coffee and biscuits and a mini cleaning supplies parcel. We had such a fantastic holiday and will 100% be back to stay at Waterfalls in the future. BRILLIANT :)

Wow, what can I say?

! This property was amazing, the owners have catered for everything. Fully equipped kitchen, board games, walking books, puzzles etc in the lounge. A Perfect bolthole for 2! I would love to visit in the winter as I guess it would be so cozy! My only slightly negative feedback was concerning the non slip bath mat in the bath, it's could do with a good scrub or replacing as it was left down and had gone black underneath. I gave it a quick scrub!

A very comfortable and spotlessly clean apartment which had everything we needed and more!

I can’t fault it at all. The welcome pack and milk was a lovely touch. We were so close to Ambleside and all that has to offer. Perfect, thank you.

This is my third stay at Waterfalls and I find it hard to think of anything I don't like.

Fantastic location, well-equipped, convenient parking for a medium-sized car and very comfortable. Perfect for one or two people.

Excellent apartment, ideal for 2 people.

Spotlessly clean, nicely decorated and well equipped, just a short walk from the centre of Ambleside. The only slight niggle was we could hear a child upstairs doing a lot of running about but once the window was opened this was replaced by the sound of the stream below. In summary, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Waterfalls and would definitely stay her again.

Impressed with kitchen apparatus and cleaning materials available, exceeded expectations.

Good selection of local guides. Really happy with whole experience and will book for next year. Only one thing could be improved, an earlier access time; we had 4pm check-in time. Would have been nice to have option for an earlier arrival time

The property catered for every need.

We could not fault the location, the apartment layout, and the cleanliness. Superb all round! To be a bit picky, which is probably out of the owners control. The soundproofing could be a lot better. It was very noticeable when people were staying in the apartment above. They were not particularly noisy, just walking around their apartment, sometimes until 2 in the morning, which prevented us having a good night's sleep. That said, the rest over rode this, so we would stay there again.

Great stay at Waterfalls, location is ideal, a short walk from town but very quiet.

The accommodation has everything that you could need, warm and clean, wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Perfect place to stay to experience the Lake District

Amazing location.

Lovely scenery and nice to hear the sound of the waterfall. Really central location to all the walks we wanted to do. Accommodation had everything you could need. We had the best time and we would 100% stay here again - highly recommend.

Good location in Ambleside.

Really nicely decorated and furnished cottage. Kitchen has everything you need. Walks from the cottage ae great. Red Screes etc., Wansdale Pike, and Loughrigg Fell are all good walks.

Amazing property, 100% worth the money.

I thoroughly miss the sound of the waterfall, we’ve had such a lovely week there. Cannot recommend this property off. It has absolutely everything that you need, we will definitely be back.

We had an amazing stay in Waterfalls and will definitely keep it in mind when we next visit the Lakes.

The place had everything we could ever need and more! The kitchen was perfectly stocked with great quality utensils and pots and pans and the whole flat was super comfortable. The only drawback we had was the noise from people staying above us on 3 or 4 of the days we were there. Other than that, perfect! Thank you very much.

We had a lovely week staying at Waterfalls.

The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed - we particularly appreciated that the kitchen was well equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment. The location near to Stock Ghyll Force is very peaceful, although its only a 5 min walk down into Ambleside. We would definitely recommend staying here!

Another excellent stay.

Fantastic location near to great walks and Ambleside centre. We hardly used the car this week. The property is warm and comfortable. Appreciate that the kitchen is very well stocked with a good range of dishes and nice crockery and glasses to make a special meal. The welcome packs are a nice touch.

We really enjoyed our stay at Waterfalls.

The location is ideal, close to the centre of Ambleside yet easy to set off from for a hike up into the hills. The appartment is very comfortable, thoughtfully kitted out with everything we could need.

Very nice location.

Far enough out of town to be quiet and near enough to be convenient. Aspect from all 4 windows was a pleasing view of trees and greenery, with one of them a lovely view of the river which looks like it’s coming out from under the flat. Noise from the river was a concern before we arrived but loved it once there. Did not disturb sleep, rather lulled you to it. Flat very clean and well maintained. Instructions to find it could be a little better considering those getting there have probably not been before. We overshot and first time and went through a very narrow opening to find there was a better one. Flat numbers on the facing tall wall would be useful. ( you’ll see what i mean) Not a big issue but, all the common stairwell lights are on a short cycle mechanical plunge timers, but the one in the dark lobby area to this flat kept going off too soon and with the backwards and forwards of luggage was a bit inconvenient while trying to navigate a plunge switch while loaded up with bags and trying to get the key in the slot. One the whole, very nice and would recommend.

This is true but misleading as it is far from a level walk to Rothay Park : "Nearby Rothay Park is also a lovely place for you to take a level walk by the river.

" I think the very steep walk to the town should be included in the description. The location was peaceful but the sound proofing is poor when people clump around upstairs. Not a major criticism, just an observation that the first floor flat has another one above it. Again, not mentioned. Everything else was as described so, with the above reservations, people can decide if this flat is for them.

Very nice property for couples, lovely peaceful location backing onto the Ghyll.

Well located close to the centre of Ambleside but it is a steep walk back.

A good spacious well decorated apartment for two people in a central position, well equipped with quality pots and kitchen gear and very comfortable.

If we come back to Ambleside we will certainly look to book Waterfalls.

The apartment has everything you need and is very clean and comfortable.

We would certainly return. The only comment we have is if you have a large car the getting to, and parking in, your allocated parking spot needs considerable care. Otherwise we were very pleased and had a lovely time.

