“I stayed at the Dairy Cottage for 5 nights.”
Seldom have I stayed somewhere and not desired to return to my own home, but I think this was the exception.
Dairy Cottage is on a farm, it is essentially betwixt the Lakes and the Dales, and this was a major factor in booking it, and neither places are too far away.
Following Google's directions will get you lost, so speak to David for the directions, instead!
Nonetheless, it's not too far from the local town and the co-op is about a 3-4 minute drive down the road, as well as there being a well love Pub right around the corner.
Upon arriving, I found the cottage to be exactly, and I mean that earnestly, exactly as described, inside and out. It was wonderfully clean and tastefully decorated to a high standard, much as you might expect at the more expensive hotels in the centre of a large city.
The difference was that it was very much a home, and I felt as such for the entirety of my stay.
Despite staying during Storm Arwen, the cottage is well insulated and the heaters were great, but the best parts of the night were putting on the stove, which works brilliantly.
There is everything in the kitchen you'd need for a meal proper and all of it works as intended.
The bedroom I mainly stayed in was the master, and the mattress was perfect for my back, comfortable and welcoming, and the pillows were very soft!
The bathrooms are small exercises in pulchritude and the showers are strong and warm quickly.
As you are on a farm, you should expect to hear the cows sing now and again, but it is not intrusive.
Lastly, David and Julie were the best of hosts. You made my stay one that was memorable and warm, and I'm thankful for how generous and kind you are.
I would, and indeed will recommend the Dairy to anyone and everyone seeking a cottage or place to stay. Of all the places I have visited, this was the best.
Thank you.
