“Sunny Hill is a gem of a property.”

It is truly a home from home cottage. It has everything you need and more for a visit to the Lake District. It is in a very quiet location and closest town is Penrith so it’s on the eastern side of the lakes. Good main roads are easily accessible to the main towns such as Keswick, Kendal and all the other beautiful places in between. We highly recommend this property as the owners have thought of everything.

The property

A fabulous single-storey detached cottage in the attractive grounds of the owner's home, on the edge of the pretty village of Great Strickland, seven miles from Penrith.

Built to a high standard, Sunny Hill provides first-class accommodation in a quiet, peaceful location, ideal for a get-away-from-it-all romantic break in the country.

The open-plan living area is spacious, light and airy, with French doors leading to a private, south-facing patio area, while exposed beams, Velux windows, a cosy woodburner and great views ensure that Sunny Hill will be a holiday home to remember.

A wonderful base for enjoying the inspirational Lake District, the Eden Valley Circular Cycle Route passes the cottage, while just a short drive away are Appleby, delightful Pooley Bridge and the magnificent lakes at Ullswater and Haweswater.

About the location

GREAT STRICKLAND

Penrith 7 miles; Appleby 10 miles; Kendal 22 miles.

The attractive, unspoilt rural village of Great Strickland is ideally placed for exploring the Lake District and Eden Valley. The village offers a pub, which serves good food and the nearby market town of Penrith has a good selection of shops and restaurants, a cinema and swimming baths. The Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre is only 2 miles away and well worth a visit, or why not cruise on one of Ullswater's motor yachts, which leave hourly from Pooley Bridge, only 5 miles away? The Rheged Discovery Centre in Penrith is the “largest grass covered building in the country” or you might like to visit Dalemain Historic House featured in a television production of Jane Eyre. For those who love the outdoors, the well known "Coast to Coast" walk runs close to Great Strickland and walks abound in the nearby National Park.
