“A lovely cottage, well presented with very comfy beds.”

Some lovely walks across the low fells immediately out the backdoor, including a nice walk to nearby Shap Abbey (about a three mile round walk). A cracking fish and chip shop in village along with a nice dog friendly pub (aptly named The Greyhound as we have 3) serving good food, only 5 minutes walk away and a village coop meant easy to provision. There is also a dog friendly cafe with gift shop in village, which looked very nice (good reviews) but was unfortunately closed on the two days we ...

There is also a dog friendly cafe with gift shop in village, which looked very nice (good reviews) but was unfortunately closed on the two days we had free (Monday/Tuesday), alas maybe next time. Easy location to access Ullswater, Lowther Castle and Sizergh Castle (National Trust). Just a very minor point, the kitchen could perhaps do with a few more utensils i.e. garlic press, pasta bowls and the knives sharpened, however other than that a great cottage. We would recommend and definitely return in the future, thanks.
