Nestled between the Lake District National Park and North Pennines is the fantastic, semi-detached Powleys Cottage, resting in Langwathby, Cumbria. In a charming location and with two bedrooms sleeping four guests, the cottage is perfect for two couples or a family with older children, with plenty of walking routes and historic towns within reach. Inside Powleys Cottage, you will find custom décor adding a rustic charm to the interior, as well as contemporary renovations for an easy self-catering holiday. Step into the kitchen/diner and stock up the cupboards with the essentials, where you'll also find excellent amenities for hosting a dinner around the beautiful, bespoke wooden table for four guests. The neighbouring sitting room offers a large Smart TV and a woodburning stove set in a fabulous feature fireplace; relax on the sofas, catch up with friends and plan the next day's adventures. Make yourself at home in the two spacious bedrooms on the first floor, with one super-king with a dressing area, plenty of storage space and a Juliet balcony overlooking the picturesque village, alongside a king-size which also features storage space and pretty views. With attractive tiling and colours, the bathroom is a lovely space to kick-start your day with a hot shower or unwind in the afternoon with a bubble bath. Dine alfresco or enjoy a glass of wine in the enclosed front garden, with a patio, shed for storage and outdoor seating, as well as a lawn area to enjoy the sunshine. Staying in Langwathby, you'll be in a great location to explore the Lake District and Cumbria. Powleys Cottage is just around the corner from a local shop and a traditional pub, so you can take a break from cooking and enjoy a local evening out. For a busier town with more amenities, head south east to Penrith; play a game of golf at Penrith Golf Club, explore the impressive Penrith Castle with grassy meadows for a picnic, or spot local wildlife whilst you wander through Thacka Beck Nature Reserve. Journey a little further to Pooley Bridge, resting on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater, for numerous scenic walks or for a peaceful cruise down the lake to other wonderful villages such as Howtown and Glenridding. In the northwest of the Lake District, you'll find Keswick, a charming market town surrounded by mountains, where you can access the breath-taking Catbells Lakeland Walk, stroll around Derwentwater and through ancient woodlands, or stay in the town for illusion exhibits at Puzzling Palace, alongside plenty of shops, cafés and fantastic museums. On the doorstep of picture-perfect towns, villages and landscapes, Powleys Cottage is a great base for a group holiday to discover the best of Cumbria and Northern England.

Resting next to the River Eden is the quaint village of Langwathby, Cumbria. With the Lake District National Park to the west and North Pennines to the east, Langwathby is an excellent base for a walking holiday. A large village green occupies the centre of the picturesque village, bordered by cottages, farmhouses and a traditional pub, the Shepherd's Inn. There is also a shop & Post Office, a village hall, and sitting next to the green is St Peter's church, built in 1718, with some parts of interior dating back to medieval times. Now home to the Brief Encounter Café, Langwathby Station offers great links to nearby towns and cities along the Carlisle to Settle Railway, with spectacular views of remote, scenic regions of England. Penrith is a busier town in Cumbria's Eden Valley and just a short journey away, with the large 14th century Penrith Castle set on a grassy meadow, Penrith Golf Club, a local history museum, as well as plenty of eateries and shops to enjoy. Sitting on the northerly edge of Lake Ullswater, Pooley Bridge is home to traditional inns and lovely tearooms, with access to numerous walks or take a tranquil cruise down the lake to the villages of Glenridding and Howtown. To the north of Langwathby lies Carlisle, a historic city with a beautiful cathedral, castle and the popular Tullie House Museum And Art Gallery.