We had an amazing stay at Waterfalls!

A great location in Ambleside, giving easy access to the rest of the lakes. Being able to open the window to hear the sound of the waterfall outside was magical. The view of the waterfall below equally so! Our stay was for a few nights, the place was clean, really well presented and comfortable - providing everything we hoped for! The only downside was the muffled noise from the flat above, who were heavy footed in the middle of the night and early morning! Not much to be done about that, we put on some Netflix in bed to mask it. We would highly recommend and would love to return in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our third stay at this lovely apartment.

Warm and comfortable with very well equipped kitchen. Appreciated the addition of the bench seat in the porch for putting boots on. Loved the herdy jigsaw ! Great access to lovely walks from the door and also into Ambleside and all that is to offer.

The property is ideal for couples.

Comfortable, well maintained and tastefully furnished. The owners have provided all the items you need to be self-sufficient. Would happily book this accommodation again in future.

Really loved my week in Waterfalls - from the quiet location, looking out over the waterfall below, to the cleanliness and the quality of the fittings right through to the comprehensive information folders provided by the owners, who have obviously also loved being there.

Fantastic instant hot water, close private parking, great Wi-fi connection and great soundproofing, as the waterfall really does rattle, and you may not want to hear it at night but I found it quite soothing to hear it through the open window - very sleep inducing. Short walk into town - (5 mins) steepish climb coming back up but lovely walk round the back of the cottages and church. The waterfall walk is a must - I shall really miss it and hope to be back. Thank you to the owners for making Waterfalls so nice.

Fantastic property, beautifully presented and convenient for access to the town

Location is fabulous although a bit steep after a day out walking, apartment spotless and owner had thought of everything from iron, hairdryer cleaning products etc nice little package with tea sugar coffee on arrival, only thing missing is some outside space and only one toilet roll for the week but we had a fabulous stay and I would definately recommend, would book again.

The property was ideal, had everything we needed and was very comfortable and of a high standard.

Child running about in the flat above was somewhat annoying but did not spoil our stay and would definitely consider staying again.

I know they are self catering but most cottages are that we’ve stayed in and it would have been nice to have coffee tea and sugar available.

Additionally 3/4 of a roll of toilet roll for the week was disappointing. The shower was temperamental and at the slightest touch was either freezing cold or scolding hot. We loved our stay. Those things aside… great area close to everything you need, amazing views and comfy bed.

Lovely apartment.

Super clean. Loved the decor and the pictures. Comfortable furniture especially the bed. Could possibly be worth mentioning that if you have a big car the parking space would be challenging. Luckily I have a very small car!!!

Stayed in properties all over the world and Waterfalls is up there with the best.

Quality and comfort were top notch and the thought that had gone into providing you a perfect stay was always evident. Nothing had been overlooked and we will definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending the property.

We have stayed before and appreciated the improvements eg new carpet The kitchen was extremely well equipped and the apartment lovely and warm.

Great selection of games etc We had a wonderful stay and will come again. We had a couple of problems with the TV but think it might have been the signal. We managed to resolve. The apartment above used their washer and dryer after 9pm on a few days . Maybe consider having a late evening restriction? The light in the hallway was on too short a timer which made it difficult to use the key into apartment ,especially when one of us was on our own . A small seat would be great in the hallway for putting boots on and off.

Everything was perfect.

The apartment was amazing. Everything was so clean and tidy. Can’t think of anything that would make it better.

Waterfalls is a lovely holiday flat in a beautiful location .

It was spotlessly clean for our stay and is beautifully decorated. It’s also very comfortable with a well equipped kitchen. There were two small negatives that may be useful for other guests to be aware of, 1. The allocated car parking space is very narrow. Our car is on the larger side (Ford Kuga) and once in the doors couldn’t be opened. 2. There’s no mobile phone reception in the flat. The internet connection was fine, but during the stay I couldn’t receive any calls or texts. Aside from those two points, we had a great stay and would highly recommend.

Comfortable, relaxing and location

The property was spacious and very well equipped with everything we needed for the week.

The only negative was the sound of the people above. The washing machine and tumble dryer was on well after 10pm and could easily be heard below. Also, all footsteps above could be heard especially above the bedroom.

Lovely , clean, comfortable apartment, with everything your need for your stay with perfect position by the river.

Only downside for those less mobile would be the walk up the hill but it's only a short gentle climb.

Lovely apartment in a good location (for us).

Only downside was information. We struggled to find the key safe. "By the meters" doesn't help unless you know where the meters are. "Under the arch" would have been more helpful. The Heart of the Lakes information folder in the property was empty except for the separators. This can't be because of COVID as the instructions folder was fully populated and there were lots of maps and guide books

Positives: location fantastic, view from living room window delightful, walk into town centre charming.

Apartment was clean & well presented. Denby tableware added sense of luxury. Furniture was comfortable & of high quality. Negatives: 45 mins delay in getting into apartment due to key in wrong place. Cleaner spoke to us on last day but I came away not sure if she understood that she had put the key in the wrong place by leaving it in our door which we couldn’t access due to the outside door being locked (not that I pushed the matter). The hall area was very cramped around the front door. This made getting ready to go out or getting coats off on return difficult and uncomfortable. There was no soundproofing between us & the people upstairs. They got up an hour ahead of us every day and it sounded like they were stepping on our heads it was so loud; impossible to sleep through. The advert suggested one or perhaps two flats above a house; in reality it was a block of multiple flats; we felt a bit mis-led by this.
