“This was a great holiday cottage and spotlessly clean.”
It was much more spacious than we thought it would be. The kitchen was fab, with every you could need; even the knives were sharp, which is unusual in a holiday home! The master bedroom (with the super king) was a really big room and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom has been beautifully done and has a great shower. The stairs are a little steep, which could be tricky for anyone with mobility issues.
The house is on a main road, but the double glazing is effective. The road has very little traffic at night, so your sleep isn’t disturbed at all.
Milnthorpe doesn’t have many facilities but it does have a supermarket, a Spar, a few take aways and a couple of good pubs. The Wheatsheaf Inn at Beetham, a 25 minute walk down the road, is lovely for a meal/drink. Everywhere is dog friendly. It’s a very central location to explore the area, with easy access to lots of places.
The enclosed garden at the cottage was great for our wee dog as he was safe, however it’s very overgrown. My only criticism of our stay would be of the garden, as you don’t really have anywhere to sit out in the sun. If one side of the garden was lawn or paved, you could move seats to follow the sun. As it is, there’s one (very uncomfortable) metal beach in one small paved area. It was a pity, as we did have a couple of very sunny late afternoons, but had nowhere to sit and enjoy them.
We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely return.
