The Wild Boar Restaurant Windermere - Lakelovers Recommendations

The Wild Boar, Windermere

Grill & Smokehouse

The Wild Boar

The Wild Boar in Windemere, has its own onsite Smokehouse and possesses character in abundance. Oak beamed and cosy by candlelight, it delivers a delectable hearty and modern British menu, championing a whole host of local produce and seasonal ingredients from some of the best producers in the region. The Wild Boar itself is historically famous for being the site where Sir Richard de Gilpin is said to have slain the last wild boar! Its reputation in the present day however is more to do with its warm welcome and classic British hearty menu, with a strong emphasis on the very best seasonal local ingredients. The culmination of traditional décor and time-honoured ‘coaching inn’ ambiance, warm welcome and friendly service, assures a home-from-home delight and a desire to linger! Our head chef, Marc Sanders, proudly continues his commitment to the best locally produced seasonal ingredients, delivering a classic British hearty menu sprinkled with imaginative flair, and an excellent ambiance that is famously The Wild Boar.
