“The Shippen is an beautiful old cottage, but everything inside is in perfect order: modern kitchen appliances, well furnished, atmospheric lighting, a good bed and a nice bathroom.”

Because the sitting room is on the first floor, you have a beautiful view over the fields and hills. The landlords are the neighbors and nice people who can proudly talk about their house, their garden and the region.

Crosslands is a small hamlet in the Rusland Valley, just a couple of miles from the Grizedale Visitor Centre and six miles from the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District National Park. The pretty Lakeland village of Hawkshead is six miles away, famous for its cobbled yards, white-washed cottages and as being the home of the Beatrix Potter Gallery. There is superb walking, cycling and mountain biking available in the area, and most trails will lead to the beautiful Grizedale Forest. Heading towards Lake Windermere, to Finsthwaite, is the Stott Park Bobbin Mill, a restored working mill run by English Heritage. East is the quiet and idyllic Coniston Water, where Gondola, a steam yacht, gently cruises up and down the lake.
