First impressions when you arrive are like’wow what a lovely place’. And it is. Ample parking. Location is good. You are within walking distance of the village and racecourse. (If you’re fit enough). And within driving distance of most of the tourist attractions. The public footpath around the back of the property is a bit precarious. As I said, the initial view of the property is good. It’s not until you look closely, you realise how dirty it is. It really does need a complete clean down. When you remove the cushions from the couch they are full of dog hair. There are crumbs and bits of food between the cushions of the other couch. The bedrooms are big and the on suites look quite new. The showers are good with plenty of hot water. The extractor fans in the bathroom are absolutely clogged with fluff. And they seem to stay on for an age after you’ve finished in the bathroom. When you leave, you are asked to strip the beds. I’ve never stayed in a property where I’ve been asked to do this! After you’ve stripped the beds, you realise how stained the pillows, mattress covers and mattresses are. Not nice! All in all a nice modern property, but could be better. If I owned this place and I was employing a cleaning company to look after it, I’d be doing spot checks and having a word with them.

We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the property itself, its location, the spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, and the plentiful hot water. However, we are absolutely appalled to read your comments regarding the standard of cleanliness during your stay. The issues you have described are completely unacceptable and fall well below the standard we expect our guests to receive. We employ a professional cleaning company to prepare and maintain the property between stays, and we are extremely disappointed that these matters were not identified and dealt with prior to your arrival. Your comments have been taken very seriously and have already prompted us to review our cleaning arrangements. We will also be introducing more regular spot checks of the property going forward. We understand that asking guests to strip the beds can cause frustration. While this has previously assisted with changeovers, we appreciate your feedback and will be reviewing whether this request remains appropriate. Regarding the access road, we fully appreciate your comments. We are aware that the final section needs attention, and arrangements are currently being made for this to be looked at shortly. It is particularly disappointing to us because, as owners, we want guests to experience the property in the condition we would expect ourselves. We genuinely appreciate you bringing these matters to our attention, and we are very sorry that the cleanliness during your stay detracted from what should have been a much more enjoyable experience.
