The Drunken Duck

One of the Lake District’s most acclaimed inns, ‘The Duck’ as it is known locally gets its name from boozy birds stumbling across the narrow country lane, 3-miles from Ambleside. It offers a delightfully warm welcome, with roaring fires in the stylish contemporary-country style bar over the colder months, and then in the summer months, the beer garden is a coveted spot thanks to the enviable views. The bar serves a hearty gastro menu, but the easy-going atmosphere means that you can just as easily share a glass of elderflower Champagne as you can a one of their on-site micro-brewery ales, like Tag Lag. A more formal dinner is served in the adjoining restaurant and you can order from the likes of seabass with mussels and Teriyaki Ox Cheek.
