Rebecca “Comfortable house with beautiful views.”
A great base for exploring the south lakes. We had fun walking and paddling boarding- Coniston was a particular hit! The hot tub was a wonderful treat after a day out- my teenagers loved it. Thank you for the generous welcome pack. (The house could do with a large wok/ large oven dishes for cooking for a hungry family! Cooking was the only challenge!)
- Rebecca, August 2024Lindsay “Was surprised no toiletries or spare toilet rolls left at property.”
Priority was beautifully maintained svx clean. Left an item at property and having difficulty getting it returned
- Lindsay, May 2024John “The stables is on a working sheep farm surrounded by beautiful countryside.”
It is maintained to a high standard and had everything needed for a great stay. N.b. A note for the owners only. We slept in the top bedroom and was kept awake for a few hours on 2 nights by scratching noises above us. The owner said it was probably squirrels. Maybe stop the access to the roof space .
- John, April 2024Sarah “We had an amazing time.”
It was booked as a surprise for my husbands (big) birthday where as a family we could be together and celebrate. The facilities were great and it was super clean but with a welcoming homely feel. I can honestly say we hope to return.
- Sarah, March 2024Hannah “Booked this house for my mum's 60th!”
It was amazing! We loved every minute. We'll deserved break and relax with family and friends. A couple of the group thought that the mattresses were a little uncomfortable (but everyone is different when it comes to mattresses so cannot rate them as bad) and it did take a couple of attempts to work out the oven, however we had a great stay and could not fault anything else. It was homely and relaxing, gorgeous views and would definately recommend. Mum loved her flowers on arrival it was a nice suprise from the hosts.
- Hannah, February 2024Alice “Absolutely stunning property.”
With beautiful views. Short drives to some great places. Lovely to come back and relax here. Was so cosy and warm. Would definitely stay again. Thanks for having us!
- Alice, November 2023Nickie “I couldn’t fault this cottage at all, it’s perfect, comfortable and there is everything you need there.”
We loved the welcome pack you provided, hot tub and log burner. If you’re lucky you might get to see Ernie the resident highland cow. I am definitely going to come back.
- Nickie, September 2023Brian “Thoroughly enjoyable stay at The Stables.”
Slight disappointment was that the Dining Table couldn’t seat 6. Our ‘party’ was 5 adults which meant that either 1 person had to sit to eat at the Breakfast Bar or we squashed up a little & brought a Patio chair in from outside! Other than this, a very well equipped & comfortable property
- Brian, August 2023Mike “We had a lovely break.”
The cottage was spotlessly clean and all needed amenities were available. The hot tub was the star of the show and worked flawlessly. Beds were comfortable. Would definitely return.
- Mike, August 2023Daniel “The property was exactly what you see.”
It is set in a beautiful part of the Lake District. You do need a car to get to places.Highly recommend a stay.
- Daniel, June 2023Jackie “The Stables is set in quiet countryside with beautiful views.”
I also rented Hannah`s Cottage as we were having a large family gathering; this combination worked very satisfactorily, both in terms of accommodation and indoor/outdoor socialising and games space. The Stables is presented very attractively throughout and has a well equipped kitchen; the bedrooms are comfortable with useful storage space. On a few occasions the water pressure in one shower, or the other, dropped to a trickle only, which I reported to the owners, who are easily available. We would happily return to The Stables.
- Jackie, May 2023Victoria “Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location, lovely welcome basket and relaxed weekend had.”
The hot tub was perfect and beds very comfy will definitely be back
- Victoria, April 2023Franky “Lovelly cottage which is finished to a very high standard.”
Everything was thought of by the hosts including an amazing welcome package which was a nice touch. The garden is great for the kids to play in and the views are lovelly. We recommend coming in via Kirby Lonsdale as the roads are just that bit easier to navigate (we drove a transporter van) Hosts friendly but not in your face etc and saying hello to Ernie the bull was our daughters daily highlight. Quick access to the lakes and lots of stuff nearby to do. Will visit again.
- Franky, April 2023Jayne “Over the moon with our 3 night stay at the Stables, clean comfortable and ...”
Over the moon with our 3 night stay at the Stables, clean comfortable and peaceful in a beautiful area the Hot tub was gorgeous, just what we needed to celebrate our friends birthday Thankyou
- Jayne, March 2023Katie “We had an absolutely fantastic stay.”
The property was pristine and very cosy for a weekend with the girls. A very well equipped kitchen with fantastic welcome goodies and helpful extras such as jars of sauces. The rooms were all very comfortable and the open plan living area was perfect for a sociable weekend. Loved having the hottub however the water level dropped considerably due to there being 6 of us using it (I think it is designed for 4 not six so it was a bit snug) and there was no tap or hose for us to easily access to top it back up so unfortunately we were not able to use it on our second night because the temperature had dropped so much due to the lack of water. A guest book to leave feedback would be great as we had lots of lovely comments about our stay but nowhere to share them. Thank you for a lovely stay, I’m sure we’ll be back.
- Katie, February 2023Carrie “Absolute hidden gem!”
We will definitely be back again! Extremely clean and very welcoming! Perfect for my 2 children! Also the hot tub was a added bonus! The owners couldn’t be more welcoming and really did the go the extra mile! They provide you with virtually everything you need and more! We will definitely be visiting again! Thankyou for a great stay!
- Carrie, November 2022James “The Stables is a beautiful cottage on a farm with the most spectacular views.”
The sunsets were a highlight along with the local walks enjoying the grazing sheep and cattle! The cottage is immaculate- a lovely barn restored to a high standard, nice furnishings and extremely clean. The owners are friendly and welcoming. My children loved visiting Ernie the Highland bull and playing on the turfed lawn. We would come again in a heartbeat!
- James, August 2022Alyce “This property is an absolute gem, it is so well kitted out, so comfortable and the owners were so welcoming, helpful and attentive.”
The location itself is breath taking, with the most beautiful views and walks. If we could rate more than 5 star we would, and we will most certainly be going back.
