    “A really nice cottage.”

Showers were excellent (although a bit more lighting in the wet room would be useful for those like me who like a shower before bed). The kitchen has everything you’ll need if cooking for yourself. We only used the downstairs bedroom but the bed was seriously comfortable. The garden is huge but not enclosed so we made sure we always went out with the dogs. Windermere village and associated pubs/takeaways/restaurants is a 10-15 minute walk away. The garden is huge but not enclosed so we made sure we always went out with the dogs. Windermere village and associated pubs/takeaways/restaurants is a 10-15 minute walk away. Bowness is about a 30 minute walk via the path at the bottom of the garden. I drive an iPace and would not recommend trying to park with anything bigger as the approach road and turning area in front of the cottage are a bit tight. Only issue for me is there could be a blind on the side window as a path runs a few feet from it and people do like looking in! One guy actually waved at my wife as she was sitting down

The first super king-size bedroom is on this level, with underfloor heated Lakeland slate bathroom.

Upstairs to the second lounge with TV and games section, panoramic box bay window and sleek white leather sofas.

Kingsize bedroom with oak four-poster and en-suite bathroom.

Twin bedroom and wet room. Location Windermere is a small but very well-served Lakeland village, in a great location with excellent links for exploring the entire Lake District.

Only 20 minutes from the M6 and with a train station in the village centre, Windermere is very easy to reach and provides a convenient base even for those who'd prefer not to bring a car.

The high street has a number of interesting local shops, plenty of lazy cafes and a selection of restaurants and traditional pubs.

The renowned Booths supermarket provides all your everyday essentials, along with the finest local produce to enjoy during your stay.

Windermere village is, of course, within very easy reach of the shores of Lake Windermere.

Stroll down to Miller Ground or wander just a couple of miles down the road to Bowness village - where boating activities are the highlight of Bowness Bay.

Hire a row boat, or take a Lake Windermere steamer cruise to explore Ambleside or Lakeside - a wonderful way to explore car-free! The A591 provides easy access by car or bus to some of the Lake District's most fabulous walking routes, but there are also a few lovely strolls to enjoy around Windermere.

A short walk up Orrest Head affords glorious views to the lake.

Well worth exploring, the nearby village of Staveley is the starting point for stunning walking and mountain biking in the Kentmere Valley.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £200.
