“As would be expected from a newly refurbished property the decor was fine and everything was working properly.”
Accommodation was comfy and the garden backing onto the river was very much a plus. Excellent location for exploring the southern end of the lakes.
Three slight negatives:-
1) Strong smell of dog in the hallway when we arrived which didn't disappear during our stay (hence the mark down for cleanliness).
2) We could have done with a welcome pack e.g. leaflets/brochures for the attractions in the area and local knowledge/recommendations about what to visit.
3) If the nearby pub (Royal Oak) hadn't been closed for refurbishment, which meant we could use their car park overnight, it would have been very difficult to park near the cottage without causing blockages on the road and/or pavement which would upset the locals.
Thank you for your feedback David. It is most useful, especially as we have only been running for a few weeks. So all feedback is welcome. 1) with regards to the hallway, some of this maybe due to new flooring. However, we have had all the carpets cleaned to make absolutely sure. 2) we now have a leather bound folder to keep all this information in. This will hopefully stop the leaflets being left in different drawers and all the information is now together. 3) You are right, parking outside the front of cottage is only really suitable for 1 car, additional parking is at the end of row of cottages or further down in the village. The small village of Spark Bridge is a couple of miles away from the village of Greenodd, which has a selection of shops next to th River Crake, whilst just five miles away is the ancient market town of Ulverston.
