Well stocked . It is very remote and roads were very flooded . This could have been a big problem but we managed but had to drive through many flooded roads . You need a good car or 4 wheeled drive in the winter or you could ruin your car and be stranded . Really enjoyed our stay at the Shippen, it was a total rest away from everything.
Rusland is a quiet, precious location. Many of the visitors to the Shippen return because of the beauty of the valley.
However, the implications of staying in a rural area have always to be borne in mind. The weather in December was unusually severe in the South Lakes, as it is sometimes in many other parts of the country.
Many long term, local residents do not find it necessary to own four wheel drive or other specialist vehicles.
