    “We booked the Hideaway as a last minute getaway with our two grandchildren and two dogs.”

    I have to say that this property is probably one of the best that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in a few in my time. We know the area fairly well so there are lots of places to go and things to see. The coast is less that 20 minutes away and the Lake District National Park it’s about 30 minutes in to Keswick.     I have to say that this property is probably one of the best that I have stayed in, and I have stayed in a few in my time. We know the area fairly well so there are lots of places to go and things to see. The coast is less that 20 minutes away and the Lake District National Park it’s about 30 minutes in to Keswick. The property itself was immaculate with everything you could need or want for your holiday. The property is secure and has a large garden for your dogs to run around in, the grandkids loved it and it’s great for sitting out and chilling after you have been out all day. We loved the games room upstairs and the grandkids really enjoyed watching a film on the huge TV! The beds were really comfortable, and we all had great nights undisturbed sleep. The owners have provided everything for your dogs including beds, blankets even food and treats! even though we brought our own. Looking at the availability, it is a popular place and we would definitely book again. Thanks to the owners for providing a beautiful place to stay.

About the location

WIGTON

Carlisle 12 miles; Keswick 20 miles.

A traditional Cumbrian market town with a charter granted in 1262, which still holds a market each Friday in the covered market hall, along with an open air car boot sale which is held at Silloth. Wigton is a popular centre for shopping, pubs and restaurants, and also boasts a theatre, bowls, swimming, tennis and other sports. Lord Melvyn Bragg was a native of Wigton, and used the town (called Thurston in some of his writings) and the surrounding area as the setting for his novels including ‘A Time to Dance’. Located 18 miles from Penrith it is a good base for the attractions of the North Lakes, the cathedral city of Carlisle, 12 miles away, Keswick, just north of Derwentwater and close to Lake Bassenthwaite, and the natural beauty of the West Cumbrian Coast. Hadrian’s Wall is within 25 miles, while the Scottish Borders, and Gretna Green, are within easy reach.
